**TL;DR:** With two Android phones, how do I get arrival & departure location sharing notifications on my backup device, instead of the primary device? ---------- I have a primary and a backup Android phone. Recently, the primary one developed an issue with the display, rendering it mostly unusable, except with screen projection utilities (e.g. AirDroid and scrcpy). As a result, I switched to using the backup phone. Over the last couple of days, I noticed that Google Maps was still sending notifications of arrival & departure (notification channel: *Google location sharing (friends)*) to my now unusable primary device. After searching the internet, I found [this answer](https://support.google.com/maps/thread/286527280?hl=en&msgid=286627449) , which essentially requires me to sign out of my Google account on the primary phone. This solution is untenable for me, as I intend to repair and return to using the primary device in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, however, I still want to receive notifications on the backup device. How do I achieve this? Here are the things I've tried which didn't yield the expected result: * Fully disabled location sharing on the primary phone * Disabled all Google Maps notifications on the primary phone * Cleared data and disabled Google maps on the primary phone * Disabled & re-enabled location sharing on the backup phone

Reading incoming SMS from a computer through an API over WiFi or internet
I want to read incoming SMS's from my computer, through an API. Preferably in Python but I can write the Python code myself if the API is plain HTTP or JSON. The phone uses the same WiFi as the computer, but the phone is not rooted and is not cable-connected to the computer. Is there a way to do so?

I am trying to unlock the bootloader of a motorola moto e7 phone. Note, this is second time of this problem. I have tried by both the very first version of the stock firmware, and also by one with all the updates. The result was always the same: adb reboot bootloader works, device is visible in fastboot. But no usual fastboot command work, particularly not the unlock-related ones. Sources on the internet say the most wide spectrum of possible bullshits, including driver replacement or various devmode setting changes. What to do?

I am using a brand new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. When Facebook Messenger is installed, it works fine. But if I need to reboot aka turn off the phone, and turn it back on, it seems 2 main problems come along. In the screenshot where it now says chat bubbles and there is a switch to the right. After a reboot, this changes into just bubbles, and the switch is no longer there. **First problem**. When this happens, it seems like messages from some people just don't come in. No notification, and even if I open the conversation manually, there is nothing new. For some people, I get a message saying something like "A message had been sent. It may take some time for it to arrive." Or "a picture has been sent to you." And for some people, it works fine. **Second problem**. On the chat bubble (the conversation), I need to see a number, showing how many new messages in this chat. After reboot, it just shows a small dot indicating 1 or more new messages. I need to see the number for my group chats. To revert it back to the way it works and I like it, I have 2 options. - Uninstall and reinstall Messenger. - Or open Settings and empty cache. This is a bit easier. But I still have to log back into the app and reset most of the settings. After this is done, it seems the lost messages that did not come in before, now is here. This happens every time I reboot, but I think it happens sometimes while the phone is on. I can not say for certain, but it is a problem. enter image description here

This is not duplicate of other questions. I've been struggling with this issue for last 3 weeks and have contacted Google over chat, forums and other avenues too without any luck. I moved from USA to India and now some of the apps can't be downloaded due to payments profile being in USA with an active Google Domains subscription. So far I've tried following steps - - Went to payments.google.com and created another profile with India as country. Now I can see two payment profiles as USA and India. - Added credit cards etc so that it's a valid one - Went to Apps > Play Store and cleared cache and data. Removed my google account and restarted my phone to add Google account again. - Can't delete my cc info from USA payments profile due to active Google Domains subscription. Tried cancelling it, but it takes me to Domains billing page which again asks me to go back to payments page to cancel. So kind of catch 22 situation here. - Unless I cancel Google Domains subscription, can't close my USA payments profile. - Went to Google play to purchase something and it doesn't allow me to buy anything with India card, so other solution to at least reach 'Accept & Buy' stage can't be done. I'm stuck with USA google play store now and would appreciate any help to change country so as to get to useful apps.

I'm thinking of buying an ARM laptop as a second laptop for programming and hacking experiments. Ideally I would set it up to multiboot Windows, Linux, and Android. I've seen several articles and videos on the internet for setting up x86 Android on an x86 laptop, but can't find anything on ARM laptops. I'm guessing it would come down to things like device drivers and maybe UEFI? Is it possible for a normal person to install Android natively on an ARM laptop intended for Windows/Linux? (And preferably dualboot/multiboot?) (I'm aware some highly skilled hacker types can probably do it using AOSP. I'm also aware I could just use a VM or emulator. For this question I'm only exploring the options of installing natively on the hardware.)

Two rows of keys have stopped working: 4RFV and 5TGB. Apparently, this is not fixable and I have to buy a new keyboard. But that's not in the budget currently. I'm looking into something called keyboard mapping as a temporary solution,at least I think it's called key mapping. I want to be able to press something like "Alt P", to type "R". I found the External Keyboard Helper app. But I think it's for Bluetooth connections. The Book Cover keyboard is connected by the 3 metal dots at the bottom. Does anyone know of any workaround to get the keys to work through some other keys? There are other options I will look into as a last resort (buying a new keyboard). Im trying to keep this keyboard because it's not really feasible to take notes on a touchscreen. And the great thing about the tablet and the keyboard it came with was that I could take it to classes and meeting. The tablet model name is SM-T736B. The keyboard is EF-DT730. Any help is appreciated!

I've recently moved to the Geneva area on the border between France and Switzerland. I live in France where I have a French mobile (and home) phone contract, but work just over the border (within a mile of it!) in Switzerland. The Swiss networks are stronger near my work than French ones, but I can usually get a French signal. I can use several French networks without incurring roaming charges for phone/SMS/internet use, but any of the Swiss ones will cost me a small fortune. In Android (actually Cyanogenmod versions based on Gingerbread and ICS is what I've tried so far so far) I seem to have two options: **a)** *Only* allow to join my home network and ignore all others, both French and Swiss. In this case I often have no connection at all. **b)** Connect to *any* network, in which case the phone will often choose to connect to a Swiss network and hence incur costs. (And in practice will render me unable to use the mobile data connection since I've disabled data roaming). Is there a way that I can rank networks in order of preference so that French networks (if joinable) will be preferred to Swiss ones, even if there are Swiss networks with a stronger signal? I've looked for settings and apps to do this, but without success... other than some rather dangerous looking stuff with the Preferred Roaming List (PRL), which doesn't seem to be exposed to the normal UI. I guess most people don't live/work on borders so this feature hasn't been that much in demand -- but the network operators unfortunately don't have any cross-country deals to help frontier-dwellers either, so a technological solution is probably needed!

This question is for a **hardware** keyboard connected via an USB C to C cable. On the OSK I was already good, using "Unexpected Keyboard" which I love. Plugging in the hardware keyboard, I don't know how to type the letter å. I realized that if I go into the settings and disable Unexpected Keyboard and instead use Gboard or AnySoftKeyboard (Hacker's Keyboard didn't work and I couldn't find OpenBoard in F-Droid), I can type dead diaeresis, dead acute, dead grave, dead tilde, and dead circumflex with various keyboard combos enabling me to type words like ëñôéàßç and that's great. That brings me part of the way there. (I live in Stockholm where é, à, ö, ä, å are common (and ü is used in only one word, a common type of breakfast cereal that I refer to often). The one common letter I can't type is å. (I have a few friends with other weird characters in their names but I can just paste those, while å I need to type all the time.)) I've heard people say å is altgr+w but that does nothing. On iPad it's altgr+a but that does nothing here either. On Windows it's alt+0229 and on Unix a couple of different compose sequences could do it. Even with Unexpected Keyboard as my only enabled keyboard and set to control the hardware keyboard, I can type ä and ö (as altgr+u a and altgr+u o respectively), I didn't realize at first because doesn't "show" the dead umlaut the way Gboard does. What a strange and under-documented world this is. Still no å. On Android it's possible to select a Swedish layout entirely but the problem with that is that ^ and ~ and a few other important keys become "dead" keys. It's more important for me to be able to type a normal living ~ or ^ than to type å. In Termux and in Emacs I'm already set, so for medium or long texts I just type there and paste from there. (So no need to post solutions specific to those two apps, I've already got them.) But for chat apps specifically, that is a no go. It's gotten to the point that I type the rest of the message and then unplug just to pop up the OSK to type the diacritics letters. I do have a programmable keyboard (it's an Atreus) but keyboards can ultimately only send keycodes, it can't send any Unicode codepoint. So if typing å means sending Alt+0229 or alt cokebottle horseshoe W, that's fine because I can just set up a macro to do that, but if there's no way to send a living ~ or ^ I'm in trouble. A macro like "tilde + tilde" or "tilde + space" is no good; it works for typing but it'll still break keyboard shortcuts that depend on tilde. But I have no keyboard shortcuts depending on å so a "for typing only"-solution is more appropriate for it. It seems that in the Play Store there's a proprietary app called External Keyboard Helper that'll solve it but that would mean installing a proprietary app that could key log everything I do!😰

Previously I had a Nokia 7.1 (Android 9) when I started to notice this issue. Every few time, the older images I had on my Download folder disappeared without I doing nothing. From time to time it happened again. I let this pass. Every time that ocurred, I manually download the images again, because I needed to have those images there. Today, I have another smartphone (Multilaser MS50X, a brazilian cellphone with Android 8.1) and exactly after a month of started using it, the older images of my Download folder disappeared again!!! I've checked some apps that I think it could be doing something like that: * Google Chrome (downloads data to this folder) * Google Photos (sync and backup images) * File Manager + (access to data and folders) * Quickpic (gallery app) But no one have an option to "automatically delete Download folders content after a while". I don't have any Clean App, neither use the function "Free up space" of Android. Also none of those cellphones had an option like "storage booster" or "smart storage" like state on this thread: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/165200/android-phone-automatically-deletes-photos Any clue where can I look? It's annoying Regards Update: When I open Google Photos, go to 'Photos on device', and select 'Download', I can see all the deleted images (the images that should be on that folder and it doesn't)

In the last 2 months, my wife's data usage has ballooned for no clear reason, since her mobile habits and phone have not changed. In this billing cycle with a few days to go, the phone's mobile data usage utility shows what it states is "Google" used 3.12 gb out of a total of 4.06 gb. Everything else--Maps, Facebook, Spotify et al are distantly behind (nothing more than 0.24 gb). Background data usage is on and she will turn it off, following advice in other posts. 1. Is there any way of finding out what in Google is using all this mobile data? 2. Any recommendations on apps that can get more specific about what is using the data? Thanks for any help. David
