I am writing from my Android. On my laptop, it's pretty simple to choose to open a PDF file directly in the browser rather than opening it in an external program. The problem comes when I try to open it on Android. I am usually asked to download it, and it will open with a PDF Viewer. I would like it to open directly in Chrome because - moreover -- I'd like to get a link to the PDF file. Usually, on Android, you can link to the website, and then the receiver will have to download the PDF so that they can view it. I would like to be readable directly in the browser.

I have a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, it's configured in Dutch. When I want to see a PDF file, saved in my Downloads directory, it asks me which app to use, on which I choose "PDF-lezer", but it says to modify "machtiging" in "opslag" related configurations. Ok, this means that I need to open the configuration, go to app-configuration, choose the "PDF-lezer" app, and modify the corresponding "Machtiging" (permission) about "Opslag" (local saving). Problem: the "PDF-lezer" does not appear in the list of apps, there is nothing like "PDF..." in the app list. Question: how can I allow "PDF-lezer" to access files stored locally on my smartphone?

I have PDF files in my Android, especially in Dropbox. When I open a file, it's opened by the the Dropbox PDF Viewer. Once opened, there is an option, the button"Open with". If I open the the button, a little window opens with a choice of PDF apps, as Adobe Acrobat, CamScanner, Xiaomi PDF Viewer, etc. When I choose and app, I can click on 'just once' or 'remember this choice'. I'm not sure that I reproduced the accurate words. I'm accustomed to click 'just once'. But accidentally I clicked on Adobe Acrobat, remember this choice. So the PDFs went opened everytime with it. I want to reverse the process and get back the multiple choice. I tried to find a way through the app settings, but nowhere I'd find Adobe Acrobat as default settled. Can someone guide me how to get my old setting? Note. My phone is a Xiaomi Poco F3. Note: I tried this: 1. Apps 1. Manage Apps 1. (A vertical line of three points in the right upper corner of the screen) 1. Other settings 2. Default Apps 3. Opening links 4. To deactivate Adobe Acrobat reader. But it's inefficient. Can someone give me a solution?

If, from the file name and date, I can guess what extension they should have, I can usually get them to open by adding that extension manually. Does anyone know of an app, or a command, that examines a file and returns a filetype? Ideally one that can then append the correct extension. I believe most of these files are probably ebooks, PDFs, or some kind of media. If any of them are actually exes, I want to delete them, not run them.

When opening PDFs in "Files by Google" it always opens in Drive PDF Viewer. I want them to open in Adobe. I've looked online and got a lot similar issue, but none of the fixes work for me. Here is what I found in other posts and tried: - Clearing cache and storage in Drive and Files. - Selecting "Don't allow app to open links" in "Open by Default" for both Drive and Files. - There is no PDF option in "Setting"->"Apps"->"Default apps" for me to change. - Denying Files the "Modify system settings" permission. - Temporarily installing another PDF viewer to force a default app prompt when opening PDFs from Files (which it doesn't). - Temporarily installing another file manager and selecting Adobe as my default PDF viewer. It doesn't carry to Files. - Disabling Drive, opening the PDF from Files while Adobe is my only viewer. It opens in Adobe automatically but goes back to Drive as soon as I enable it again. - Disabling Drive, opening the PDF in Files while I have multiple viewers available, selecting Adobe and clicking "Always". It goes back to opening in Drive as soon as I enable it again. I am using a Google Pixel 8 Pro with Android 14. I had the same problem with my Pixel 6 for the past two+ years and possibly my older pixel 3, but I don't quite remember.

Android doesn't seem to support external touchpad (usb or wireless) pinch gesture for zooming in and out? I tried a few external wireless keyboards with touchpads built-in, while the touchpad works for pinch on Mac and Windows, it didn't work for pinch-zooming on Android. So my guess it's not possible. I use my Android TV box (BuzzTV box, Android 9) as an Android desktop for apps e.g. PDF reader. Also tried using normal mouse, scroll wheel and ALT or CTRL or whatever combination it is typically.. I understand Android 14 has support for external keyboards but I don't see mentioned whether it also provides pinch zoom gestures for external touchpads. Not planning to upgrade the TV box yet. To solve the external keyboard compatibility, there is an app called External Keyboard Helper for Android. That solves the keyboard issue. But I can't find anything similar that would allow me to use pinch/zoom on external touchpad. Some apps have support for keyboard shortcuts (Alt+leftButton+arrowRight/arrowLeft works for me), but most apps do not support this. The issue is not related to this specific tv box. I tried other brands TV boxes and it is the same problem. Is it a universal Android limitation? UPDATE: Here I found some answer.. But I am still looking for a way to pinch zoom a PDF. So I guess my question needs to be - is there any app for PDF that supports pinch and zoom natively on non-touchscreen pointing interfaces? https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/82062/how-to-pinch-zoom-on-device-with-no-touchscreen-like-an-android-stick

I'm on Android Oreo which is version 8. This has introduced a way to no longer need any services outside of the Android OS and instead [use its "Default Printing Service"](https://9to5google.com/2017/08/22/android-8-0-oreos-default-print-service/) for printing with an Android phone. These outside services include *Google's Cloud Print, HP, Canon, Xerox, & several others.* Besides those services, you may stick with the built-in one provided by Android itself and it's called "Default Print Service by Android", and in order to begin using it, you'll first have to enable it if not done so already. To do this, go to Settings -> Advanced -> Printing -> Select it, then enable. Now, what it'll do is search for the printers in your network and you know this by what WiFi you're on using your phone. The problem is, after the list refreshes, you can't go any further. It just let you know: *these are the printers in your network and nothing more.* I see the printer I'm going to use to print to, but unable to do anything more than to identify that it's in my network by displaying an IP underneath it. So, I did [online research with those responsible](https://mopria.org/android-8-9-faq#collapse1) and that didn't help because there's no instructions as to how to print. So then, I'm left with a recognized printer not being able to have the option to print or at least show me how to get to the option to print. My question is **how do you print from Android using the Default Print Service besides just using it as a tool to view printers in your network?** # PROBLEM * Android's "Default Print Service" only shows printers but is unable to choose a printer for printing + An example of me printing is viewing a PDF document and for Android, you have to either find the following options when viewing a file via cogwheel/3-button icon: - *Share...* - *Send To...* - *Open With...* + At this point I don't see "Default Print Service" as a selection and this is the problem # SOLUTION * None-so-far #### NOTE * Finding "Default Print Service" in Android may vary with different phones + Location: Settings -> Advanced -> Printing * Files can be images to anything with text like a PDF or even a txt file

Suppose I have a long-scrolling screenshot that I took with a phone, and when I convert it using those apps, it looks like the screenshot is just put on the regular-size white background page as you can see below. > Image I know there are lots of Android apps that are able to convert images to PDF, but the problem is all of them, mostly, include a white background. I've tried the online version as well, but still the same. I know this is possible because I used an app called Xodo, it only converts the first image without background, but the page from 2 to the end has a white background around it. Do you know if there's an app that could do that or another way, so it's just the screenshot being the page, with no white background included?

I'm using a Xiaomi MI 9 SE phone (Android v11, MIUI Global v12.5.1). For quite a long time now, I've had the problem of not being able to open PDF files attached to WhatsApp messages I receive. When I double-click them, the app I choose either shows nothing, or immediately quits (depends on the app). I tried to check the app permissions, and there are no permissions - that I know off - that WhatsApp is missing. I also tried updating WhatsApp, which didn't help. I do not have this problem with other messaging applications, e.g. Telegram. Also, the different viewers / handling apps are able to open PDFs from other sources. What's the cause of this problem, and what can I do about it? Note: My situation is not the same as in Cannot open PDF files received on WhatsApp directly , where the user was getting an error message about not having the appropriate app for the content type.

Do I need to install a system plugin/extension or something? Edit 1: can you "hack" the pdf feature into the webview by e.g. rooting the phone? Edit 2: as I understand from the answers it's the AOSP developers' intention to make the pdf feature unavailable, contrary to say legal reason with adobe?

I have installed an app from play store, which contains pdf files. When I click on download button the app download them in such way that these files are only able to be opened in that app. (Like how youtube saved videos offline) I cannot share these files to my PC. When I went to Android/Data/XYZAPP/Files, I get to see these files. But I cannot open them directly. They have no file extension (e.g. 234828173) I tried to open them with bin file viewer. They contains a lot of binary or hex code. Those are the pdf files (because if I download 2 pdf there shows 2 files if I download +1 there gets a +1 file, except them there are no files in that specific app data folder), how can I open them like I open other normal pdf files. Thanks
