My Sony Xperia S has an Extended Standby Mode which states that WiFi and mobile data are disabled after a time when the screen is off.
However, sometimes this stops working and the battery starts falling quickly, and BetterBatteryStats shows that WiFi was on 100% of the time for the last 22 hours. Usually after I reboot the phone it starts behaving normally.
This is the explanation text for the Extended Standby Mode:
And I know for sure that I don't have any downloads or uploads running.
What is happening here? How do I make sure that Extended Standby Mode really works?

I have a buggy app installed in my phone, which sometimes creates permanent download progress notification with animated icon but **fails to remove it from notification bar** by its own.
I tried to remove the notification manually (swipe it off) but it is sticky and can't be removed. I tried "clear" option in notification bar, but again no success and it is still there! I even stopped that app which created the notification, but no change.
The only option that I have to remove such sticky and buggy notifications is to restart the device, which is very unpleasant.
**Which app, hack, command, gesture, etc... I can use to remove that sticky notification?**
*My device is **
Sony Xperia S

Phone asking "SIM network unlock PIN" after flashing new Stock ROM on Xperia S
I have Xperia S (LT26i). Earlier it had 6.2.B.0.211 installed. I flashed it with "XperiaS_LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_1257-6919.ftf", flashing was successful, but after I started my phone I saw this message "SIM network unlock PIN". What should I do now? (Click the image to enlarge it)

My phone used to connect to PCs fine, but today when I tried connecting to my laptop it wouldn't recognize it. This happens on Windows and on Ubuntu, with the original USB cable, and with a generic one. The same cables and computers used to work fine with my phone.
Also, the phone does not give any notification that a PC has been connected, i.e. the phone itself doesn't recognize that a PC has been connected. It starts charging, though.
I tried rebooting Android, I also tried enabling USB debugging, but none of it helped.

I have an Xperia S running 4.0.4. I often need to switch to a proxy for accessing a test server. I can do this fine by modifying my Wifi connection, selecting to show advanced options and then entering the proxy information manually.
The problem is that if I then need to disable the proxy, ICS 'forgets' the settings so I have to enter them manually each time. I need the proxy to work with Adobe Edge Inspect and so browser-specific proxy options are not the answer.
Is there a reputable third-party app which will let me switch between proxies for the current network connection?

Why does "Xperia Keyboard" use up mobile traffic?
I checked Settings->Data Usage, and an app called "Xperia Keyboard" has used up 513 KB of mobile traffic. Why would the keyboard app need to use 513 KB of mobile data? It's a keyboard app, why does it need an internet connection at all?

I was looking through the Google Play Store after I rooted my Sony Xperia S The other day, and came upon the app "Beats Audio Installation" & Downloaded it and then when i opened the app and finished the setup, it started Rebooting and you cant go to your regular screen, etc. You can only see the boot loader (Green animated android logo) and Sony Logo in the beginning and it keeps rebooting. Please Help!
Booting into safe mode using vol- when switched on doesn't work it still reboots as soon as it goes on. Any one had an issue regardless "Beats Audio Installation" please let me know how you fixed it.

Is there currently an easy way to root Sony Xperia S with stock ICS 4.0.4 ROM?
I'm looking for an easy way, which doesn't need Unlocking bootloader or flashing Roms, just like root solution for SE 2011 devices (one click). It's because I currently use my Xperia S for development purposes and can't afford bricking it! please tell me if there is a solution. Thanks!

Is it possible to install unmodified, unadulterated and pure Android on a Sony Xperia S?
I'm willing to buy a Sony Xperia S, but in my opinion, the modifications Sony made to Android is just horrible. So, is it possible to install the last version of Android unmodified? And, if so, how do I do that?

I have **Sony Xperia S** with
ICS 4.0.4
stock rom **(rooted)**, I need to have a **VPN account** set in my phone, but when I add a VPN account, the phone asks me to set either a pattern or password for lock screen, which I don't want.
Is there an app or hack **to disable lock screen** or at least, have just simple "slide to unclock"
instead of pattern or password?
