On Tuesday, July 8, 2025 something very weird happened to my iPhone 16 on T-Mobile with an eSIM in the U.S.; personal device. Sharing the just in case anyone else experiences similar.

This all happened on an iPhone 16 (MYD33LL/A) running iOS 18.5. At around 7:00pm, I was looking at my iPhone home screen and noticed that the temperatures my weather app on my iPhone 16 (running iOS 18.5) suddenly changed from Fahrenheit (U.S. region) to Celsius. Like it was 80-90F and the app was showing temperatures that were 20-30C. Very odd because I didn’t do anything that would cause that. *** **PS**: I didn’t receive any SMS messages, emails or notifications of anything about anything. I simply saw temperatures in Celsius and my “Language & Region” set to “world” which is not a region that is offered by Apple during the initial iPhone setup or even afterwards in “Settings -> General > Language & Region.” Very odd. **PPS**: No other Apple device that is associated with the iPhone Apple ID was affected. Two-factor authentication for the Apple ID is set, its password hasn’t been changed but again, two-factor authentication is set. **PPPS**: I just sent an email to product-security@apple.com that is basically a condensed version of this post just in case this is a novel (aka: zero-day) exploit.

I just started seeing this screen appear on my phone. It's an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.1 - factory unlocked - never jailbroken - never done anything even remotely unusual with it. It's obviously a hack of sorts. I didn't press "accept" or "decline" just took a screenshot. There is no "app" visible on the home screen, and nothing running in the background (that I can see). Can't find anything online that relates as to what this could be, or where it could come from. Very curious to know. Notes: - The back button just takes you to the home screen. - I wiped the phone to factory settings, and the screen reappeared while I was still on the "hello/welcome" page. - This is not a support question. I 'm curious to know if anybody has heard of this exploit. Image

I have found multiple instances where the only possibility is that I am being remotely hacked through screen mirroring. I believe this for the following reasons: **Remotely** 1) I have found open tabs/websites I know for a fact I didn’t open. Not even accidentally. They were opened when I was on cellular data and 1,000 miles away. a) One of the websites was about how to open the terminal on an IPad. b) I have also seen tabs explaining how to use Microsoft shell for adding scripts to IOS. c) He was using my Gmail account to send e-mails, which I saw for myself and was home alone. **Mirroring** 2) I have been on my Mac while he was on it at the same time and watched (and deleted) the different scripts he was adding. a) The settings, name, devices doesn’t show a separate device. enter code here **My question is:** How do I go into the terminal, find the script or code that was placed there for the purpose of spying on me and delete it. **Extra info:** Yes, the person has physical access.Yes this is across all of my Apple devices. Iphone 14, IPad Air 4, MakBook Pro 2017. All on Beta IOS 17, all up to date. **I have tried the following:** 1) I purchased an additional wi-fi router with service that has a static IP address, which I often call to have changed. 2) Deleted anything and everything Google 3) I have been constantly changing my passwords/passcodes for Apple ID almost weekly, writing them down and putting them in my safe. 3) I have a good VPN that was highly recommended. 4) I am on my 8 out of 10 Apple ID’s from factory resets and not reloading the cloud. Sorry this is long, but I wanted to get all the info in. This has been going on for the past 3 years.

Can I install a custom OS on iPhone 5s?
I got myself an owned iPhone 5s to have some fun. Today I got extra adventurous and would like to try some "unofficial" operating systems like Android and postmarketOS. Unfortunately, a quick search with Google didn't give me much information.

Usually when I am doing some development on my mac, I ssh into a virtual machine running on my computer at a 172 address. However, when I was ssh ing into it today, I accidentally mistyped the address (forgot to add a 0 at the very end of the ip). However, once I accidentally ran this ssh command, it didn't immediately disconnect my computer, but rather, just had a blank output. Now, to my knowledge, I believe that 172 addresses are private addresses. But I want to make sure, did running that ssh command on the mistyped IP address compromise my computer in any way? Thank you all for all of your help

My MacBook Air was sent to a Technical Service from Apple in May 2022 because the login password didn’t work anymore and some strange things happened from that day to the present that concern me. The 1st one is that a program I used recently said to me that the computer has a JailBreak and it is at my own risk use from this device the app. From investigating a lot through Google about this I discovered using the Terminal of my MacBook the following output that makes me scared: <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy"> As you can see in the images there are two users Leandritus console and Leandritus ttys000. In the description you can see a lot of crashes, reboots and shutdown that I think I didn’t made. Can anyone let me know what the information of each item in the terminal means? And if I was hacked what I can do for protect from these people? Buy a new device?

I want to be able to scale the user interface [like the retina macs do](http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5266) , but I can't seem to find a way to do that. screenshot from Apple Support Does anyone know a way to trick the computer into thinking it has a retina display, so the options are available in the Display PrefPane? That, or some utility that might let me access those settings. Note, I'm not really talking about HiDPI mode, I've done that, it only has the option of pixel doubling. I want the variable scaling that is available on true retina displays. I'm running mountain lion on a 2.5 GHz i5 iMac, about 1.5 years old. **Edit 9 years later:** This question seems to confuse people into thinking it's about screen resolution, but it's **only** about interface scaling. I'm pretty convinced by now it's not easily possible, but answers talking about resolution are missing the point.

He soon downloaded it onto his phone, change my AppleID password, and locked me out. I lost a lot of stuff because of this. I was too slow to freeze all my assets, and he took a chunk. I changed all my passwords, but wondering does he have a copy of my Google Authenticator too. And can gain access to my stuff again. If anyone can give me an answer it would be great because Apple says they don't know.

The user is not know to the system. I never used Xcode (but I am a developer), and I didn't install any software in the last few days, but these files and folders appered within the last few hours. It's creepy that these files have suspicios names, all related to auth things. Can somebody please give me a hint what is going on here ? Big thanks! enter image description here

I think I'm being hacked. (This is a theoretical scenario, based on a real occurrence.) I have clear evidence that someone unknown is able to remote access my Mac. The Mac wakes unexpectedly, the cursor can be seen moving, windows & files are being accessed & opened. The attacker can also be seen accessing the webcam & showing the current view of the room. My drive is encrypted. Why doesn't this prevent their accessing it? I don't know whether this is being done from nearby or at a distance. If I switch off my router, they still seem capable of this access. How do I analyse & prevent this from happening in future? This question is 'poached' from [SuperUser](https://superuser.com/questions/1706062/how-do-i-prevent-remote-access-to-my-mac) , currently closed & showing no signs of being re-opened. As such it will eventually be swept away by the system. *Edit March 22 - the post is now deleted*. The original question was a paranoid mess, but I thought the answer may be of benefit to Ask Different, so this is a complete recast of the question.

My iPad just displayed a notification “unlock iPad to use USB accessories” or something. Nothing was plugged in. Other details: Bluetooth was on and an Apple Pencil was connected. There was a keyboard attached via the Smart Connector (3 metallic dots on the back of the iPad). The only thing I could think of that was remotely related was that I took the keyboard off briefly then put it back on. Was I getting hacked via some high-tech bluetooth exploit that disguises itself as a USB accessory? (I know it sounds crazy but it just reminds me of the Windows thing a while ago where there were USB sticks that made the system believe they were keyboards so that they could execute code as if you had typed it in)

This is kind of an unusual question: a (non-technical) friend of mine (quite literally) on the other side of the world finds herself in the following situation: A person died unexpectedly, their Mac is still running and displaying the Lock Screen, and nobody has the password nor any sort of technical expertise. They would like to get access to at least the data on the disk, maybe also the account. They are currently afraid to shut down the computer because it displays a warning about unsaved files. Is there any chance they can get into the account from the Lock Screen? I guess not. Failing that, what would be the easiest way to gain access to the data (after a forced reboot)? Single User Mode?

Do you know of any attempt to hack an iPad and make it larger by using a larger screen and a custom case? I know iPad screen can be reused : recycling retina iPad screen as monitor . But I'd need the opposite : fit a noname screen+digitizer in an iPad. I would prefer a solution for first generations of iPad. But last gen will be fine too as usb-c native mirroring on external display will probably help. EDIT there are ligthning or usb-c adaptor adapters where you can plug usb trackpad but they need at least iPadOs 13.4. So you'll need : - iPad 5th gen - iPad mini 4th gen - iPad Air 2 - any iPad pro
