How to get MX Player to show .gif files in file lists?

[MX Player](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro) is able to play .gif files, but does not populate its list views (i.e., internal file explorer) with them, even when explicitly defined as an extension through the relevant settings page (it accepts the change and refreshes with no error message, but nothing new loads on the front end and going back in reveals the added entry does not persist). The only way to play them is by opening through another app as video, and then selecting MX Player. I've reached out to the dev team but they have advised that as far as they are concerned, this behavior is in line with their expectations according to their categorical interpretation of the .gif file extension not qualifying as a "video" media file container (a distinction I fail to comprehend, much less concur with). In any case, I'd like to see if there's any method to take matters into my own hands, e.g., any .cfg files or similar preference store that can be modified directly to "force" persistent recognition and enumeration of the file extension?

How would I play an MP4 on a USB Flash drive connected to the Nexus 10? The drive was formatted with Ubuntu with `ext4` format. I have the MX Player but it does not see the USB Flash drive.

I have downloaded a video (~400MB) in MP4. It only plays on MX player, and when I try to play it from the Files app or from PC, it instead shows a 9-second clip of (play in MX player). What kind of programmable video container is this? How to play it with other players?

in the past WhatsApp videos opened by default in the video player you annoted on Android as the default video player. in my case all videos in my Android phone (an Xperia z ) will open with MX player which is the default player I made for all video and audio files. however newer versions of WhatsApp will force all videos to open in an internal WhatsApp player which is a very rudimentary player. it will not automatically Orient the video besides volume boosting. other than actually use an explorer and navigate to the WhatsApp video folder , is there a way to force all WhatsApp videos not to use the hapless internal WhatsApp player but use MX Player. I don't think an older version of WhatsApp that permitted will run without problems right now.,.. I very consciously avoided WhatsApp upgrades to a point where my WhatsApp itself crashed repeatedly and would not work & that is when I upgraded

I'm using Poweramp Music Player (in the background) to play music, and MX Player (in the foreground) to play videos (video lectures). What I'm looking for is to play music in the background with a specific (low) sound level (or volume level) while playing videos in the foreground on MX Player with another (higher) sound level. I'm able to play two sounds simultaneously by disabling *Permanent Audio Focus Change* (in Audio Focus ← Audio in Poweramp, hinted by this question ) but without being able to set two different sound levels for the two sounds (The sound from Poweramp and the other one from MX Player) as there is only one generic sound level for everything on the media stream that all apps abide to. How could I set **different sound levels** for two simultaneously played sounds from two different applications? Suggestions tried but unsuccessful: --- - I've tried App Volume Control , but it says: > It's not possible to have a background app and a foreground app with different volumes, this is an Android limitation. Device Info: --- ROM: Android v6.0.1 (Rooted with Xposed installed)

I know I can play those videos on VLC media player on a laptop at 2x speed but the problem is that I don't have a laptop. Suggest me what can I do. How can I watch them at 2x speed? **P.S. I use an android device version 4.1 jellybean. Also I'm not streaming the videos I have already downloaded the videos and now want to watch them offline.** Kindly help. Thank you.

This happens on Nexus 7 2013 (Google stock 5.0.2) and also happens on Galaxy Note 12.2 tablet (Samsung stock 4.4.2). I am in a dark room. I have set the system brightness to the minimum (let us call this brightness MIN). To change brightness I use swiping up/down on the left screen area. With MX Player, when the video starts playing, even the minimum brightness (which is 0) makes the screen brighter than MIN. There seems to be no way to set the brightness to MIN. I can clearly notice that the screen has been brightened, by pressing the home button or the task switch button. I can see that the screen remains bright for about 1 second then changes back to MIN. With VLC, when the video starts playing, if its previous brightness was 0, the brightness does not change and remains MIN. But if I change brightness once, changing it to 0 does not lower the brightness to MIN. At this point, VLC acts just like MX Player. Is this a bug of Android? It seems as if the system passes a false minimum brightness of the hardware to the software. Is this an intended behaviour to make video brighter? Anyways, is there any way to prevent this brightness change? This hurts my eyes when I watch videos in a dark room. ==PS== This behaviour is also happening in CyanogenMod 12 (Android 5.0.2).

I have an Android mini-pc connected to a television through a HDMI cable. I use Tasker to automatically start playing an mp4 video using MX Player when the device boots. MX Player then continues to play all the videos from the same folder in a random order and on a loop. (the task contains one action - **Open File** - under **File** I have the path to the mp4 file ) The problem is I then have Tasker set to play another mp4 video (from another directory) using MX Player one hour after the device has booted but MX Player ignores this and continues to play the current video. (the second task is the same as the first- it contains one action - **Open File** - under **File** I have the path to the mp4 file ) The reason why I need to use MX Player (instead of BS Player, VLC etc.) is because it has more options than the other players like the option to play all the videos in the same folder in shuffle and on a loop, resize the video so it fills the screen, play each video from the beginning and hide the video controls from the screen. I have also tried using the Tasker action **Send Intent** - *Action: android.intent.action.VIEW* - *Data: path to mp4 file* - *Package: com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad* - *Target: Activity* But this produced the same results - As MX Player was playing a video this task would run telling it to play a video and MX Player would ignore it and continue to play its current video. Is there any way of getting Tasker to play a video using MX Player while MX Player is currently playing another video?

As far as I know there is nothing in 4.3 that makes a code change neccessary. I have tried RealPlayer as well, it says the same. There might have been some serious changes after all. Then again, VLC player is working. I am more and more confused.
