I’m experiencing an issue with macOS where clicking a link in Slack (which I have open in one Space) opens the link in Firefox (which is in another Space), but macOS no longer automatically switches me to the Space with Firefox. Previously, this would work as expected, where clicking a link would take me straight to Firefox’s Space.
I’ve tried restarting both apps, as well as macOS, but the issue persists. I’m wondering if another app or setting might be interfering with this behavior.
"When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application" option is turned on.
Thanks!

Apparently I hit some shortcut combination that caused Slack to automatically collapse the sidebar that contains the list of Channels and Direct Messages.
There is an option to **temporarily** show the Sidebar in the View menu:
we now temporarily see the left sidebar
But after clicking in conversation area the sidebar will still hide itself again.
I have looked at Preferences | Sidebar and it does not have any setting related to hide/show:
Is there any way to do a "factory reset" on the Slack settings but retain the existing channels? In other words I do not want to completely reinstall Slack unless necessary.

The only way I found so far is to click on the search icon on the left bar, write the string to search followed by
in:channelname
. It's quite tedious to have to write down the channel name. I don't have to do it when accessing Slack via a web browser. I feel I may have missed something in the Slack app.

I have two users who are reporting that the Slack app continues to send them to the System Preferences→Security & Privacy→Privacy->Screen Recording list when they try and screen share.
They have confirmed that it is checked. They have restarted the Mac, and tried re-installing Slack. Nothing seems to work. I asked one to go in to the Slack Preferences→Audio & Video and run
Run an audio, video and screen sharing test
and usually it says Screen sharing is denied, occasionally it says it should work, but it doesn't when they try again.
Of course I cannot replicate the problem at all.

When I get a Slack message, a banner pops up on the screen. When I have read the message in the Slack app, I still have to click the banner to make it go away. I would like it to go away on its own when the message has been read.
Also, see Remove seen notifications from Notification Centre .

When I press Ctrl+Shift+A in Slack, I see the "Go" toolbar header light up, but nothing happens. This is true for other toolbar entries in Slack as well, such as "Switch to Channel". How can I get application-specific shortcuts to work?
Clicking the toolbar entry manually works, but it seems that activating it with a shortcut does not.

This third step did NOT log me out of my workspaces FWIW.

I'm running Slack desktop on an Intel Macbook pro running macOS Ventura 13.5.1.
Sometimes when I switch the focus back to Slack I see a dialog popup along the lines of
Pasting from XXX's Macbook
.
I did not hit Ctrl+V, I did not right-click and select paste and no pasted text appears anywhere in Slack.
It seems as if Slack is "silently" copying my clipboard. I have come across one other report of this behaviour: https://www.reddit.com/r/Slack/comments/xqgfeg/slack_for_mac_silently_copying_clipboard_contents/
I'm not sure if this related to Apple's continuity feature in someway.
I'd like to understand what is going on and, if possible, disable whatever is causing the issue.

I have noticed that whenever I join a Microsoft Teams call or a Slack huddle my bluetooth peripherals randomly lose connection.
I have a bluetooth headset connected (usually either Samsung WH noise cancelling headphones or AirPods Pro 2), a mouse (Logitech MX Master 3) and a keyboard (Logitech Mechanical Mini or Keychron K2), when the call starts within 30 seconds or so the keyboard disconnects completely (I have to tap the keys a few times to get to re-establish connection), mouse becomes laggy occasionally and sometimes the audio experiences a lag.
It almost feels like macOS is prioritising the headphones and disconnects everything else. All the devices are within a few inches of each other on a desk so I can't think it's interference. As soon as the call ends everything goes back to normal. Interestingly this is **not** an issue when I plug headphones to the AUX port. So looks like it's directly related to being on a call and using bluetooth headsets.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Can you suggest potential causes or fixes?
(I'm using a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip and 16GB of RAM, Ventura 13.2.1)

Slack seems not to recognize my video input, it just displays the EOS Webcam Utility logo, which makes me think is a Slack issue and not OS related.

Is there any way to add Slack to the Share menu on a Mac?

Integrate Grammarly with Slack
I used to have Grammarly and Slack integrated. Every time I wrote a message in Slack, I had Grammarly suggestions, but when I replaced my computer, I couldn’t make that work again. I am unsure which steps I followed to make it work, and I couldn’t find the solution on Google.

In short:
When a direct chat with someone is open, in the background, I don't see new messages notifications from that someone.
Longer version using a scenario:
I usually work in maximize mode, meaning, I only see one app at a time. This is great for focus. Especially when developing.
I'm chatting with a team mate who sent me a message. I see the notification, click on it and see the message. I then copy something that he sent me, say thanks and try to run what he sent me on a different window. In the meantime, I don't see the slack app, as it's below the dev tool I'm using.
In the meantime, my mate, sent me a correction to what he sent earlier.
The problem is that I don't get any notification that he sent me a new message, breaking my head over the previous sample, trying to understand why isn't it working.
If I would have closed the direct chat with my mate, I would have seen a notification.

No, dear readers, as the Internet might have you believe, none of *these* things work on a 2017 Macbook Pro, the kind with the touchbar:
- Fn+Enter
- Fn+M
- Fn+.
- Fn+Option+Enter
Somehow, someway, when I was pasting some text I ended out getting into overtype mode in Slack and now it's stuck that way.
Internet documentation might work if I had an older computer or one with keys that I don't have, but there's nothing I've been able to find that will tell me how to turn off this dratted overtype mode. And it's seriously annoying.
Any clue how to turn it off?
