Can I run Windows Phone apps on Android devices?
I need to run a Windows Phone 7 app developed for our company but no one has a Windows phone. Is there any way I can run it on my Android, perhaps a simulator or something?

How do I transfer numbers/contacts from Windows Mobile to Android?
I finally activated my Android phone and would like to import numbers/contacts to the new phone. I forgot to ask the store rep how to do this, but I figured since both of them can be hooked up to a computer, I can probably do it myself. I'm on a Windows platform. What's the best way to do this?

Following instructions found on WhatsApp FAQs I created a backup folder on my SD card of my old windows-based phone. I tried to restore chat history on my new Android phone (LG Leon), with no success. I did the following steps: 1. removed previous WhatsApp installation on Android 2. put the sd card with the backup files (files are in SD card in the WhatsApp/WinPhoneBackup folder) 3. reinstalled WhatsApp 4. reactivated WhatsApp (sms stuff) and asked to recover backup Unfortunately there's no way to allow WhatsApp to discover the backup files. Am I doing something wrong? Some specs: > Source phone: Nokia Lumia 520, Whatsapp version: 2.12.266 > Destination phone: Lg Leon with android 5.0.1, Whatsapp version: 2.12.453

How does Whatsapp store the chats and contacts of any given user, and are they recovered if one installs Whatsapp on a different phone?

I currently have a Nokia Lumia, with Windows Phone 8.1 installed, and an Asus Zenfone 5, with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Both of them are old and outdated, but the Lumia is horribly so. In fact, I almost exclusively use the Zenfone, and I've kept the Lumia because of one thing only: I do not want to lose my Whatsapp chats and contacts. Now, though, after the launching of Whatsapp Web, it seems to me that these things are actually backed up on the Whatsapp cloud, and that it would be safe to toss the Lumia and install Whatsapp on the Zenfone. Actually, to be honest, I'm thinking of getting a new phone entirely, and leaving both of these obsolete devices. My question is, should I get a new phone and install Whatsapp on that device, when I desperately want to keep all my chats and contacts that I have on my Lumia? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sorry if this has already been answered. I've scrounged for recent answers about whether it is possible to replace a Lumia 640 Microsoft phone OS with Android, but as far as I can tell it's not yet possible. I figured you guys would have a better idea than myself. Long and short of my asking is that I bought one, and I just don't like the OS at all. I'm very much a novice with rooting and any sort of software manipulation, so I came here hoping for some good news.

As far as I know android is fa more customizable and bug-less as compared o windows but that thing really impressed me. So I was thinking as if it were possible?

I'm switching from a Lumia 1020 (Windows Phone 8.1) to a OnePlus3 (Android M I think). I bought into the MS live.com setup for contacts so all my contact phone numbers and addresses and facebook maappings are there, _however_ I also have a gmail account which is where all my email contacts are stored. I'm worried it's all going to be a big mess, I read this already: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/86105/switching-contacts-from-windows-phone-to-android?newreg=83cc95385d554764b7739e9dfdefe9b0 I did wonder though, do I have to use Google for my contacts on Android or can I continue with Live.com? Maybe that sounds a stupid idea (I'm new to android) but I do use OneNote extensively as well as Google Drive and Gmail so I have a foot in both camps. Is a manual dump of contacts the best way to go in 2016? I was rather expecting my new phone would let me sign into my live.com account and slurp all the contacts!

I have a Neuropad 2 running Android 4 ICS, and it is generally OK when using WiFi. I want to tether it to my HP phone running Windows 6, which means I have to use the WMWiFiRouter app. Unfortunately, this app only offers WEP encryption, which doesn't bother me from a security standpoint. The tablet picks up the SSID, and registers it when given the password, but will not connect to it. Instead, in the WiFi settings, it says "saved, secured with WEP", and when given the command to connect, does nothing. What I find odd is that in the pad's WiFi settings, my own routers are simply identified with their SSIDs, but the one for the phone has an asterisk in parentheses immediately before it i.e. (*)HP_Phone - saved, secured with WEP I do not know what this indicates, or why it is refusing to connect. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

> **Possible Duplicate:** > [Can I install Android on my non-Android device?](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/6849/can-i-install-android-on-my-non-android-device) One of my friends recently got an HTC Touch Pro 2(US Cellular) and I really like it. It has Windows Mobile on it, but somehow he downloaded a special program to his SD card so that he runs some Windows program and it will boot Android. To get back to factory settings, he just has to turn the phone off and on. I looked for a similar phone for my carrier(AT&T) and the closest thing to it is the HTC Tilt 2. I'm aware of some of the changes including different keyboard and no 3.5mm jack. Is it crippled in anyway which would prevent me from doing the same thing my friend did though? Also would it void the warranty or anything like that? Also, one last question. When running Android like that do you have "root" capabilities? Like can I install unofficial applications and/or get to a root terminal?

I want to migrate all my SMSs from WinMo to Android. I currently use PIM Backup to make a backup in case WinMo gets hard resetted, and it works fine. I have complete history of received and sent messages. I tried SMS Exporter but it looked like the XML file doesn't contain sent SMS (bad!!) I tried Sprite Backup: it generates a good EXE file with possibly all the messages it in, but I couldn't restore it by copying the generated files into Android SD card and opening Sprite Backup for Android, since it listed no backup file available in SD. I also read about Sprite Migrate from a 2010 blog post, but I see no more traces of it. What can I do to migrate SMSs? Contacts are no problem: I'll use LocalSync for Windows

I own a dual-booting HTC-HD2 with MIUI on SD card. I already knew, from tutorials, that in order to maximize battery life I should first-boot Android only with 100% of charge. This is currently unclear to me. First, I run Windows Mobile 90% of time, and I use Android occasionally only for some programs that are not available in WM. It happened that I needed to boot Android when on the street, with less than 100% battery. However, I recently noticed that my battery is descharging really fast, for example today from 7:30am to 10am it ran from 100% to 68%, and I really wonder if it could have lasted till 8pm (when I get back home). Is it because Android should **always** be booted with 100% of battery, or because I run 24/7 Skype and Windows Live Messenger in HSDPA from Windows Mobile? Thanks
