My Device is Motorola Moto G 1st Gen. running Android Lollipop 5.0.2
From the last 2-3 months, my phone is not installing apps. It downloads the app and even shows installing but never completes. After showing "Installing " for some time, the notification will go. If I go back to Play Store, it says "Install" and not Installing. So I have to repeat the same procedure.
I have tried clearing Data and Cache of Play Store, Download Manager, Google Play Services. I have over 5 GB space available on phone.
I have tried the above solution many times but it doesn't works. The only thing I don't want to do is factory reset.
Update: After I updated to Android 5.1, apps started to install properly so I think it was a bug related to 5.0.2

Google Play Store download stops to a certain percentage on large programs

When I download large apps from the Google Play Store, it always pauses at a certain percentage, for example:
1. Angry Bird 2 (about 120 MB of download size), the download always stopped at 61%.
2. Need for Speed No Limits (About 787 MB of download size), the download always stopped at 97%.
When I say stop, basically the Download Manager would suddenly disappear and then the Download bar in Google Play Store would just be “stuck” at that percentage (data traffic speed also dropped from a few Mb/s to a few Kb/s before hitting 0). I have tried downloading via mobile data or Wi-Fi and both still results the same.
I thought it was because my phones were running out of storage space. However, my internal storage has 24.58 GB free and my SD card has 4.55 GB free, either of which is way larger than the installation size of the two games listed above. It is also weird that the downloader stopped at a higher percentage in the N4S game than the AB2 game since N4S has a much larger download size than AB2.
I have tried canceling the download and re-downloading and it stuck at the exact same percentage. I have also tried cleaning the cache (
/Cache/Download
and deleting everything in there) and even tried deleting the entire Google Play Store app and reinstalling it, and the exact same thing happened. I have also switched to different Wi-Fi networks and switched between Wi-Fi and Mobile data.
My Google Play Store is the highest version I can find on APK Mirror (version 7.9.52.Q-all[PR]156316931) and I have given permission to Storage and my Location. The phone is a Huawei P9 Plus (VIE-AL10) and is currently on Build Number B356 (Android 7.0 with Kernel version 4.1.18-gf6402d0).
Could you please help me?

Is there some way to save the next month's internet quota when a download from Google Play Store fails?
The only way now is to prevent Google Play Store from failing a download, but that may be impossible.
Why next month's quota? Because I was downloading several apps, each with about 3GB, and my internet provider throttled down my connection, so using the internet for any other than letting the Google Play Store download to complete became impossible, too slow.
Then, using NetGuard, I blocked Google Play Store to be able to use the internet for everything else. But then, all downloads failed, the partial files got deleted, and now resuming the app's install will redownload from the beginning, which is totally absurd.
So I thought: if we could throttle down the Google Play Store download manager or the connection to its site mirrors, like max 30KB/s (my max speed now is 250KB/s), we could prevent Google Play Store failure and so prevent messing the internet provider quota.
So, I want to know if and how we can do that? How to throttle down Play Store downloads?
The only other alternative would be to never download big apps directly from the Play Store, but use a coherent, smart, and decent download manager that can just resume later, and download from the app developer site or from some updated mirror.
I did the same actions, to start a download, block the app in NetGuard, wait for it to fail, retry using the manual install option, with Aurora Store, and the download resumed! Despite showing no hint that it would resume. And not all apps are available there.
But... the 2nd time it failed, I don't know the reason, the downloaded part was lost too. So just grab a download link somewhere else and use no store apps at all.

I've got a SuperNote A5X and I've installed some extra apps to make my experience better. I'd like to be able to download files (such as via a browser or cloud-storage app). None of these work on it. Some examples are:
* Most apps (Tor Browser, EInkBro, Midori Browser) just say "downloading" and do nothing
* Some (Proton Drive) fail with an error
"system could not find any application that could create a document"
I believe need to install some sort of download manager for these to work, but I can't seem to find any. I also tried to copy my phone's apk to the supernote, but it didn't work because of SDK incompatibility (Phone was ~30, SuperNote was 27).
*p.s. Please don't skip reading and then tell me to reset the device to get the factory app back, like in all the other similar posts. **There is no factory app.***

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue or a workaround outside manually merging the files?
App Info: 1DM : browser and video download version 16.1
Device info is as follows : Samsung SM-G988U1 using Android 13 Tiramisu. There is plenty of space available on the internal drive and SD card, so storage capacity is not an issue.

My phone randomly shows the Download Manager downloading "Google play". I usually cancel this download since it seems fishy to me, and that's what my question (asked below) is about. Since this sounds all too common and like many questions posted here, let me clarify what this is not:
- This is not a download within the Google Play store.
- All apps are up to date in my play store.
- My OS was recently updated to Oreo (Samsung Galaxy S8).
- All my Samsung apps are also up to date.
- As far as I can tell, I have set all updates to happen only on wifi, not on mobile data connections.
- The download is happening via Download Manager. Long-press etc shows me info about the default "download manager" app itself, not about what it is trying to download.
This reeks of malware to me, wherein some shady app might have just named itself "Google Play" so that I allow it to be downloaded and run it. A malware scan shows nothing (of course, I aborted the attempted download so that file was not scanned, but there seems to be no trojan trying to download more stuff) My questions are:
- Has anyone seen this issue? Is it a regular deal, so that I should just let the phone do what it wants?
- If this is "business as usual", how do I set it to happen on wifi and not on mobile data?
- If this seems suspicious, what steps could I take to further investigate / remove the problem?

I would like to know **what are the functions and differences of the Download Manager and the Downloads native apps of Android OS**?
For example, I have downloaded and set Firefox as my default browser, and in it's settings, I see the option to use external Download Manager; so I wonder, is this app dependent (i.e., subordinate) to the native Download Manager or Download app? Or is it's **own** downloading utility independent from native downloading apps?

Are there logs or some way to see the full URL? Both of these apps give me only the domain :(

Is there some other android permission, or ADM setting that I'm missing?
EDIT : I've also checked for auto intercept links, I've enabled it. Still not working.

However - whenever I try to open a PDF with one of these, or even with a file manipulation app, from a browser - I either get some error message (e.g. lack of permissions which I can't change, or some blurb in Chinese) - or just an empty screen.
Here are two screenshots, of the errors with two apps, when I try to open a file via my (Opera) browser Downloads screen. The file I try to open is
**With "Document Viewer"**:
What might cause this problem, and how can I circumvent or fix it?
PS - I don't get this for other file types (at least, not that I've noticed).
desktop.pdf
; when pressing it, I'm presented with an app selection dialog, and whichever app I choose, it doesn't work.

I have an old Alcatel Pixi 4 with Android 6.0 from which I'd like to back up my files. I've already copied all files from the internal storage except those inside the "Downloads" folder, which actually appears to be an *app* rather than a folder...and it's an utter mess: One can only open downloaded files, but there are absolutely no options to copy, move, rename or even delete anything, so this toxic app basically acts as a trap accumulating any file that has ever been downloaded while completely shutting the owner out.
How can I extract my downloaded files?
Note: The device is not rooted, but I have it hooked up with ADB.

I have nexus 5 (android 4.4.2, TeamWin Recovery Project, root). Recently, problem with downloading files from play market and websites appeared.
I see infinite downloading in the play market. I see infinite work of the donwload manager process in the action bar, when I download some stuff from website (for example, when I try to download something from my HTTP local file server).
Sometimes I can solve my problem to restart smartphone, to clear data/cache play market app and download manager procces. But the problem occurs again.
Also I tried to boot into recovery, clear cache, fix permissions, and reboot. These actions have fixed my problem, but the problem appeared again.

My Razr (Stock ROM 4.0) is very very hot. After some research I found
com.android.providers.downloads
is responsible, since it's using about 60% of CPU.
I have tried killing it, and it respawns, however what I found to work (for two hours) is clearing the cache and data of the process, and killing it, however something is triggering again.
P.S. I'm not downloading anything, and all my apps are updated (so Play Store is not trying to download updates).
If I freeze this process, the Gmail app crashes.

Play Store downloads successfully first chosen app, but it get stuck on downloading the second one. There is no error message. Only activity I see is notification of content waiting to be downloaded. Solution is to reboot the phone.
Here is a screenshot that shows kind of notification I am writing about, since I am unable to provide an actual one. No error messages, just a continuous progress bar:
I tried clearing cache, then all data and then data in Google Play Services app, but it didn't help. The phone is Oukitel U11 Plus, using Android 8.
I have visited wiki page of google-play-store tag and didn't found any reasonable advice in regard of this situation.
----------
On the side note, one other frustrating thing is happening, too. When searching in Chrome it redirects to local .rs domain, but it then prints out

err_tunnel_connection_failed
. I got around it buy using *no redirect* link to force it to go main .com domain.

I thoroughly comprehend **what** a user-agent string is, and **how** to spoof/parse them. What I can't seem to find in the endless sea of search results that all speak about the same two aforementioned points is: **which** should I use? For my use-case, it'd be specific to using [Advanced Download Manager & Torrent downloader (ADM)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dv.adm) on an Android device for downloading videos. Which — if any — would be optimal in terms of file accessibility, speed, stability, etc? Which should be avoided in the practical sense? I understand this is likely dependent upon the web developer's end, but in a more general sense I'm wondering if the UA has any inherent impact to these factors, if all else remains the same?
EDIT: to clarify, from my observations the typical use cases seem qualitative — whether a particular file is served or not, i.e.,
true|false
. I'm wanting to confirm there are no other functional impacts from the user's standpoint aside from whether a file is made available or not (disregarding build variants based on UA, so assuming for example's sake that they are identical).
