_Disclaimer: I don't own an android mobile, but would definitely get one if the below were possible._
On my mac, I can use software like [CamTwist](http://camtwiststudio.com) and [SoundSiphon](http://staticz.com/soundsiphon/) to create 'fake' webcam and microphone inputs.
CamTwist lets me pipe custom content (such as images or video) to that webcamera input, and SoundSiphon makes it easy to have system audio interpreted as microphone input.
---
__Q. Is it possible to achieve something similar to the above, but on any Android handheld?__
E.g. I'd like to be able to use a native Android app (such as Skype or Periscope) and pipe custom video to it (rather than using the in-built camera), whilst simultaneously broadcasting a custom audio file (rather than the in-built microphone)
Thanks!

Accessibility: controlling Android and typing via eyes

I have seen a video where a person with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) could type on a screen using their eyes (the software used eye tracking software).
But there are also many disabled people who are partially paralyzed or have handicaps where their limbs give away to spasms or have stiff or impaired parts (but can use their eyes).
Wouldn't it be nice, if, all of these, could have some arm attached to their wheelchair or bed or chair or table, with Android on it, and could use their eyes to open up YouTube and key in some search videos, scroll, and watch YouTube or other media?
Why doesn't Android offer this accessibility feature?
Thanks.

Many reports in the tech press said that Android 14 would include an option to use Android phones as a webcam when connected to another device over USB.
Here it is mentioned on the official Android 14 website
Upon installing Android 14 on my Pixel 6, I don't see this option. It's supposed to come up on the USB menu when you plug in the phone.
I contacted Google Support as a Google One user, but they were useless as usual - hadn't even heard of the feature.
Has anyone gotten this to work?

I connected an external webcam to my Android phone, and it works well with apps like "USB Camera." However, I'm having trouble finding a video call app that supports external webcams.
I noticed that bjoster had a similar issue in a thread about 5 years ago, but since it's been a while, I decided to create a new thread. You can check out the previous discussion here: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/207672/how-to-use-external-otg-webcam-for-video-calls-conference-talks
Has anyone managed to get it to work? If so, which app did you use?
I've already tried the following apps without success:
Teams
Skype
WhatsApp
Messenger
Google Meet
Zoom
I also attempted Webex, but it seems that only the old "Webex Meet" (or Meeting) app supports an external webcam. Unfortunately, I can't create a new meeting in the old app since I'm on the "new" Webex plan. Additionally, I can only get it to work using my webcam at work, not the one at home that I would prefer to use. The new Webex app lacks the external webcam feature.
Another potential solution could be using an app like "USB Camera" and sharing my phone screen in a video calling app. However, it's a bit complicated, unreliable, and, most importantly, there's a noticeable lag.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need to use DroidCam in my phone and PC, it's an app that lets you use your phone cam as a webcam in your PC. Other programs don't work. Since my internet connection is really slow I have to use it via USB. Since my phone screen is mostly not responsive I have installed a pointer type overlay that "draw over other apps".
Because I have that app running, when I try to run DroidCam, it gives me the error message: "Because an app is obscuring a permissions request, Settings cannot verify your response".
But I can't disable my overlay, my mouse pointer, because then I wouldn't be able to use my phone or run that app.
Anyone comes up with a solution?

I know some apps could work (e.g. DroidCam or WO WebCam) but they require extra clients installed on a Windows / Linux computer.
Is there any way that I can add an extra option to the USB connection settings that will allow the tablet to be used as a webcam instead of a media device?
Please note I am not asking for apps that can read videos from OTG USB webcams. It's the reverse, making Android output a video feed to a separate computer via USB.

I have upcoming exams which shall be remotely monitored through webcam. Now the thing is that I do not have an actual webcam and I have decided to use my android phone as a webcam via iVCam (using USB, I do not have Wifi Adapter in my PC).
Now the thing is that, I use internet via USB tethering through the same phone. The exam shall be quite long and, during the entire time of using the android phone as a webcam, the LED screen backlight keeps glowing and I am afraid, the rate at which the phone charges it self through the USB of the PC, it discharges itself at a faster rate if I use it as a USB modem and webcam together.
So before the exam exam ends, I might run out of charge on my phone battery. So could you please suggest me some method so that I can somehow turn the backlight off while using it as a webcam to save the power?

The solution doesn't have to be by using ADB.
(Sorry my technical understanding is very limited. I was going to comment instead but didn't have enough reputation. Thanks!)

I don't see any option on the phone:
" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy">
and https://iriun.com/ ([mirror](https://web.archive.org/web/20200920212032/http://web.archive.org/screenshot/https://iriun.com/)) seems to have no documentation.
How can I change the resolution of Iriun 4K Webcam?
---
Skype doesn't allow me to change the webcam resolution (clicking on "webcam setting" doesn't do anything):

How do I turn my Android into a USB Webcam?

This would save me from spending hundreds of dollars on yet another camera. 4k video is supported by my Samsung S6, and that would be amazing to be able to use as a webcam.

Do any of these applications have a background removal feature (= only shows the human face/upper body that appears on the video)? I tried DroidCam but it doesn't seem to have this feature.

On the play store the ip webcam app listing states that Android 4.0 and up is the minimum required (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pas.webcam&hl=en) . My Nexus 6p is running Android 8.1.0. It seems like it should be compatible and should be able to install ip webcam, but still it does not let me.
Any ideas why this might be and suggestions to try?

How to use external OTG webcam for video calls/conference/talks?

> I want to make a video call (like Skype, Skype fo Business, Jitsi ... whatever) using a (external) webcam.
Thats it. My phones (I have a few here, all different vendors from Samsung to 3chintsa) all have two cameras (front/back), which are working fine. I can call (video call), switch cams, conference call my cats - everything is perfect.
Additionally I have an external cam, which also works fine by itself. I can use "IP Webcam" apps, take fotos, make videos, use it as remote cam ... works flawless. Except one thing.
I want (reads: need to) use this camera as a ... camera. Within video calls (app doesn't matter, everything would be fine). But almost no app lets me change or chose the camera, except from switching front to back.
Why would I want to do that? We have a (surprisingly well done) "handsfree microscopic magnifier headset" that, so the idea, should be used as a "remote support assistent" helper, to guide people remotely fixing stuff. We (a non profit org) are trying to reduce our carbon footprint by no longer flying around the earth for visual diagnosis on our tech and/or guiding locals to fix things by themselves. Am I to far from reality here?
I couldn't find any app that lets me do that. What am I doing wrong?
I have tried:
- Skype
- Skype for business
- Jitsi (App)
- Duo
- IMO
- JusTalk
- KiK
- WebRTC
- Hubl
I am I missing something important here?

Android would recognize the external ip-camera as internal so one could use its external ip webcam as a webcam on Whatsapp for example.
I'm thinking of an application that would let me enter the ip+port of my ipwebcam and then emulate it as the internal/virtual webcam like some app do on PC
