I have 2 mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy S II and a Galaxy Grand. The Galaxy S2 has Android 2.3.6 and the Galaxy Grand has Android 4.2. When I am trying to connect the Grand to my PC, it gives me 2 options: MTP and Camera. MTP is media Transfer mode, and when I select it, restricts speed. On the other hand, the S2 has USB mode which works fine for me. So is there any way that I can connect the Galaxy Grand with USB mode?

After recording with Field Recorder , I connect my Lenovo S6000L via USB to my PC. However, the newly recorded audio files in WAV format are not visible until I reboot the tablet. Android version is 4.2.2. *Is that likely an OS or an app issue? Can I avoid the lengthy reboot?*

As a Linux user, it sometimes gets too tedious to get MTP working. So I want the USB mass storage feature back. The main reason is that my TV doesn't support MTP. I used to watch movies and videos from my old Android device via USB mass storage on my TV, but I can't do that with MTP anymore. I am also ready to root my phone or install a custom ROM. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. I can't connect it to my Windows XP laptop. When I connect it with a USB cable, it's not getting mounted and thus I'm unable to transfer any files. On my laptop, Samsung Kies is not installed, hope it may be the problem. But my laptop, Kies is not getting installed, it's showing "no internet connected!!" even if I am connected to WiFi. I am totally stuck, please can anyone help?

If I either connect my camera using a USB cable via OTG or insert the SD card in an OTG reader connected to the phone, Android creates automatically two folders: an Android folder and a Lost.Dir folder. The problems are - 1. That as long as these two folders are on the camera (a Pentax K50), this latter thinks that the SD is not properly formatted and asks me if I want to format it or otherwise I cannot use it again. And indeed if I delete the two folders using my PC, I can then start using the card again. Obviously, I cannot format it. 2. That I cannot delete these folders on the phone without reliably preventing Android from recreating them. Also, the two folders remain on the SD even if I properly eject the OTG storage. 3. That I am going on a trip and I won't be having a PC with me to use to remove the folders. Given all of the above, how can I then transfer the photos from my camera to the smartphone?

There is a USB GPT driver. One partition is hidden. How could I open that partition on an Android tablet? I know I can unhide that partition on Windows system. But can I open it on Android? Thank you for your help.

I have an ACME TB709-3G tablet with Android 4.2.2 installed on it. I was able to connect this tablet to my Ubuntu 14.04 TLS laptop before, but recently when I press the "Turn on USB storage" button, Android restarts. What is the problem and how can I fix this issue?

I accidentally removed my whole file system on my LG G3 Beat (a.k.a mini) D723tr running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. I tried to recover my files with my Linux Mint (Rosa) PC using PhotoRec program, but PhotoRec can only detect directly connected devices to the system. My phone only makes connections with MTP and PTP. If I can mount my phone to my PC as a UMS (USB mass storage), PhotoRec will detect my device. Is there any way to mount my phone as UMS?

I would like to mount my Samsung Galaxy **S7 (SM-G930F)** to an folder using **simple-mtpfs** and I cannot do it as I used to (on previous Fedora and older Galaxy S4). When I mount an image in USB Mountr on Android 6 and use an OTG cable to connect the device to a Windows PC, two devices appear and two drives appear in File Explorer with the first one non-functional and the second being the image. Why does this happen and how can I prevent this?

But I'd expect it will be automatically mounted and visible in user space. I also know that it works for many people using Raspberry Pi and LineageOS. I also don't have any other issues with USB. I have keyboard, touchscreen, webcam and other things and all works fine. **Only storage not**. The only difference is that I am using Compute Module 4 instead of regular Raspberry Pi 4. But I cannot imagine it's a hardware issue. Any ideas what the issue might be? Alternatively: Is there a way to mount a storage that way that I can access it from GUI? I'm trying to recover an accidentally deleted video from Huawei P10. I use Ubuntu, so I tried to recover it using photorec. The problem is that I can't see the mobile's internal storage or SD card storage in the list:

The first row is an HDD, the second row is SSD, the third is an external HDD, and the last row is present only when the mobile is connected to the PC. The mobile is connected to the PC through a USB cable and I've set the Transfer files option. Same result with Transfer photos. Do you know what to do?

It would be cool to make android behave as if it's a real USB drive when connecting the device to TV and PC(s). So we don't get things like "Unsupported" and make many things possible. I tried doing some diggings and found it was pretty easy in older versions of Android according to this xda post due to USB mass storage. Since it was possible to emulate as USB drive, I'm sure it still is possible now. **In Android 4.4 I found a structure sys>devices>virtual>android_usb>android0>f_mass_storage. My guess is, this can be used for emulating USB drive(guess cause, I'm a total newbie yet to firefup Android studio and write code on it). But I can't find this structure on Android 10(f_mass_storage is missing). Is there there something like this in Android 10 or any workaround with it in Android 10? **mount my system file. Create a block device mmcblk1(not sure if I used the right term, like /dev/sda in Linux). Format it with USB alike file type( like /dev/sda1 in Linux ). And somehow direct to this location when a USB cable is connected to a TV or etc throught an app. Also do I have build a USB drive protocal here instead of Android default protocol?, it's kinda getting messy..... Whenever I connect my mobile to Laptop I'm not able to view mass Storage option. Instead of that only getting "Lenovo CD" option which includes USBdrivers and other Lenovo softwares. (MTP option is already enabled). Current Android Version: marshmallow 6.0

I have a Nexus 6 (just factory reset). When I connect it to my computer through USB, it charges, but nothing else. My computer doesn't recognize any new device being plugged in, and my phone does not pop up with the dialog asking what I want to do (Charge, MTP, PTP, etc.), nor do I get a notification asking this, even when pulling down from the notification drawer. I am running Android 6.0. I have another Nexus 6, and it works fine. When I plug the first Nexus 6 into any computer, I have the same issue, while the second device works fine in any computer. I have tried Windows and Mac computers.

Android has removed support for UMS (USB Mass Storage) in favor of MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) for connecting to a computer. MTP works similar in terms of copying and pasting files and folders to and from the Nexus device, but for example if there's a movie file, double clicking it on Windows requires it to be copied locally first instead of just starting my media player like a normal UMS storage would. Any way to stream movies like this using MTP?

I want to sync some pics from my phone onto my laptop but I can't since the drop down notification bar is not showing. This means I can't turn on the USB to connect to my laptop. I have hard reset my phone back to factory settings and it still won't show. I've been trying for 5 hours now and I can't work out how to get it to connect to my laptop.

I connected my phone using USB in **Mass storage mode(MSC)** to a **HUMAX** TV receiver, and after I disconnect the phone, when I opened the sd card in a files explorer app, all of the files and folders were named "FSCKxxxx.REN" except 8 folders and 3 files also the folders that are named "FSCKxxxx.REN" contain files named "FSCKxxxx.REN", and it looks like that the original size of the files didn't change. What is the cause of this problem, and how to fix it, is it even fixable without root? I searched for before I ask, but I couldn't fix the problem, maybe because I don't have root.

My apps won't start up if they do its not long enough to use them. Either they just close as soon as i open them or a message reading (app name) has stopped responding and its even apps that I haven't opened like my Google play will pop up saying it has stopped. I'm not sure what to do I've shutoff and restarted my phone I've uninstalled and reinstalled my apps anf it works for a minute but then it's right back to crashing. I can't even use google to search it won't allow me to type more than 1 letter and it freezes then closes the app...
