About how long will my touchscreen last before it starts to lose sensitivity?
I've read on various posts on the net that touchscreens lose sensitivity over time, but I have not found any detailed information about why and how I can prevent this. Does anybody know why and how this happens, and how long it takes?

I have bought a used Motorola Defy (MB525), rooted, running CyanogenMod 9 (ICS 4.0.4).
It is locked to work with only a specific carrier. I bought an unlock code, and unaware to this the previous owner got an unlock code from the carrier. Both are the same, so I suppose the code is correct.
When I insert a GSM SIM card from another carrier and turn on the phone, I get a message that roughly translates to "insert SIM network unlock PIN" (see image below).
When I insert the unlock code, it blinks a message VERY fast, I can't even read it, then it says "failed on requesting network unlock", or something like that.
I have performed this more than 3 times, does it mean my phone is locked forever?
I have also been told to remove CM9 and reinstall the stock ROM in order for the unlock to work, but (1) I have no idea if this would *actually* help, and (2) I have never changed a ROM before and, althouh I used CM9 to create a nandroid backup, I have no idea how to reinstall CM9 and then restore the backup.

Motorola Defy+: Black Screen and no BootLoader. How to discover what firmware version my device supports?

I have a Motorola Defy+ (MB526) and I'm trying to use RSD Lite to reflash the firmware.
I'm trying with the Retail Version from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordanplus/list.php .
The cellphone does nothing, only black screen. When I insert the usb cable and open RSD Lite, they recognizes and all the process to send the flash is done, the cell phone is booted automatically but I can't turn it on. When flashing, the cellphone screen show the message that the SW is being updated. The process seems to be done right, but at the end I can't start the operational system.
After finishing the process successfully, I can't turn it on. It's like nothing got flashed. Even the recovery mode was erased.
I don't know if I need some kind of boot loader (like some linux does) or other sbf file. Anyone knows if do I need to flash more files?
**Edited**
According here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982 It seems I downgraded the version, that's why I'm getting a black screen.
How do I know what is the version I need to use?
Can I try Chinese version? It seems that is the newer, but I'm afraid if I would face no English language option to set after installing it.

Is it possible to deactivate Motoblur sync and undesirable services on Motorola Defy like:
-
FeedRecieverService
- NewsRecieverService
- WeatherService
(all lanched by app.
)
Because I really don't care about Weather, news, feed, and must of all, I HATE this Motoblur account who "backup" my personal data without any possibility to limit him : It's just here, in the top of the synced accounts, with a little lock to the left...
If it's possible to do that without rooting the device or install a custom rom, it's for the best: I'm looking for the less intrusive method.
Thanks by advance for your help.

key.
In almost all programs there will be a return key instead. It appears to only be in the stock messaging application (though it's where I spend most of my time!).
This is extremely annoying, as I never use the built in smileys (I prefer them without the nose, e.g. :)
). Is it possible to remove that key and make the backspace key bigger or something similar?
My phone is a rooted Motorola Defy with a stock ROM.

After the backup was created I saw this output:
ClockwordMod Recovery v2.5.1.8
SD Card space free: 1296MB
Backing up system...
Backing up data...
Backing up .android_secure
Backing up cache
No sd-ext found. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
Generating md5 sum...
Backup complete!
I'm not sure, but I believe this means that the external sd-card partition wasn't backuped.
Will this be a real problem, if I want to backup my phone? And how shall I solve it, if it's a problem?

I am playing around with my brand new Motorola Defy and trying to find a way to manage my contacts.
Of course it synced every contact in my Google account... I want to hide some of them, you know, those people you don't contact often but whose coordinates you want to keep in case you ever need to. I haven't had any luck so far.
I have 3 apps on my phone that deal with contacts :
* one called Contacts that is just for managing contacts (no tabs like dial or favorites) -- you can call someone after selecting them, then selecting the phone number, then call -- in there I can select groups I want to hide but too many clicks to call someone
* the dialer (my phone is in French so it's called "Appeler" = Call) with tabs : call, recent, contacts, favorites -- works as I'd want to but display all contacts with a phone number, and I haven't find a way to hide some groups (and it does display "visibility: hidden" when you select the contact)
* Go contacts, that I installed in hope it would be everything I wanted, but I can't hide groups, as when I try remove a group from the app it deletes it from Google
I don't know if the 2 apps that came bundled with my phone (contacts and dialer) are stock Android or Motorola. BTW, I skipped the configuration of Motoblur so no Motoblur account or anything like that. And it's running Froyo (already installed when I got it).
Does anyone have a solution for me ?

I have a weird problem with my android phone: for some reason, I'm getting a 'Low phone memory' error message, and before getting the message the phone was slow and unresponsive.
I have 2 GB internal storage; in the app manager, it says 1.2Gb used, 27Mb free. Where did the rest of the space go? I noticed this slowdown after installing an app (QR droid) from that Play Market (or whatever name it has now). When I first saw the error message, I had like 100 mb free in the app manager, and each time I reopened it the space was decreasing.
The phone is a Motorola Defy, rooted and using Miui, android version is Gingerbread.
So how can I fix this issue?

I have been trying to customize my current ROM in my Defy which runs 2.2 froyo currently as stock.
I'm confused which how I can customize my ROM, such that my stock ROM is backed up and if I don't like my new ROM I can restore the backup.
Another question is how can I install my new ROM?
I found couple of videos on Youtube that says installing ROM via 2ndinit after Rooting and then go recovery menu wipe cache, dalvik, etc and then install from SD card. Is this a valid procedure?
Refer to [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmy4Qmpep9A) .
Is this a valid way of installing?

Motorola Defy + Keeps Rebooting
I bought another Defy + for my daughter. I also have one which is fine. Hers keeps shutting down and rebooting, especially when it's away from the WiFi. It also has the latest system update. We tried switching batteries, but hers kept rebooting so it's not a battery issue. Any help out there?

**My screen goes off as soon I dial or receive a call. After that I am unable to end the call as it never wakes up. Pressing the power button has no effect.**.
The problem is not just related to ending the calls. I am unable to do anything on my phone as it never wakes up. Then I have to either pull off the battery and restart the phone or plug in the charger to wake it up. It never happened on stock ROM so no hardware problem. I checked the solution for this problem and it was "It seems to be the screen protector is at fault. CM7.1 doesn't play nice with it. I just cut a hole where the proximity sensor is and it basically fixed it. " But IMHO if the proximity sensor does not work properly with cyanogenMod then why does the power button also stop responding.
But if they are related then can you guys please tell me with an image where the proximity sensor is located on a Defy? So that I may try the other solution (cutting the screen protector).

Track republic wireless texts over wifi
My son has a republic phone and I'm trying to find a way to monitor his texts without modifying anything on his phone because he's fairly tech savvy so he'd be able to remove it. I was thinking about a way to track the texts when they go over wifi. is there a possible way to do that?

Device: Motorola Defy (MB525), running Android ICS (4.0.4), CyanogenMod 9-20121116-NIGHTLY-jordan
Issue: Whenever I'm listening to songs on any song app, If I press either volume up or down keys when the screen is on, it works fine. However, if the screen is turned off and I press volume keys, it either returns to the beginning of the song (on vol down) or skips to the next song (on vol up).
Apps affected: This behaviour is verified on Google Play Music, Doods Music Streamer, and pretty much any app that has support for skipping songs while the screen is locked.

I successfully installed CyanogenMod 7.2 on my Motorola Defy MB525 using the instructions from here .
After a while, I wanted to install gapps, so I installed it from bootmenu. After this, it was always booting to boot menu and I didn't know how to make it boot into the system, so I changed the "Boot" option default to something like "Normal", I think.
Now when starting the phone, all I see is the Google logo which stays there indefinitely.
I can still boot to bootmenu and tried a number of times to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and re-install the CyanogenMod 7.2 zip, but it still can't get out of the infinite loop.
Any ideas?

I have installed CynogenMod7 (Jordan) on my Motorola Defy using ClockworkMod Recovery.
The phone boots up, first with a screen saying "Google" and then an animation of the Android mascot skateboarding into a cyan circle with "Cyanogen7(mod)" appearing at the bottom.
The phone then goes into a loop of this animation - the mascot skateboards in, the circle and name appears - repeat.
I have been unable to enter "fastboot" mode (by pressing power button along with volume up+down keys). I did do a back-up of my previous ROM onto my SDCard.
What should I do to fix this?
