I was stuck in a boot loop after flashing AOSP ROM. So I decided to power off and use SPFlashTool to flash the stock ROM. But both SP and Tecno flash tools give the following error:
> ERROR : STATUS_BROM_CMD_STARTCMD_FAIL (-1073348607) , MSP ERROR CODE : 0x00.
The phone doesn't respond to any button presses. However, whenever I connected it to my PC, the charging indicator glows and even Windows can detect it, and the device is listed in ports.
Can anyone please help?

In the last 2 months, my wife's data usage has ballooned for no clear reason, since her mobile habits and phone have not changed. In this billing cycle with a few days to go, the phone's mobile data usage utility shows what it states is "Google" used 3.12 gb out of a total of 4.06 gb. Everything else--Maps, Facebook, Spotify et al are distantly behind (nothing more than 0.24 gb). Background data usage is on and she will turn it off, following advice in other posts.
1. Is there any way of finding out what in Google is using all this mobile data?
2. Any recommendations on apps that can get more specific about what is using the data?
Thanks for any help.

My accounts are aliases (as is my account here, CJ Dennis is not my real name!) since I don't want to dox myself. The last thing I want is people being able to scrape my personal information from a Google API.
How can I access my messages with Google Messages but without selecting an account?

Within location services on Android 13 devices, there are several services such as Google Location Accuracy.
[](https://i.sstatic.net/mURlQ.png)
I have taken a snapshot of secure, global and system settings before and after enabling this setting, but there is no change, which leads me to believe that we can't change it via settings.
I have tried the solutions mentioned here
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/40147/enable-location-services-via-adb-or-shell
But these just seem to affect the location setting and not Google Location Accuracy.
Is there a way from ADB to enable/disable this?

When iOS support ends for my iPhone, I would like to replace it with a Pixel phone and go with GrapheneOS.
But I am wondering: (How) can I transfer my contacts, photos etc.? (without proprietary cloud solutions)
It looks like there's the possibility to [transfer those data by Lightning2USB-C cable](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7129740?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccopy-data-from-your-old-phone-with-a-cable-recommended) . But this only works on StockROM and LineageOS, right? Not on GrapheneOS!?
My idea was to buy the phone, flash Lineage (with GApps) on it, transfer the data from my iPhone, perform a SeedVault backup on an external drive, flash GrapheneOS and restore that backup on the device.
Would this work? Has anyone tried?
My two main uncertainties:
1. Does the cable transfer from iOS work with LineageOS?
1. Does restoring SeedVault backup between ROMs (Lineage, Calyx, Graphene etc.) work?

I am unable to play YouTube videos from the links I get on my Facebook Messenger app.
Here's what happens:
1. A friend of mine posts a video link to me (YouTube link) as a message on Facebook.
2. I receive it on my Android mobile in the Facebook Messenger app.
3. I click on it and it shows a dialog box (you can call that a pop-up) which asks me to choose an app to open the video with.
Now earlier, there used to be video player apps on my mobile along with the internet browsers installed on my mobile that used to come up there. So I would select an internet browser, and it, in turn, would re-direct me to the YouTube app itself.
However, now, I am only getting video players in that dialog box as an option to open the YouTube video, but of course, if I select them, they are not able to stream the video.
Has anyone found a way around this problem? It is really bothersome.

As this post explains, Google has simply forbidden executables in writable app home directories from Android 10, making termux not working any more on Android 10.
However, I have multiple machines with much higher android versions and Termux runs in them without any problem.
On my only Android 10 phone (motorola moto e7), it does not (playstore says it is incompatible; f-droid version stops with cryptic error message).
What is going on? Can I somehow trick termux into the moto e7, maybe an older version?

I'm on a Pixel 4a with Android 13, and when I go to Settings -> Security -> Advanced Settings -> Encryption -> Install certificate -> CA certificate, I can select one file. When I select the .pem file it just goes back to the Install certificate screen, and when I choose the -key.pem file it says that I need a private key to install it.
I don't know much about SSL certificates so help would be very much appreciated :)

Edit: I am using mkcert to generate a certificate for a certain IP address in my network. I am using KDE connect to send the files to my phone.

I am running out of Ideas how to get MTP working _again_... I am simply not getting the dialog again on my android, asking me wether I want just charging, or MTP or Picture mode...
**Until most recently, it was easy: Use a USB cable, concect it to my Ubuntu 16.04 Laptop, get the mentioned choice/approval box...** and voilà the Tablet appeared as an MTP device in the Ubuntu ‚file explorer‘ (caja) nicely auto-mounted.
* got an Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet
* running Android 6.01
* it worked until recently in this configuration
I already followed some advice:
* I made the developer options visible (by tapping the about device info thrice)
* enabled USB debugging (which some sources say, is something to watch out for)
* dialed on the phone menu *#0808# → which shows I'am on
(o)AP
and on MTP + ADB mode
just like I should (this radio box btw only holds its state, if USB debugging is enabled)
also...
* tried different USB ports
* tried different cables
* tried with another device (MacBook. Thus I have no reason to believe, I messed something up on the host machine OS side... Ubuntu is very stable anyway)
* External Store (4kb) under Settings→Applications→“Show System Apps” is on
well, one last clue:
* Settings → Tethering has the USB switch grayed out „USB cable not connected“. Althoug it clearly is. And I can recharge my tablet through it (otherwise I would have certainly noted...)
Device is not rooted. No other glitches.
Are there maybe some log files (now that Dev mode is enabled) to check out what might got wrong?
Not looked/understood ADB yet. So I couldn't tell you, if that works. Anyway, no dialog to choose upon connecting.
I am out of ammo :-( **Thank you for any piece of advice...**

Google Lens has a feature in which the user can download offline language packs so translations can be performed without an internet connection. That sounds great, but it appears to be very buggy. Language downloads often get stuck at 80-83%, and often even if they reach 100%, they never get added as offline languages. To make matters worse, after failed downloads, Google Lens often no longer thinks the offline language translation files are available for some languages. It's a buggy mess.
How does one clear all the data/cache for Google Lens in Android 16, hopefully without clearing anything else? Clicking on the icons in the Google Lens 'Translate from' screen does not work properly.

Knowing which processor you have is very important to make sure you are downloading the right files. One app, nowadays, has multiple versions for multiple processors so that it runs smoothly on each and every phone available. If you only install apps from the Google Play Store, then knowing which CPU architecture your phone has is not necessary, but if you sideload apps, then this information is required as CPU architecture is becoming a factor in more and more scenarios these days, including certain sideloaded app updates and, of course, custom ROMs and Gapps.
As of now, there are three main CPU architectures used in Android smartphones
* ARM: ARMv7 or armeabi
* ARM64: AArch64 or arm64
* x86: x86 or x86abi
There are a couple of 3rd-party apps to find CPU architecture found from this article :
* Inware
* Droid Hardware Info
* My Device – Device info
My question is, can we find the CPU architecture of the Android phone without installing any apps?
Just in case it's relevant, the device I'm using is a Poco X2 with Android 9+.

I'd like to set up a small bash script, which I'll write on my PC but then run from my Android phone.
Objective:
- When my phone connects to the Wi-Fi at home (detection possible via the SSID), the script should do the following:
- When I get home, my phone connects to the Wi-Fi.
- It then checks whether the static IP of my NAS is responding.
- If so, it connects to the NAS via SSH.
- It only copies photos and videos taken more than 2 weeks ago.
- It copies them to the NAS, in a defined folder.
- It deletes the source files from the phone if the copy went well.
There are lots of ways of doing this, but I'm trying to find out what the best practices are for this type of automation on Android. Which applications do I use? Which way do I do it? etc.
I'm open to any kind of recommendation, as long as it's good practice and maintainable! It must be professional.

The JBL Flip 7 is capable of playing audio over USB while connected to a phone over USB-C. I just don't know if it is possible to connect two to a hub in order to be able to do what I mentioned above.
