I am trying to sync my computer through google drive. Often these symbols appear next to folders and files and I would like to understand exactly what they mean, and when I will see them. Surely there is some big list of the definitions of each symbol? 1. Blue and white cloud: 2. Empty cloud: 3. Empty cloud with arrow: 4. Dotted cloud: 5. Green checkmark: 6. Red exclamation mark 7. Nothing (even when inside a folder with one of the other symbols, or a folder containing files with one of the other symbols) 8. Looks like I can also have multiple of these: (blue and white cloud + empty cloud): Probably there are others, but I'm just surprised to keep encountering new symbols I haven't seen, and I really want to understand the technical meaning behind them.

My Mac only boots to osx utilities and no matter what key codes I hang tried… nothing works

Is there a way (Apple Shortcuts or other) to have a command that will launch the Notes app on macOS **and** open separate windows for multiple of your favorite notes? **Use Case:** I would like to have 3 separate notes open that I'm working on, and have them positioned nicely on the screen. At the end of the day I close them all... and then tomorrow press a button to open all 3 notes again and restore them to their positions. (Restoring window position is *a nice to have*... I'm mostly concerned with being able to open up multiple Notes in separate windows at the touch of a button.) I don't even really care which language... could be Apple Shortcuts, AppleScript, or even Python. (Maybe one of these jumps out as the path of least resistance?)

So, I was trying to download PicsArt and it says that I need a 10.0 IOS version. And that's happenning to almost every awesome app and games in the App Store. And that's the problem, I almost can't download anymore because of that. Now, let's go to the question, How do I download the latest compatible version of an app that I haven't purchased before? Is there any facility to use a hardware-backed key from SecureEnclave inside the guest OS? Does anyone know if Parallels might expose the key generation and encryption features of Secure Enclave to a python script or even some C code running inside an Ubuntu guest OS? I'd like to be able to claim that my Parallels-hosted Python app is using the built-in algorithms and key extraction prevention inherent in an HSM.

It's really frustrating that in Safari, Chrome when i use the horizontal scroll it switches between tabs instead of scrolling the page. I've tried to go through the settings but found nothing on it. I would be grateful for advice.

I have cooked up a JumpCloud Command to automate the configuration of desktop backgrounds. I can get the command to run on a test system (Monterey, 12.4) via Shell if I approve a dialog asking for permission. When I execute via JumpCloud, I get:

Under "Full Disk Access" there's a check for "jumpcloud-agent" ... perhaps I can extend that somehow?

I have a 2018 MacBook Air running the latest non-beta Catalina (10.15.3 as of this writing). For as long as I can remember, I have used Safari’s bookmark syncing via iCloud, and it has worked very well. One might even say flawlessly. Last weekend I decided that I had accumulated too many bookmarks that I was never going to use which was making it hard to find what I wanted, so I decided to “clean house” — I exported my bookmarks from Safari and deleted _everything_ except _one folder_ named “Forums” which I use often. I logged in to my Macs and iOS devices to make sure that they all had the same one folder left. I think I might have had to manually delete them again on one or two devices, honestly I don’t remember because I didn’t realize this was going to become A Thing. So now have: - one MacBook Air running Catalina - one Mac Mini running Mojave - one Mac Mini running High Sierra - one iPad - one iPhone The bookmarks on the MacBook Air are working fine locally. However, everything else is broken. Changes made on other devices will sync to other devices, but do _NOT_ sync to the MacBook Air. All of the other devices (except the Air) keep getting duplicates of that “Forums” folder. I just deleted about a dozen of them. Even as I was deleting them, more appeared. I tried deleting a bookmark on one of the non-MacBook Airs, and not only did it not sync to the Air, but more duplicates re-appeared. Once the duplicates stopped happening, future changes sync between all of the devices _except the Air_ seem to happen almost simultaneously, even for the Mac mini which is co-located across the USA. I logged out of iCloud completely on the MacBook Air. I rebooted my MacBook Air. I logged back in to iCloud on the MacBook Air. The exact same problem is happening. The MBAir is not getting changes from other Macs, even though it is on the same Wi-Fi network with several other devices which are syncing perfectly well. Making changes on the MBAir causes more duplicates on the other devices. At this point it seems like this must be a Catalina issue. Then I remembered my 2015 MacBook was running Catalina too, so I booted it up. It is syncing just like all of the other non-MBAir devices. So it’s not Catalina. It’s something about Catalina on _this_ account. I tried logging into iCloud.com to see if I could delete my Safari bookmarks from there (“The truth is in the cloud”) but there is no option to do that. The only option is to restore deleted bookmarks from the previous 30 days. I am well-and-truly out of ideas. I guess I could create another local user account on my MBAir and log in to my iCloud account there, but I’m not sure what that would really accomplish anything meaningful. If it worked—then what would I do next? Any ideas welcomed and appreciated. --- ***Edited to add:*** Not sure if this is important or related, but I'm also having problems with the Home.app on my MacBook Air not syncing properly with other HomeKit devices. I do not have any outgoing firewall software installed like Little Snitch or Trip Mode. --- ***Edit 2:*** I did a Safe Boot to eliminate any potential software issues with iCloud, and it had no effect. --- ***Edit 3:*** Finding no good answers for this anywhere, I logged in to my backup Administrator account, deleted my regular account, and then re-created it. Safari bookmarks are syncing again. I did find some messages in the Console log about the SafariBookmarksSyncAgent but googling the error message and/or SafariBookmarksSyncAgent itself did not turn up any helpful information.

If I am replying to an email in Folder "TEST", how do I get a reply to automatically go to the Folder "TEST" as opposed to the Sent folder? This helps with productivity so that I don't have to move the responses to the folders they are in. If the message responding to resides in the inbox, the response will go to the Sent folder and can be moved to another folder at another time.

I like to read PDFs on iPad (manuals, articles etc.). For some reason, unlike on macOS Preview, the thumbnail side is shown permanently. This seems to me a SERIOUS design flaw: it deprives the user of control over the presentation, wastes precious screen space, and, most importantly, RANDOMLY – which I think is the worst quality of a design – reduces focus without ANY gain (the thumbnails could show up by tipping the screen, just as all other additional controls are and/or show up when scrolling). Did I do something wrong or is there really no way to hide it?

I have set the Mission Control key in BetterTouchTool to execute an AppleScript and it worked fine before the update from Mojave to Montery which I just did do shell script "../bluetoggle.sh" content of file is #!/bin/sh blueutil -p toggle but can't execute in BetterTouchTool.. it says Executing file from Terminal works flawless. I have no idea how, as the color profile remains the same, but whenever I close the lid on my MacBook, the external monitor changes to a blue tint. I've tried changing the monitor's settings, as well as ensuring the right color profile is on.

I'm trying to connect my Mac Pro tower (2020) to my network using ethernet but am experiencing problems if use my Netgear GS105 switch, this setup results in the MacPro saying "Cable connected but self-assigned IP". I've renewed DHCP leases, changed all sorts of settings including on my router but nothing works, I have also validated that this setup does work fine with every other computer (including a MacPro Trashcan) and if I connect the MacPro Cheese-grater directly to the router it works so to recap: This does *not* work: [Router]----[Switch]----[MacPro2020] This does work: [Router]----[Switch]----[MacPro Trashcan] These also work: [Router]----[MacPro2020] [Router]----[MacPro2020] I've also tried different cables in place of both and and it doesn't improve the situation, every possible combo works except if I have the MacPro 2020 Tower plugged in via the Netgear switch. Is there some issue with unmanaged switches and MacPro 2020 Towers?

I can see Dropbox but I can't find Google Drive on my Finder. If I want to sync a file to GDrive, I have to open the folder GDrive by click on the symbol of Gdrive. It's very inconvenient. I'm wondering if there is a way to display GDrive on the Finder, just like where Dropbox is?

After a forced reboot (and another reboot for good measure), the applications I allow to "Accessibility" control under System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy no longer includes Rectangle.app nor allows me to add it manually. Nothing appears there anymore and nothing can be added.

Looking to find a way to use a terminal command to disable/enable desktop widgets in macOS Sonoma. The closest I have been able to find so far is a script that does this. However, I would like to do this from terminal, or from another app (such as BetterTouchTool) without running the script if possible. Thanks!

I've been trying to learn how to change a bluetooth ring's button commands, it has 7 buttons, on the listing it's called a scrolling ring, as it has w4 arrow keys with a play/pause button in the middle and 2 buttons toward the bottom, one for bluetooth pairing, and it works to change the volume. i'm having a terrible time.
