I'm talking in particular about the default Google groups named "Family", "Friends" and "Coworkers"; since I don't use them, and in their stead I have added some other groups that are more useful to me, I'd like to remove or simply hide these default ones, in order to keep the list of groups less cluttered.
Is it possible to do so?

I used to own a T-Mobile Mytouch 4g before, which had the pause character before extension otherwise '*p*' on that handset and it was working fine.
Now, I own and use a Nexus 4 and I understood that the pause character on the Nexus 4 is '*,*' (*a comma*).
I replaced all the contact entries that had a '*p*' with '*,*' (*a comma*) in my contacts. And now it is not working, basically, what happens is when I make the call using that contact's number, the number gets called but the extension is not dialled automatically.
Anyone would know how to fix my issue?

I have the dates saved in my contacts (CardDAV-Sync address book) and can view them with the People app. I have not found a way to set up an alert or reminder, though. Alternatively I'd like to see them as events in Calendar. I would hope there is some option in the stock Android 4.3 of my Nexus 4 to configure this, but if it is not possible, do you know of a simple reminder app _that does not ask for full internet access_?
Thanks in advance.

People app disappeared from apps on Nexus 4
It's a system app, but somehow I disabled it. Now, it won't show me my contacts or anything. If I try to see a missed call from notification drawer, it leaves me at home screen. I cannot view any of my call records.

I have tried double-tapping and holding down their icon or their chats without any success, and looking at the "..." options menus. No luck. I do know how to add contacts from email.

Can you set the colour for contacts in Android 5 Lollipop?
I just upgraded to Android 5.0 which made all my contacts' random colours even more prominent. Is it possible to customize the colour for each contact? For example, if I don't like that Mister Brown got a green background, can I change that, haha?

Somehow I can't add/edit birthdays in the people app. Shouldn't this be a **basic** feature for a **people application** .
I know they are somewhere because the birthday adapter shows the imported birthdays from my VCF file in the calendar.
So how do I add a birthday?

There is far more information about my Contacts in my Android phone then what is visible on-line from https://www.google.com/contacts .
Primarily I am referring to the information from "linked contacts" which Android captures and consolidates in the "People" "Phonebook" on the Android OS.
Presumably, Google is capturing and storing this information from my Linked Accounts (the content is not dynamically being pulled from these apps every time I pull up the Phone book). I would like to view the total information regarding my Contacts on-line including this metadata... anyone know where this may be available?

I'm using Android 4.4.2 with my new Google Nexus 5. I have a question about adding new contacts. On my workstation I'm running my own cloud system. It is an Apache sever running eGroupware on it and I'm using Sogo-Connector and Synthesis Sync Clients to synchronize all my clients. I synchronize all my contacts and calendar data over my different clients such as Laptops and Mobile phones. Now I want also use the cloud to sync my Google Nexus. Adding a new contact on the workstation (or any other client except the Nexus 5) works fine and after synchronization the new contact is available on the Nexus 5.
If I want to add a new contact on the Nexus 5 itself, I really want to force the Nexus to add it in the *internal phone addressbook* instead of the Google Account. However this option is not available, because the phone forces me to sync it with the google account.
How can I add a new contact to the internal phone addressbook?

my question is more related to the Google contacts system than to Android itself, but hope you can help me.. I have a Nexus 5, and my agenda looks organized with everything that I added perfectly. The problem is when I go to the people section is shows me clones of my contacts for example: my girlfriend contact with phone number and another with the Skype name, but it's the same person. The problem is that when I try to merge both contacts to be perfect, it doesn't stay with my contact name but instead with the Skype name! For example, her name is Ana and her Skype name is Anaaa.. And when I merge them it appears now as Ana.. Not only in people but also in my contact list.. I tried to see in the settings to fix this, but can't find the solution.

I recently had to wipe my Nexus 4 in order to root it.
Prior to that when I received a call from my home telephone it would display my wife's contact from the caller ID.
Since rooting it now displays my own contact instead.
My contacts are synced from my Google account and I haven't changed anything on my Google account.
The only thing that has changed is the wipe and root.
How can I get it to display my wife's contact again?

I have a Teac tablet (classic101) with Android 4.0.
After signing in on Gmail and Drive and everything, my contacts won't show up anywhere. It doesn't show when I start writing an address in Gmail. It doesn't even show after I downloaded contacts+ (the contacts are empty).
When I go to sync it, it suggests syncing email, calender and drive. But, there is no contacts!
How do I sync my contacts so that they will appear on my Gmail on the tablet? I have over 2000 contacts on Gmail.
It works fine on my phone, just not on the tablet.

I have researched on the net for this and have come accross useful apps like Merge+, Duplicate contacts, etc.
But they don't exhibit the feature that i am looking for..
When we copy contacts from phone to SIM, if a contact has multiple numbers associated, each of these numbers gets stored as a separate contact. For example, contact "abc" with numbers num1 and num2 will get stored as two separate contacts abc->num1 and abc1->num2.
I want to merge these contacts back to single contact when imported to phone. How can this be accomplished?

Is there a way in the stock contact app to display only contacts for a given account?
If not, is it possible to achieve this with a different app?

Using a new Nexus 4 with OS 4.2.2.
I've pulled my contacts onto the phone (from Exchange/OL using Companion Link) and they are synchronized to the phone's Contacts (people?) app. I can see them from both the Google People app and from the phone app.
I have over 3000 contacts, and am trying to set up my favorites for people I call regularly (a list of about 20 contacts.) This was very easy to do on my last Android phone, and the favorites would show me a list of contacts.
On this 4.2.2 phone, the favorites area is displayed with the contacts' pictures as a huge tile, with the contact names at the bottom of the tile. I do not maintain pictures for my contacts, so I do not want to take up all of this screen real estate for non-existent pictures. And, even if I had pictures, I wouldn't want them to appear as these huge tiles when I'm trying to look at a list of contacts.
How can I do one of the following things?
1. Force the phone/people apps to not show the picture tiles in lists.
2. Remove the picture tiles altogether.
3. Ensure that the picture tiles do not appear when there is no picture.
