I have a galaxy S20+, and multiple times per day, when I pick up my phone or pull it out of my pocket and turn the screen on, the flashlight comes on too. It's very annoying.
The flashlight is supposed to turn on if the screen is off and you hold the power button. But often it happens immediately when tapping quickly to turn on the screen, instead of waiting for holding the button.
I don't know why or how this happens. If I try to make it happen, I can't. When I try to replicate the problem, the flashlight won't turn on unless I explicitly turn off the screen and then hold the power button for a second or so, like it's supposed to. The problem just happens when I don't want it to and I can't figure out how to fix.
Half the day my flashlight is on without me realizing, because it happens so much. When I'm at the gym I will often see the flashlight on through my pocket. It's so annoying. Often it shines into my eyes and hurts.
I've looked through all the system settings intensely many times. I can't find any setting. Nothing in the side key has any effect.
I disabled Automate and Button Mapper, but still it happens, so it's not caused by those apps.
I looked through Firefds Kit and Gravity Box, but no setting is there. After months being annoyed by this and unable to solve, I'm coming here in hopes someone can help.
Button Mapper can remap my volume key to do the same thing, so I really just want to fully disable the power key from turning on flashlight while screen off, to solve the problem.
How can I do that? I'm rooted and willing to try anything.
--
Update I found out that it happens only when the phone has been sitting or in my pocket and is picked up and try to turn the screen on at the same time, and it turns on the flashlight. Haven't figured out how to solve it yet.

The phone itself (Samsung Galaxy A10s) does not have a built-in flash brightness control, and there is no root either. So, how can you adjust the power of a flashlight, what applications are there for this (maybe even somehow through Termux)? Samsung Galaxy A10s phone, Android 11, all updates installed.

I was using my Samsung Galaxy A13 phone like normal. I could take pictures, run apps, etc. I turned on developer mode on my Samsung A13 unlocked phone and I noticed that, while running my phone in developer mode, I could no longer use the flashlight. I turned off developer mode, tried to turn on the flashlight, and it still wouldn't turn on. I went to the retail outlet that sold me the phone and they could not get it working. I exchanged the phone for another one. I noticed that, at the end of the data transfer process, the flashlight on the original device started working!
My question is, what do I have to do to get my flashlight back? I tried a factory reset of the device and the flashlight still does not work. What other options are there? I tried doing a settings reset on all applications and that did not work.

Turning the IR-Cam on/off, rebooting the phone, turning off the phone, factory-reset etc. didn't work. It stays on all the time, even when the phone powers itself off due to low battery.
I now rooted my phone and hoped that I may be able to manually deactivate it via /sys/class/ but could not find the directory associated with the IR-hardware.
Any suggestions how I could find the correct directory?
Or any other suggestion how I could turn off the lights?

Is it possible to edit this file without custom recovery? Any other chance?

Any better ideas? Is there a way to make it two shakes, back to back?

My Device: POCO M2 Pro
Useless Feature: If flashlight is on and screen is turned off, then pressing the power button will turn off the flashlight first instead of waking the screen.
My Question: How to disable this feature? It is set like this by default and there are no settings to change it.
If my screen is off, I can't turn it on when my phone's flashlight is being used for some purpose where a temporary cut off from light source would be a problem.
Disabling MIUI optimisations and then doing something is not preferred. Double tap to wake screen gestures etc. are not solutions to my problem. What if I press the power button accidentally!
Thank you in advance. **Any suggestions are welcome.**

I have recently faced a problem on Android regarding the flashlight.
When the flashlight is turned 'on', the flashlight icon in the status bar gets highlighted.
When I am turning 'on' the flashlight, it is staying on for sometime and it automatically gets switched off suddenly after some time, but the icon in the status bar still stays highlighted, which indicates that the flashlight is turned on. Same thing happens for the front flashlight.
Can anybody say what can be the reason for this automatic and random turning off of the flashlight ?
Additional information : There is no fixed time interval for the automatic switch off, it is occuring randomly.

I wanted to use the light with the camera, then it said that some other app is using the light and I see that the two icons on the right on the top are faded out. It's so horrible getting a high-end smartphone and I cannot even use the light with the camera. What can I do? [

I suspect that this may be caused by inadvertent use of some physical shortcut or hack that turns the flashlight on, but I have searched carefully and have not found it.
Can anyone offer some ideas?

I'm looking to use an old phone (like a Nexus 5 or Honor 5X) as a nighttime security camera with the [Manything app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manything.manythingviewer) , but this doesn't seem practical as I just can't get the flashlight working.
I plan to use Macrodroid/Tasker to turn the flashlight on automatically at night (as Manything doesn't natively support it), but the problem is that the flashlight turns off when opening the Manything camera view and can not be turned on while using the camera.
Is there a way to keep the flashlight on while using the camera in Manything? Or is there an Android skin which allows the flashlight to be turned on while the rear flashcamera is active?
