I have a HTC Desire X. I have set Exchange ActiveSync to download past 3 days. However, why does it not keep older mails which are already downloaded? i.e. on Friday, I can see mails from Tuesday on. On Saturdays, I can only from Wednesday on. The Tuesday email which was already downloaded and read is no longer visible?
**Is there a way to make not delete the local copy of older emails?**
There is an earlier question which is similar - https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/28780/why-does-stock-email-app-only-keep-25-latest-emails
However I don't think the accepted answer there is relevant here. From that answer
> to prevent large transfers of data that end up using the device communication thus leading to a faster battery drain;
Why would keeping older mails cause large transfer of data? The older mails are already downloaded and are there on your phone.
> to preserve memory consumption that in turn would leave your device slow and inefficient.
Just because the older mails are there on disk, it will not increase memory consumption. A better way to program it would be display '3' days but have a way to show older ones on demand - since the app would read it from disk only on demand, it wouldn't increase memory consumption.
My phone runs Android 4.0.4.

I used to have Outlook for Android installed on my personal mobile to access my work email which runs on Office 365. I reinstalled it recently only to find that now I have to install Microsoft Intune Company Portal and make it a device administrator to proceed with logging in (I couldn't get around it by restoring from a Titanium Backup of when I had it installed before).
I think this is somewhat overkill when all the same information and more can be accessed via a web browser anyway, so I don't want to give Microsoft almost total control of my phone just to get my work email and contacts if I can avoid it.
I tried the app Nine because I heard that it could set the security policies to be at the app level instead of the device lever, but when I logged in, I still got nothing except one email telling me I had to install Intune. The same thing happened with the Gmail app and Mailwise, but on those, I could see an empty version of my folder directory.
Somehow logging in through Cloudmagic was actually seamless as far as grabbing my email, but it has no support yet for syncing contacts between Exchange and the device. I actually wanted the contacts *more* than the email in order to get some mobile numbers.
So, what's the best way to work around Intune? Installing it but neutering it via Xprivacy or another permissions manager? Finding another app that will do for contacts what Cloudmagic did for email? I'm less concerned about adding my calendar.

I believe my old friend and of recent girlfriend could be hacking me. I dont check often but happen to browse my activity abd noticed sight or applications I've never heard of let alone used further more they were all similar and close together so I'm sure I would know if searched. So in looking up some of these sites / apps they are legitimate but also could all be used to munipilate me. The sites were....
..Com.android systemui
..com.samsung accessibility
..com.android settings
..google play store device connected,...I read your article and can confirm I don't or have ever connected or used another device, this activity was at the very same time that I was on my phone looking at a site about claiming company petrol spend,so naturally worries me
..com.samsung.android.messenging
..Com.OSP app sing in
Com.samsung.android.vision intelligence
..com.sec.android app camera
..com.samsung.android dialer
..com.android server telecom
Com.samsung.android incallui
These were in order of searches which started a 13:42 and ended at 17:39 there was a few searches repeated a couple of times like settings and accessibility.
Like I said I don't ir gave I ever used another device, no tablet, second phone nothing, all I gave done in the past is used smartphone on th TV but nit for some time. Please please help me and help turn thus language into a course of intended actions I can understand...thank u

I have a user with a new Nexus 5X. It is configured to sync his personal (Gmail) email and work (Exchange) email (using the Gmail app). Gmail syncs fine; however, Exchange will only sync when connected to WiFi. Even a manual sync will not download Exchange email.
I have installed all updates (he is on Android 6.0.1, security patch level March 1, 2016). I confirmed that "restrict background data" is NOT enabled for anything. Turned off battery optimization (Doze) for Exchange Services & Gmail. I've tried various sync settings for the Exchange account (Push, 15 min, 30 min, etc). No luck. Exchange email will not download while on cell service, but Gmail will. As soon as I have a WiFi connection, the Exchange email downloads.
Not sure what to try next; any ideas?

I removed my account from the Android app, but it seems to have retained the security policies. Is there a way I can reset the security policies now that the account isn't using the integrated e-mail client?

I am creating reports based off of our Exchange ActiveSync logs. One of the fields in the EAS logs is "Device Agent" which tells me the device type and what version of Android the device is on. An example string from this field is:
SAMSUNG-GT-N7000/100.20306
where the first part before the "/" is the device and the second part is the Android version.
I am sure the version number maps to the Android version since these strings are different than the EAS client strings. An example of and EAS client string is "Android-EAS/2.0" where the number is the version of the ActiveSync client. Devices with those strings report the Android version in another column.
Here are some additional examples of the Android version numbers: 100.202, 100.20303, 100.20304, 100.20305, 100.20306, 100.40003, 100.40004
I was able to leverage this resource for the iOS devices: http://www.onesimplescript.com/2012/06/reporting-on-apple-ios-activesync.html
What I can't figure out is a mapping of the Android versions from these strings to their "friendly" names (KitKat, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc). Are there any resources available that map these numeric OS versions to the OS name?

A user came to me with an intermittent issue with his old handset. I replaced the handset but when it came to set up his outlook account the app wouldn't sync contacts as the option to sync contacts was missing from the outlook app. Everything else worked but that. I checked in the accounts page in settings and the account isn't displayed there. I re-installed the application and updated the phone but to no avail. I then tried adding the account in the accounts screen, the account was added no problem but still the account isn't showing in on that page. I try to re-add for the 3rd time and this time an error message pops up telling me that the account has already been added to this device. I then tried to set up the old device as I know that it was working on there before I set up the new device. Again the same issue occurs.
Does anyone else have this issue with outlook on android or any other email application on android?
As a last resort I have set up exchange activesync using the default email application but I would like to have the user back on outlook as all the support material we have references Outlook Android.

When I woke up this morning I suddenly had 6 new contacts added to my contact book on my phone. All of them were emails, some of them I recognize from WAY back but I sure haven't had contact with them in a LONG time. I guess they were added in some kind of sync activity, but I'm pretty sure none of these addresses that were added, is featured in any of the accounts I'm currently using (gmail, yahoo) etc. I had contact with these people way before this
Why did this happen?
Is there any way to find out where a specific contact were synced from?

On Samsung Galaxy S10 Exchange ActiveSync (outlook365) account stops synchronizing after each Samsung OS update.
Our corporate IT policy requires a PIN to access the device when using the Android client.
I needed always to delete and recreate the ActiveSync account to make it sync again.
Today I have tried to just open the settings of Exchange server under setting/accounts in E-mail application and confirm it and it somehow started to sync again.
Any clue how to easily fix those problems and what is the cause?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and when I go into my settings then add an account and add a gmail account, it gives me an option to choose what I want to sync. I unchecked 'photos' and 'contacts' and everything else except for 'gmail', but it still auto sync'ed my photos and contacts (and my apps and app data, even though I told it not to). I then deleted the account and tried again but this time, I didn't check anything at all (not even gmail) and it did not sync anything, which is good. But I want to sync only my mail, so then I went into the settings for my account and checked only the 'sync gmail' box and it synced everything again (app, app data, contacts, photos). How do I make it stop syncing everything? I just want to sync my inbox.

In Android 7.0 Nougat on Samsung devices, you can go to **Settings -> Clouds and accounts -> Accounts -> Google** to see a list of all the Google sync options.
Currently,
1. **Sync Calendar** says "Tap to sync now" with "Last synced date" of when I factory wiped the device.
1. **Sync Contacts** is the same as Calendar.
1. **Sync Google Fit data** is the same as Calendar.
1. **Sync Google Play Books** says "Tap to sync now" and "Sync turned off".
1. **Sync Google Play Movies & TV** is the same as Play Books.
1. **Sync Google Play Music** says nothing under it.
1. **Sync People details** says "Tap to sync now" with "Last synced date" of today!
1. **Sync Play Games Cloud Save** is the same as Calendar.
There are **no** enable/disable toggle checkmarks next to any of the items.
In **Settings -> Clouds and accounts -> Backup and restore -> Back up my data** is turned off.
I want all syncing with Google to be turned completely off, and any synced data to be deleted.
The exceptions are for Books, Movies & TV, and Music, for which I would like to manually sync once in a while.
How can this be done?

How can I remove contacts from accounts I don't sync with anymore? Without being afraid of removing them from the "source" exchange account now or in the future?
**Background:**
When installing the email synchronization with Exchange, I thought it was a good idea to also sync the contacts.
Now the internal memory of my phone is stuffed with thousands of contacts I don't really need. It seems I cannot move them to the SD card, so I want them gone.
When I stop the synchronization (only contacts) with exchange, the contacts are not automatically removed.
I'm a bit afraid that if I remove them manually, and click or accidentally enable the sync, the contact will also be removed from my exchange contacts list, that is linked to my companies contacts list.
BTW: I know some Java, so if necessary I can develop an app to do this.

My phone uses Activesync, so it's possible for my office to reset my pin code and so I need an extra layer of protection for more intimate pictures.
She has an iPhone so I think she will send them over SMS, but I can ask her to do it a different way. What are my options?

On Office 365, my folder structure is this:
My Contacts [container, not a folder itself]
- LinkedIn
- Contacts
- Contacts2
- Skype for Business Contacts
-...
I want only contacts from my "Contacts" folder to sync to my phone, and not from the other folders.
Is there a way to achieve this?
I don't mind installing a sync app, but don't want to install the Outlook app.
I have seen a hacks using Categories to only show selected contacts in the Contacts app on the phone, but this has 2 problems:
1. I would have to add a Category to every new contact I make in my Contacts folder to get it to sync, which is very error-prone.
2. I think it still syncs all of the contacts from every folder, using phone space and sync bandwidth.
Any help is much appreciated.
