I set up my iPhone SE version 2 to make a time-lapse video until the battery ran out. The resulting video is 24 seconds long. I'd like to know how much real time this corresponds to. I'm guessing it's around three hours. The calculator at Hustl claims to perform this computation, but the only 24-second time-lapse I can create corresponds to only 12 minutes of real time, which I know is far too little. In the Photos app, the Information pane for the time-lapse video shows the timestamp for when the video was started. Do the individual frames of time-lapse videos have timestamp metadata or something so that I could look at the timestamp for the last frame? Or is there some other way to determine how much real time went by during the creation of the time-lapse video?

Keeping date of original recording in converted video file
I have some video files that came from a digital video camera. I have some video files that came from a digital video camera. If I examine the file using exiftool, I see an output that includes:
SB-iMac(~/Movies/trial) % exiftool f1.dv
ExifTool Version Number : 12.40
File Name : f1.dv
Directory : .

File Modification Date/Time : 2024:05:19 12:26:08-04:00

Date/Time Original : 2009:01:18 11:28:30
After converting with Handbrake and selecting "passthrough common metadata", exiftool reveals:
SB-iMac(~/Movies/trial) % exiftool f1.m4v
ExifTool Version Number : 12.40
File Name : f1.m4v
Directory : .

File Modification Date/Time : 2024:05:19 12:26:08-04:00
File Access Date/Time : 2024:05:19 12:26:08-04:00
The Date/Time Original field does not appear in this listing of metadata for the converted file. If I load both files into FinalCutPro, the original file appears as 'its own event' dated 'Jan 18, 2009' and the converted file as an event for 'May 19, 2024'. Within FCP, I cannot find that the revealed metadata for the original file includes the date in 2009. I tried to create my own view of metadata in FCP and selected the 'Date Time Original'. However, even that option does not reveal the 2009 date.) Is there a way of keeping the earlier date in the file conversion process?

Having to select the area for recording with Quicktime or other tools is less elegant because it adds potentially unwanted screen around the target window. Shift-Command-5 Choices None of the choices from Shift-Command-5 (shown in the image) are what I am looking for. I thought there might be an easter egg that is Shift-Command-4 but for screen capture video.

I'd like to capture video calls on my MacBook Pro, while I have my Bluetooth Earbuds connected. I use Zoom, Google Meet and Skype on different calls, so would like to use osX's native screen video capture capabilities. I can't seem to configure it in a way that captures both the video call audio and my microphone. Note I set settings/audio/input to the laptop's mic rather than the earhbuds' because it works better. Searching online, it seems I should use either **Aggregate Device** or **Multi-Output Device** or both , but I'm not sure how to configure them correctly, especially as I can't install 3rd party drivers, as demonstrated in the video, because I'm using a work computer. How do I perform this magic?

Even the final tap on Stop button is recorded. Important: there are NO beeps when I touch the screen. This is not acoustic recording of environmental sounds. Is it a feature that I can deactivate or is it a defect? It looks like I can only view recently taken photos. Is there an Apple Watch where this works? Mine is old, a series 3 running watchOS 8.7 and I consider buying new hardware a fix if newer watches allow this. Is it possible to watch a recently recorded, 30 second video taken from iPhone remotely by apple watch from the camera remote app? If someone could check, open the Camera app on iphone, click "video". Then open the Camera Remote app on your watch, and start recording the video. Stop recording after 30 seconds. Click the the thumbnail in the bottom left. Does anyone have a solution to allow these videos to play?

Default picture and video capture shortcuts are logical:
enter image description here
Although it isn't among the default shortcuts, it follows that video capture of a selected area could use the following: command + shift + control + 5 ### Question How can command + shift + control + 5 be made to: 1. allow the user to drag the cursor to select a portion of the screen (exactly like for picture capture of selected area), 2. once the mouse button is released from selecting the portion of the screen, start video capture of that selected area ? ### Note The difference with command + shift + 5 (i.e. without control), is that it will bring up a menu for a video capture but the user still has to ensure 'Record Selected Portion' is selected, and use a fiddlier interface to select the portion of the screen compared to picture capture.

Running macOS 10.12 with a security app called EvoCam that records ".mov" MP4 files. It records in one hour segments using the built-in iSight camera and microphone. In one hour long segment the audio cut out. And then in the subsequent videos, there is no audio at all. When I open them in QuickTime, it does not mention there being an audio track. I also tried opening them in VLC with no luck. I am not sure what happened as there was no error message and the microphone is working. Quitting the app and restarting it caused it to start recording audio again. Is there any chance the audio is in the file but corrupted and might be salvageable? I have found some services that do video repair and I even opened the video file in one such service's app. It's an app called Treasured. However, that service's app didn't say it found audio, just H264 video. This is an older Mac set up for security purposes, and the audio is very important if it can be recovered--would be willing to pay for a service or app that could recover it, but I'm not even sure if it's possible that it's there. This did happen once before and the same thing (quitting and reopening the app) worked, but the audio wasn't important in that instance.

Therefore I'll need a few converters in order to be able to import to my Macbook Pro. I'm wondering what adapters will work. I understand that worst case I'll need a Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter and then a Thunderbolt to USB C adapter. I'm wondering if there might be cheaper option... Would I be able to use [an adapter like this](https://amazon.com/Displayport-KEEZING-Thunderbolt-displayport-Compatible/dp/B07X2BZSS7/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=thunderbolt+to+usb+c&qid=1589041114&sr=8-6) which is a **Mini DisplayPort to USB C** instead of the [$50 Apple Thunderbolt to USB C](https://amazon.com/Apple-Thunderbolt-USB-C-Adapter/dp/B01MQ26QIY) . I know that Mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 1 inputs are the same shape, but will an adapter like I linked above be able to handle the transfer of video from my camcorder to laptop?
