As of September 2022, Slack will stop supporting the app for Android OS versions earlier than 9 (Pie). I have an Asus Zenfone 4 Z01KD mobile, stuck at Android 8. I have read suspicious guides online on how to download software updates of dubious origin to flash the upgrade "manually", or on how to get developer options activated and make the ZUI update recognize there is an actual update of the OS available. The latter don't work for me and the former look messy or dangerous. Is it possible to safely upgrade a Zenfone 4 to OS later than 8? (There is no tag for #zenfone4, but only for #zenfone3 and #zenfone5).

When I use the native USB tethering function of my phone, it makes MTP stop working. I can't use both MTP and tether both at the same time. However, when I USB tether via ClockworkMod Tether , I can still use MTP even while tethering. What is the technical reason for this difference? If it's technically possible to tether and use MTP at the same time, why is that not typically enabled in the native functionality of the phone? I use OS X, so by MTP I mean Android File Transfer. But I think this works the same way on Windows and Linux too.

I am trying to remove the Facebook and Messenger apps from my Asus Zenphone Laser 2. Unfortunately, in both cases, I seem to be unable to find the option to fully delete them from the device. I have disabled them, but the app management screen now shows the following: How can I fully delete/uninstall them?

I have a hitherto unmodified ZenFone 2. Lately I've been constantly running low on space, and it's not my files -- it's that mysterious black hole: "system data". As soon as I delete more apps & my own data, it starts filling up the available space. I finally rooted my phone, and found the culprit: **/data/logs/modemcrash** It currently has about 260 .tar.gz files (plus another 78 files in the "mmgr2" subdirectory) from the last 4 weeks or so, taking up 7GB, so nearly 2GB a day. I downloaded a 600kB archive, and it showed a 101MB file, suggesting a compression of nearly 200:1, but I extracted it and it stopped after 16MB with an error. Examination suggests that most of the data is from core dumps. Sure I can delete them to temporarily recover the space, but... any ideas on how to prevent the problem from occurring? My phone went dead and a friend gave me his old Zenfone 2 Deluxe, which comes with the terrible ZenUI and a million asus apps that are a pain in the ass. I wanna throw it away and install a custom rom, something as clean as possible. When googling, however, I find a lot of custom roms for Zenfone 2 laser, and for Zenfone 2 Z00A. According to Google, Zenfone 2 Deluxe is ZE551ML, however in the settings it says the model number is Z00AD. I'm very confused about this. Of everything posted on xda's zenfone 2 forum , it's very hard for me to understand which roms I can install and which I can't\shouldn't. Please advise, how do I proceed?

I am running Lineage OS (14.1-20170324) on my Asus Zenfone 2 (Z00A). I know that System UI Tuner can be enabled by holding up settings cog for about 10 seconds. But it is not enabling on my device. System animations are enabled but the cog is not spinning. > Root is enabled on my device.

I went into regular recovery mode to wipe cache and do factory reset to flash clean Asus ROM from XDA. I first went to wipe cache and it felt like it was taking way too long, so I turned off the phone and tried to turn it back on, and now all I get is a dead Android. I found this thread on XDA to unbrick the phone but when I try the steps I am getting permission denied message while using fastboot. I cannot flash TWRP via fastboot either. It is not on their website, but I can't believe they have skipped making a ROM for this device. It looks like none of the official releases support this device. I really don't know why though.

I need to transfer data to the laptop but none of the USB ports work. As my pen drive is dual compatible, it can be connected to mobile. To transfer data from mobile to laptop I generally use airdroid app but this app is not showing data of external pen drive. Can anyone help in accessing the pen drive files(connected to mobile) from laptop? Thank you

I have a ASUS Zenfone2 Laser 500KL whose configuration are 8Gb Internal, 2gb RAM, QuadCore Processor and Android Lollipop 5.0. For some days, i am using the phone but i don't like the file transfer system from phone to PC by USB. **Some folders doesn't appear when i open it on Windows** but appears on phone when i access. It also appear when i connect SD card by Card Reader to the PC B but not by this file system. When i connect the phone to PC in MyComputer this appears. Here to my question, i want to convert Portable Media Player to USB Mass Storage Removable Device by disabling this PC Suite and showing Portable Device. Can anyone help me how to do so?

I have tried a first install of Lineageos on an Asus Zenfone 2 Z00A. I have now reformatted all data, done a factory reset and wiped everything but always getting error 7 in zip install. I have twrp-3.0.2-0-Z00A.img, lineage 14.1-20170512-nightly-Z00A-signed.zip and open_gapps-z86-7.1-mini-20170513.zip. How can I overcome this problem?

I'm using Asus 551 with lollipop. I have numerous apps installed. Recently, I started getting toast notification with the text **Sending...**. This usually occurs when I'm using Facebook, whatsapp and such apps. It seems fishy. I recently uninstalled es file explorer after a similar issue was reported by users. It was showing similar toast with some Chinese text. Is there a way I could find out what app is causing this? Here is a screen shot: I tried the dumpsys command, as suggested by @Firelord. Then used some of the apps, got the **Sending...** toast a couple of times, then again ran the dumpsys command, but there was no difference in the log. Here is how it looked before and after:

Asus Zenfone 2 (Z00AD, ZE551ML) I have downloaded the stock firmware from here. But how to flash it? This guide tells me to put it on an external SD card and boot into "update mode" by pressing Power + Volume Down, but that combination doesn't do anything on my phone. It looks like I can use something called Asus Flashtool, but it appearantly involves using a different type of format for the firmware, which I will need to download from a third party. Asus has provided me with the firmware. How to flash it?

I'm using Asus Zenfone 2 laser Android device. For a specific reason I did factory reset. After reset I tried to access my mobile. It asked me to use Google account which I used before in that device for sync. I did that too. But again and again i'm seeing "***Please sign in using one of the owner's account for this device***". I tried so many times using all my previous Gmail ids which ever used in my mobile. How to resolve this issue? I checked in Google and got results for some Bypass Technic which I don't want. I need the root cause and the proper solution. ***Note:*** Before resetting my mobile I changed the password of my Gmail id and I used the updated password. I'm not sure whether it would be the reason. If so how to fix this?

While opening camera in my asus zenfone2, it shows a black screen and suddenly exit from camera application (The device got authorized service from asus twice, and after second service, the problem arised. I bought and downloaded GTA: San Andreas on my phone. I had intended to pair my DualShock 4 to my phone, as seen here and as discussed here . However, while I can pair the controller, it doesn't do anything, either in-game, or on the home screen. The controller works, since I can pair it up to my laptop and play games on it, and it's got a full charge (for good measure, I used my phone's OTG and connected it wired; didn't work either). The phone being shown on the vids is the ZenFone 3, which is the more premium brother to my ZenFone 3 Max 5.5. Is there anything I can do to make the controller work? Why isn't it working in the first place?

I have an asus zenfone 2 laser and it has gone absolutely crazy. I have done a factory reset. The problem still exists. It basically freezes, start taking screenshots...etc. I was wondering if there is a way to troubleshoot an Android OS for software issues (or come to the conclusion that it is the phone itself that is not okay).
