Is there any hope to build a proper new lineageos for z3c?

I'm observing a strange behaviour on my phone out of the blue. Yesterday, the left side of my screen stopped working properly. I started having a hard time clicking anything next to the left edge, typing the keyboard or pressing buttons on the left.
I enabled *Developer Options > Input > Show touches*, and I was able to observe that when I try to tap the left side of the screen, the screen appears to detect two taps on opposing sides of a column, as if the whole column of pixels were damaged. The phone hasn't suffered any hits or gotten wet. This is just out of nowhere.
" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy">
I've uploaded a video of this to make it clearer here .
This is an Xperia Z3, D6603, running Android 5.1.1.
Has anyone encountered something like this? I've tried restarting the phone to no avail.

How do you upgrade the [Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803)](https://support.sonymobile.com/ca-en/xperiaz3compact/supportDocumentation/) to Android 8.1?
There are a number of web pages that attempt to answer this question, but none of them provide every step along the way. These include:
* https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/z3-compact-marshmallow-to-oreo-step-step-t3720857
* https://www.getdroidtips.com/omnirom-xperia-z3-compact-8-1-oreo/

* https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/5vt6cs/flashing_marshmallow_concept_rom_on_a_sony_xperia/
They all skip steps or are missing key pieces of information that someone who is unfamiliar with the process would prevent from completing. A comprehensive, step-by-step guide for a complete novice would be helpful.

I followed the very many tutorials (pick any on google) saying to flash (in fastboot) the file bootZ3monxtest01.img
fastboot flash boot bootZ3monxtest01.img
Now I have a bootloop around the sony logo.
No system, only recovery (TWRP) available
I can also reflash the whole system through Sony's Flashtool, but it kills the point, as a custom working recovery is required for later rooting
Obs. 1:
Needless to say that the "usual" is to flash recovery onto recovery partition. I tried that. Nothing happened
Obs. 2:
KingRoot rooting method worked, but I fail miserably to replace it by SuperSU
Obs. 3:
It's my third attempt

Is my Xperia Z3 hopelessly locked or there's still second chance? (Forgot pattern, USB debugging on but not OEM unlock so can't flash)

So basically I have a Stock Sony Xperia Z3 Docomo variant (if I recall correctly it was D6653) that I used all the way from 2017, until I had to store it on my desk cabinet for two years because the screen was broken (although before the screen went completely messed up, I managed to enable USB debugging in order to mirror the screen on my laptop with scrcpy so I can use it). Until finally I got a chance to replace the screen earlier this weekend
Problem is, I already forgot the pattern to unlock it. Not even my brother (who used it sometimes to game back then) remember the pattern. Worse part is some of the SIM card, even when it does have data plan (I just simply put the SIM from my other phone), the phone is just going to show as full bar Roaming (R) and no internet at all so this phone completely have no network (although I do also have suspicion that data connection is probably disabled), and obviously that means I can't use google account to unlock it
Wanted to use TWRP or Aroma File Manager to delete the pattern lock file, but then I realized I have to flash recovery first, and even if I do now understand how to do it on Z3 model because I already read various guide from various forum since Saturday, the problem is that OEM unlock isn't even enabled simply because at the time it was still a bit functional, I don't see it as something I need, as I don't root or flash a custom ROM on any phone that I use. And as additional note, as time goes on obviously all of the laptop at home had gone many clean reinstall, which means no ADB key backup, and I can't authorize because pattern lock
Is there hope left, or this phone is completely locked?
(TLDR: Phone locked because I forgot lock pattern, no Internet, data stuck at R, no connection so I can't recover with google account, USB Debugging on but not OEM unlock)

I hope you are well. I have recently switched from a Google Nexus 5 to a Sony Xperia Z3+. However, I'm slightly annoyed at all of the default apps that Sony bundle with it. I have already replaced the Xperia keyboard with the one from Google, and that was fairly easy. I am now trying to replace the default dialer with the awesome Google dialer that I am used to.
I managed to find online an APK for the Google dialer (all verified as genuine) and installed it to my phone. However, I cannot find the option to select it as the default dialer.
I went to Settings → Apps → All → Google Dialer.
The 'Launch by default' option is greyed out. Does anyone know how to get this working as I really love being able to search for a number by typing the name of a company and don't like the Sony dialer?

# Background
Many people have experienced a bug whereby the Sony Xperia Z3C (compact) no longer has functional home and back buttons. Specifically, the issue involves the buttons highlighted by the red rectangular box in the following image:
# Problem
The problem may be caused by a number of reasons, from hardware issues to software upgrades. A solution is not easily found. As these buttons are essential for using the phone, when they are broken the phone is far less usable.
# Workaround
A quick workaround is to rotate the phone "upside down" so that the buttons flip to the "top" of the screen.
# Question
How do you fix this issue permanently?

My xperia touchscreen got physically broken. I got it to a "tech service" so they promised to use an original piece and change the old damaged display with a new display.
After they changed (many other hardware things like camera button and gsm antenna where damaged), the touchscreen aparently works ok, but, I noticed that, until I tap closer to the bottom of the screen, my taps get misplaced. I can verify it with the developer options.
I tried changing the resolution, density and overscan via adb shell with multiple values, but the effect is almost the same, it seems the installed display doesn't have the right behavior.
I've tried like 20+ touchscreen calibrator applications (like 3 different languages) to solve this problem, and still persists.
I restored to factory, installed custom external ROMs, even installed ISP custom ROMs and nothing worked.
I've run the test for the touchscreen and I can use all the screen without a lose.
Hope someone can lead me to a possible solution, maybe a way I can play with those 3 values so I can "emulate" the correct position of my taps. Ideally, a way to "not enlarge my taps" while I get closer to the botttom of the screen.

I am running Android 6 Marshmallow on Sony Xperia z3.
I use my memory card second partition to link most of my apps and increase my space. (app2 SD / link2sd app)
some of my folders I link manually using a folder mount program. from internal memory to memory card first or main partition. for purpose of my testing I unmounted or delink all tgese linked folders.
so my internal memory shows as just 1.2 gig free from some 12 gig internal memory. matter of fact currently space occupied shows only has 4.5 gig . using any File Explorer. I am using this file explorer in root mode which means I am able to see all invisible or hidden folders..
in spite of that I am not able to account for the missing 4 + GB or space what is occupying this... there is some process That seems to be creating a totally invisible file which even I cannot see as root..
how to identify this kind of files and go ahead and delete them. if only 1.2 GB is free it means around 10 GB is occupied but in the attached picture only 4.8 GB are occupied. how do you account for the discrepancy ?

I used TWRP to make a backup ( with the default options ) to make a backup to my external SDCard.
Then I used TWRP to perform a default factory reset
I did not manually touch anything else. I booted my android to check if I got a factory reset but I did not wipe anything else or install anything.
If I now boot into recovery I see "Philz Touch 6
Now I am confused, normally at this point I saw the TWRP GUI ?
Is TWRP still on my phone
Why is Philz Touch there now ?
PS: This was the first time I used the key combination to boot into recovery.
Before the factory reset I used the app "quick boot" to boot into recovery.
But I assume both methods ( app and physical buttons ) have the same results.
So my Question is where is TWRP after I performed a TWRP Factory Reset ?

I'm experiencing problems with my 2 yo Sony Xperia Z3. Today i've changed the SIM card from polish T-Mobile to Orange (I've been using Orange for alot of time, even this particular SIM, and 1 month ago have unlocked the network to use T-mobile) and now it seems like none of the cards would work.
After turning the mobile on there's no SIM pin typebox and the network stays at NO SIGNAL (grey bars with an X on them)
What I've tried:
- rebooting (changes nothing at all),
- different SIM card (still this same happens),
- turning plane mode on (would make the signal bar disappear totally after trying to turn it off)
Any clues?

I'm using **Sony Xperia Z3 compact** running Lollipop 5.1.1.
My proximity sensor is really faulty (Works only when I press hard on the top left corner of the phone).
I'm sure it's the proximity sensor because I used test apps and I can see it's detecting proximity all the time (unless I press hard on the corner).
Obviously, my biggest problem with that is that my screen goes dark when I make a call (Because the proximity sensor think the phone is near my ear). Trying to use the power button to turn on the screen didn't work so I set the power button to hangup calls (Otherwise I had to wait for the other side to hang up!).
I've seen many (many!) posts about this issue and tried all the apps who claimed to turn off the proximity sensor and non worked (including using the service setting at
*#*#7378423#*#*
) :
- KeepScreen
- Screen On Call
- Screenbl - Screen On/Off Sensor
- Smart Screen On Off
- Disable Proximity Sensor
- Proximity Fix
- Proximity Screen Off Lite
- On Call Proximity
I gave them all admin permissions and whatever they asked, but they all failed... The proximity sensor is just too strong for them I guess...
My only hope is to find an actual dialer app that has an option to ignore the proximity sensor (Used to be a popular option in the past). The Xperia Z3 compact default dialer does not have this option, nor the following dialers I've tried (At least I couldn't find that option):
- Turedialer
- DW Contacts & Phone & Dialer
- Dialapp: KitKat Dialer
- Reactiv Phone Dialer
- Contacts+
- KK Phone (KK Dialer, Lollipop)
- Ready Contacts + Dialer
- pixelPhone Pro
The only app I've found to have this option and it actually worked really well was: **Viber**, but unfortunately Viber cannot be used as a regular dialer but only as viber-to-viber dialer or viber-out dialer (like Skype credit).
So please, if you know of a dialer which you're sure has the option to ignore proximity sensor (or: *'keep screen on during call'* as it sometimes called), please share it with. Any other original ideas will be welcomed as well.

Does anyone know if there is a working root for the Sony Xperia Z3 D6616 (T-Mobile)? I just got upgraded to 5.0.2 but the battery life is awful now.
I know the biggest hurdle is that T-Mobile has locked the bootloader. I have tried giefroot, towelroot, and some other solution that involved sideloading the adb drivers but I can't seem to get anything to work. In addition, I would need to back up the DRM keys so I dont break any of the Sony apps I want to keep (camera apps).
