When I start the TV app on MacOS Sequoia, I get an alert saying > The file "Application.tvdb" cannot be read. An unknown error occurred (-54). After I dismiss this I see the normal contents, and I'm able to watch a show. But while I was watching, another alert showed: > The Apple TV Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54). If I dismiss it, it shows up again a few minutes later. This one has a checkbox "Don't show this warning again"; I checked that to keep from being bothered repeatedly. I haven't used this application in a while (I usually watch Apple TV+ on my TV using Xfinity X1, my iPhone, or the browser on my Android tablet, but I'm away from home using my laptop today), so I don't know what changes may have precipitated it. Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? To answer the comment:

PS I do not have an Apple Music subscription, and I don't really want to pay to access music I already own.

**The short question is:** I want to see on my Mac, is the TV app streaming the movie at 4K, or is it 1080p. How is it done? --- My Internet speed is exactly 25Mbps, which is the Apple TV 4K's streaming requirement. (but it is right at the borderline). I read that at times, it may need up to 35Mbps to be able to stream 4K (probably when it has a lots of action scenes). So When I am streaming a movie using the TV app on the Mac, is there a way to tell whether it is 1080p or 4K it is streaming at? With YouTube showing a free video stream, it is possible. With a paid movie on the TV app, is it possible? This is how it is possible on YouTube by clicking on the Settings icon: enter image description here

I have a homemade tv show that I want to add to the Apple TV app on my Mac. I've imported the show, added all the metadata I want to, and I want to add thumbnails for each individual episode, as well as a different image for the show as a whole, just like every other show in the app. When I set the individual thumbnails, and it looks good, and then I add the show artwork, and it overrides the episode artwork. So I try it the other way around: add the show artwork, then the episode artwork. When I do *that*, the show artwork is replaced by episode 1's thumbnail. How do I have both custom show art and custom episode thumbnails? Big Sur 11.0.1

Watch apple tv on someone else's device
I purchased some media content (not a subscription) in the Apple TV app, using my iPhone. Is there any way I can watch this content on my family member's iPad? (Note, we have already set up family sharing for iCloud, and I'm not the "family organiser".)

I'd like to change the date added field on a home movie in the TV app on macOS. This will help organisation, to lay them out in correct chronological order. This field cannot be updated in the app (via get info - the field value is displayed but is not editable). Is there any practical way to do this? I tried 'show package contents' of the TV library itself, but don't know what format the data is stored in or how to edit it (opening it in text edit doesn't show anything meaningful - the data is encoded in something that's not plain text). Wondering if it's an SQLite database or something similar. (I tried opening the tvdb file inside the package with sqlite3 but it says not a database).

But when I try to do this, I always get a dialog with this message: > You cannot change the video library at this time because the current library is in use by a device. Sign in without connected devices to change your video library. I 'ejected' my iPhone in Finder and it's not even on Wi-Fi as I try this. I have also signed out of my Apple ID in System Preferences. I'd like to move the library files somewhere else, because I don't find the default locations agreeable. How can I do this?

Normally I watch TV and Movies using an Apple TV. I love being able to easily Pause and Skip Backward/Forward using the Apple TV's Siri Remote. But in other places in the house I might watch on an iPad. Or even sometimes on an iPhone. When I'm watching, I often prop the iPad up on a table or otherwise out of reach. So it's inconvenient to touch the screen. In the worst case, tapping the screen might tip over the iPad. I really just want to use a remote. ### Is it possible to control an an iPad with an Apple TV Siri Remote via Bluetooth? --- Note: I'm *not* asking about controlling an Apple TV with the iOS "Remote" app. I want the the reverse.

Adding the home video to iTunes. 2. Dragging it to the iPhone icon that appears when the phone is connected via USB cable, and 3. Using 'sync'. When Apple TV+ came out, I wasn't getting the one-year offer as I should have and got the advice from Apple's online chat to try just completely logging out and back into my Apple account. I logged out of the apps and iCloud in Settings, restarted, and logged back in, in Settings. Now I can't log back into Music, TV, or Podcasts (although Books and the App Store are just fine). I go to the Account menu → Sign In..., put in my username and password, and the login window disappears as if it's going to log in, but nothing happens in Music or TV. Podcasts actually says "something went wrong during authentication (0)". I don't get a two-factor authentication notice, and if I go back to the Account menu, it still says "Sign In..." instead of showing my account name and balance. Given the affected apps, it seems to be an issue with the iTunes store. Indeed, in Music I also (usually) can't get into the store - if I click on it, it may rarely work, but mostly it will just spin forever, or give me error 11556. Interestingly, making a test user, I can log in. I figure it has to be a plist or another setting that's been corrupted, but would be fresh on a new user. Going to the Library preferences, I deleted the iTunes store plist, and now I can see the Store, but still can't log in. What plist should control iTunes login? Or have an idea where other Apple Media Services files live? I would exhaust other options before a reinstall.
