With TWRP, on almost every operation I get
> Failed to mount '/preload' (Invalid argument)
My device currently can not boot, and this may have something to do with it,
/preload
is currently in /etc/fstab
, I can see the entry here with
/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 /preload ext4 rw 0 0
When I try to mount it, I get
mount preload/
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p16 on /preload failed: Invalid argument
Is there anyway to fix this problem?
From my recovery.log
, I have

Flags: Can_Be_Mounted Can_Be_Wiped IsPresent

Backup_Path: /preload

I'm trying to flash LineageOS, but I'm really just curious about resolving this error message.

I work in a facility where my boss asked me to see if I can locate a specific number in 2 identical locked Motorola phones because they are now deceased and there was a computer left behind. We know with almost 99% certainty that it is who they say they are but we would like to cororbererate the number of the individual in question with the # in his or her phone.
And as I said before both phone owners are now deceased and there is a pin lock on each phone. Is there any suggested free forensic software available out there or another way possibly to extract the data without loss? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am aware that Google will sync bookmarks between Chrome on a desktop and Chrome on Android via my Google account. I do **not** want to do that, because I want to avoid leaving that digital trail.
I see a number of apps on the Google Play app store, but none seems to be doing just import and nothing else.

I went to the Play store to search for a text to speech app. To my surprise, it said I already had one: Google Text To Speech, and that it was probably already on. Sure enough, in settings, there it was. But not a word - zero - about how to use it, or point it to any arbitrary text, and have it start reading.
I found this [post](https://www.google.com/amp/s/drfone.wondershare.com/amp-arc/android/text-to-speech.html) which lauded what this app can do - but using it, controlling it? No joy. Then I read in this article about Read Aloud, a Chrome extension. Apparently, Google TTS, despite the name, is NOT used to read text?! I guess it doesn't matter if there is no way to control it. So I got Read Aloud, after checking that it works on mobile and not just desktop.
Supposedly, you can control it from an icon. But after clicking the button, did I see an icon? No, of course not. People, what am I missing here? I just want to use my phone to read arbitrary text. How do I make that happen? Thank.

Chrome is designed to send full browser history to Google, for ad-tracking purposes. What's the full list of things to make sure are turned off, after signing in to Chrome with my Google Account?
---
I'm setting up a new device (Pixel 9 with Android 16). It comes with Google Password Manager.
Sadly, Chrome uses its own autofill code. When Chrome offers to save something in Google Password Manager, it does _not_ look the same as in any other app.
=> If I _don't_ sign in to Chrome, I will have two separate password managers:
1. System-level autofill with Google Password Manager - which can only save passwords in your Google Account.
2. If you don't sign in to Chrome using your Google account, then Chrome can only save passwords "on this device".
I use Firefox as my web browser. But I'm used to keeping the original browser as a backup (or keeping Chrome on Linux). I need to be able to check whether a website has decided to hate Firefox, or whether it's broken for everyone.
It might sound picky, but I don't want my backup browser to use a separate "on my device" section in Google Password Manager. It's too much confusion. I want to have a good setup, that I can recommend to other people.

I recently decided to enhance my online security by changing all my passwords and activating Two-Factor authentication for most of the services I use. I updated my passwords in Google Password Manager and enabled on-device encryption.
After updating my Google Account password, I was automatically logged out of all my devices. However, when I tried to access my passwords in Google Password Manager, I received a message saying that I couldn't access my encrypted data on the device I was using. The message suggested that I should try using a device that I recently used to sign in to my Google account:
> for security, you can no longer access your encrypted data on this device. try again using a device that you’ve recently used to sign in to your google account.
What I have tried:
1. Checked the Web & App Activities settings on your Google Account and turned it Off and then On again.
2. Checked the cookies settings on your browser.
3. Confirmed that Sync is not paused in Google Chrome.
4. Cleared data in Google Chrome and turned Sync off, signed back in, and turned Sync on again.
5. Checked the Device Activity page on your Google Account and confirmed that Sync is On and not paused on the devices you recently signed out of.
6. Restarted my device and waited for bookmarks and passwords to load.
Despite trying these steps,I still cannot access my encrypted data on the device I am using, and I am looking for further help.

The odd thing is that the call volume is perfectly adequate over speaker or without a headset, but plug in a BT headset - ANY BT headset - and the problem resurfaces. I have a Google Pixel 6a (bluejay) phone.
On this phone camera makes shutter sound when I take a photo.
I have looked up the phone by IMEI by going to
https://store.google.com/us/device-authenticity?id=[IMEI]
URL and it shows "Intended region: IN,JP".
I have previously installed LineageOS and rooted it to remove the files /product/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
/product/media/audio/ui/camera_focus.ogg
,
/product/media/audio/ui/VideoStop.ogg
and
/product/media/audio/ui/VideoRecord.ogg
.
This removed the sound,
but because of the root banking applications complained,
so I reinstalled the system to CalyxOS without wiping.
Now I want to remove the same .ogg files without rooting the phone.
I have downloaded https://release.calyxinstitute.org/bluejay-factory-25608200.zip file
linked from the page https://calyxos.org/install/devices/bluejay/linux/ .
It is an archive with all partition images.
Inside an archive there is another archive bluejay-bp1a.250505.005/image-bluejay-bp1a.250505.005.zip
which I unpacked.
This archive in turn contains product.img
file.
I unpacked product.img
by running unzip image-bluejay-bp1a.250505.005.zip product.img
.
I confirmed that product.img
contains the files media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
and similar.
I tried to mount the image and got this error:
# mount -o loop product.img /mnt/
mount: /mnt: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.
# dmesg | tail -1
[360861.911279] EXT4-fs (loop0): couldn't mount RDWR because of unsupported optional features (4000)
I ran e2fsck -E unshare_blocks product.img
and then tried to mount again:
Then the image mounted successfully with mount -o loop product.img /mnt/
.
I then modified the image:
cd /mnt/media/audio/ui
mv camera_click.ogg camera_click.bak.ogg
mv camera_focus.ogg camera_focus.bak.ogg
mv VideoStop.ogg VideoStop.bak.ogg
mv VideoRecord.ogg VideoRecord.bak.ogg
cd /
umount /mnt
Then I rebooted the phone to fastboot with adb reboot fastboot
and flashed the modified product.img
to both slots:
# fastboot flash --slot=all product product.img
