Until recently my email worked just fine but now when I read an email the body of the email doesn't load. I can see the from name and email and the subject, but I don't get the content of the email.
As far as I'm aware I haven't changed anything. And other accounts load the complete email.

I have my school's e-mail account being checked via IMAP SSL/TLS on port 993. It is an Exchange mailbox but I did not want to to use MAPI and have my device "managed" by the school.
Anyhow, this worked fine prior to 4.2.2 update. Ever since then, e-mail is not being synchronized automatically and requires me to manually press the synchronize button.
My testing:
1. Send test e-mail to self from another account
2. Set checking frequency to 5 minutes
3. Wait 10 minutes (just to pad a bit)
Still nothing. If I go to the client and manually hit refresh though, I do get the message pulled. Also, if I restart the phone, all the new messages get pulled as well.
Things I've checked:
- **Factory reset**: Reluctantly did one yesterday but, unfortunately, did not fix the issue.
- **System Settings -> Accounts -> Email**: The synchronize button icon is green, when I click on the account, "Email" setting is checked. Says "Last synced" with a time that's over 5 minutes ago.
- **System Settings -> Data Usage -> Menu -> Auto-Sync Data**: Saw that this was the issue with many people. That, however, is checked for me.
- **Wifi vs. Mobile Data**: I've tested on both and no difference in results.
Does anyone have any suggestions on things I should check or test to figure this out.

I am using cyanogenmod11 on both my phone and tablet which comes with AOSP email app. I've also tried the latest stock email app that Google released recently on the playstore.
No matter what I do, I can't get my email. The server settings (both imap and smtp) validates fine but nothing happens.
I've looked at various guides available in the net. They are very much the same. The settings used are the same.
I have tried K-9 mail app using the same settings and that works fine retrieving my data. So I believe I'm using the correct settings.
Any ideas what I could set in the stock email app?
Thanks :)

I use my phone for emergency notification of critical systems 24/7. So when I sleep, I can't just put my phone on "Silent", I must mute only my eMail notification (which I do need on when I'm not sleeping). In this way, SMS emergency messages always go through.
But to do this, I have to press: , , , , and then a silent ring tone.
Is there not a simple toggle? I've tried to make use of apps "MyProfile" and "Notification Toggle", but they don't offer toggles into the eMail system settings.
I am using a new Samsung Galaxy Victory Model SPH-L300 with Android V4.1.2.
How do I get to toggle the notification of incoming email?

I am using Android's Mail app on my Motorola DROID RAZR M for my Yahoo! account. Last week, I tried to "reply to all" on an email that was sent to over 100 people and Yahoo! rejected it, claiming it was suspicious activity. That's okay, but the email is kept being resent. Every few minutes I get an error message on my phone saying that the email was not sent.
What I have tried:
1. I deleted it from the drafts folder in my Yahoo! account, but that didn't help.
2. I see the message in the "Outbox" but I can't do anything to it there. When I touch it, I get a message saying "Cannot open message. Message is currently being sent and is unable to be opened."
3. I stopped the app from running but it still won't let me do a/t to the email in the outbox.
How do I get my Razr to stop trying to resend the email?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone and use the native, built-in email app for two corporate/ActiveSync accounts. Recently something went wrong with the settings of one of the accounts, which caused my contacts to disappear. Removing the account and adding it back fixed that issue. Since the account syncs to the server (Outlook 365), I didn't think there would be any loss taking this approach. I was wrong. Evidently draft emails are not synced, and I lost several very important ones. I am desperately trying to find a way to recover the contents of these draft emails that disappeared.
On the recommendation of a friend, I tried using a full-text search program (Astrogrep) to search the phone while connected to my computer, but the program wouldn't allow me to search the phone folders. I also tried using the Wondershare Dr. Fone DataRecovery program to recover messages, but this just keeps getting stuck at 99% during the scanning process (stayed there at least 30 minutes before I backed out) and doesn't bring any results.
I've read in a few places that these emails might be stored in an SQLite database, but I'm not sure how to browse, search, or access this.
I'm grasping at straws at this point, hoping there is some way to find the old draft emails in a file or database of the phone. I'm probably "moderate" when it comes to being tech savvy...so by now I'm looking for some good advice and step-by-step instructions from anyone who might know 1) if these drafts could still be in the phone and 2) how I can locate them to access the content.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

I'm running Android 8.0 on an LG V20
When I attempt to connect my Yahoo! mail to the stock android email app I'm unable to enter my application password for Yahoo! Instead the native android email app decides that if "yahoo.com" is in the email address then they would connect me to an OAuth type 2FFA (2 factor authentication) regardless of the fact I chose MANUAL SETUP. When I attempt to connect using the Oath I get a text message from Yahoo! with my 6 digit pin. After entering it there's a small popup at the bottom of the screen that only says 'Not Authenticated' with no indication of why. I've already tried 6 times both using the Yahoo! option and the manual setup option.
POP3 works allows me to connect using my application password that I made in Yahoo!, but it sucks because if I read the email elsewhere, it still appears as unread on my phone.
How can I access my yahoo email with the native android client using IMAP when OAuth isn't working?
EDIT 9-11-2020:
I have the email app source pulled up, and there's an XML that defines providers. Since it's an XML I figured it's probably read at run time and if I could find it and remove the entries for Yahoo then the OAuth plugin shouldn't get triggered.
Here's a link to the email AOSP repository. https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/Email/+/refs/tags/android-8.0.0_r50
This is the app that is getting called. I have android studio and I'd be glad to recompile it if someone has a link to instructions for that.

**Edit:** I use the stock email app for about 1 year without problems. I have 2x IMAP accounts connected. Recently I updated security patches to latest available Dec 2018 _V22. But after firmware update the battery drain increases too fast, so I decided to revert back to May 2018 CUBOT_KING_KONG_7081C_V16_20180517 (both still 7.0, no updates 7.1.2 available).
The phone is rooted so I can see that it downloades many files
/data/data/com.android.email/cache
which is occupying 1.6 GB. I have cleared cache many times which maybe explains the massive data usage 38 GB this month. The question is why it happens just now and not the months before?
How can i prevent increasing cache?
[
body1009174325.tmp
in cache folder each with size 44,76 KB. I have inspected this file and it turns out it is a corrupt PDF which is downloaded a million times again and again. I found the responsible email and the App says attachment download has failed. After I pressed "save" the attachment was successful downloaded. After I cleared cache, the tmp files are gone. Now it starts repeating with next message (different tmp files, all the same). This time it is not a PDF and its hard to find the related email.
How can I avoid this behavior?

Open attachment that contains forwarded email (MIME type message/rfc822)
When I forward an email with Mutt from my laptop, Mutt adds the forwarded email as an attachment with MIME type "message/rfc822". Unfortunately, Android's stock email client "com.android.email" version 8.1.0 displays the received email like this:
Two things are wrong with that:
* It doesn't show the forwarded email's content.
* It doesn't show the content of the non-forwarded email, the body of the email I wrote in Mutt.
The email displays properly when using K-9 Mail.
Is there a way to make the email app show the email and its attachment?

I have two devices getting email from the same exchange activesync server. same account.
One is an old 2.3.3 nexus, another is a samsung tablet with 4.1 (or newer, not 100% sure now.. it may be 4.2)
on the server i have lots of folders, in the following setting:
- drafts
- outbox
- sent
- trash
- junk email
- sync issues
- server failure
- sync issues 1
- local failures
- rss feed
- FolderA
- inbox
- FolderB
- FolderC
- FolderD
- FolderE
this is the inverse order it shows up on my outlook client... i don't think folders have an order as far as i can tell.
Anyway, on both devices, i get this:
- drafts
- outbox
- sent
- trash
- junk email
- sync issues
- server failure
- sync issues 1
- local failures
- rss feed
- FolderC
- FolderD
- inbox
Note that
sync issues
was flattened. And that it choose two random folders (C and D) to display outside of INBOX.
now, i don't care for any of those folders! but I need FolderA
and FolderB
badly.
I already looked on all options on both devices, and there is nothing to select more folders. All I can do is hide the folders it arbitrarily selected already. I have already went trhu the info on https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/40290/how-can-i-select-which-folders-to-sync-via-exchange-activesync
I also do not think it is related to options on the client, as both devices have the same two folders selected. It may be something on the server... maybe a flag telling that those are to be synced? It is not based on age, or alphabetical order. i tried right-cliking all the folders on outlook and looking for anything, but the properties of them all are the same.
I tried deleting the Sync issues
folder on outlook (i can't delete the others such as RSS feed even never have any use for those)... and reprovisioned one of my devices... and even though i don't have the sync issues folder on my outlook anymore, it still synced when i removed/added the account back.
I can move both folders that i want in or out of INBOX, i don't care.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the unwanted folders and sync the wanted ones?
EDIT:
I removed my account, renamed the to folders that do get synced to X_folderC... wipped all data for the stock android app. recreated the account. and bam. it synced X_folderC... i hate this phone.
So it is definitely something on the Folders meta data from exchange... how do i even check that? On the Samsung device with 4.1 or 4.2 i could generate a debug log of the app talking to exchange, what should i look for?
EDIT 2:
i created a new folder, Folder_D2, moved all mail from Folder_D there, moved the rules to move email there, and deleted Folder_D... now the phone has, Folder_D and Folder_D2!!! and still no sign of the folders i do want.
Also while doing it, i noticed that on the server email rules, the two top ones sent email folder_C and folder_D... so i thought this may be the deciding factor... so i moved the one that sends email to Folder_A to the top of the rule list... but no luck. nothing have changed.
EDIT 3:
finally found something! if i create a new folder, it syncs!!! so i can solve this recreating all folders I want synced. ...tedious but that should work. The ones not being synced are the ones migrated from the old exchange server... for some reason they have some property/flag that makes them not be synced on android. But i can't see anything from outlook.

Our Huawei P8 Lite (2016 Android 5) email client is not synchronising correctly with the BT mail server. It picks up all the incoming mails, but does not seem to take account of mails deleted on the server by either the iPad or under webmail. We have three 'routes' into our email - webmail from various Windoze machines, the iPad and the Huawei.
The outgoing IMAP is set to port 25 while the incoming is set to port 110. 'Delete mail from server' is set to 'when I delete from inbox'
Ironically, the old Prestigio (Android 4.4 KitKat) phone with exactly similar settings, except for the ports, does synchronise correctly.
Most puzzled.

I'm using the Gmail app on a Pixel 2 running Android 10. I'm connecting to a private IMAP server (despite the app name, "Gmail" is a general-purpose mail client, not just for Google Mail).
**How can I get it to recognize my Archive folder?**
My IMAP server (Dovecot) offers an Archive folder, which is honored by all other IMAP clients (Roundcube, Windows 10 Mail). The Andoid Gmail app, however, does not show an archive button when reading the mail, and swiping will delete—rather than archive—the message.
When I'm reading Google Mail, it works as expected; there's an archive button next to the trash, and swiping archives the message. With my Dovecot account, the archive button isn't shown, and swiping moves it to the Trash folder.
Here's what the IMAP server returns for available folders:
d list "" *
* LIST (\HasNoChildren \Archive) "." Archive
* LIST (\HasNoChildren \Sent) "." Sent
* LIST (\HasNoChildren \Drafts) "." Drafts
* LIST (\HasNoChildren \Junk) "." Junk
* LIST (\HasNoChildren \Trash) "." Trash
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "." INBOX
d OK List completed (0.001 + 0.000 secs).
This is correct, and is honored by other clients.
In the Gmail app, if I click on the hamburger menu when viewing a message, I can select "Move to", and it shows an Archive folder there (in fact, Archive is the only folder listed there). Selecting this does move it to the Archive folder. This is unworkable, though; I need the Archive button while reading, and I need swiping to archive instead of deleting.

Hello. Here is the [illegible]

This is the last remind message
Based on these messages featuring John Smith , John Doe (I assume this was intentional, though it could be intended as someone with a surname of Doe choosing an English name of "John"), and Eva Green , I suspect that they were intentionally fake names.
Clicking on the preview item opened it up, and it was empty.
I wiped emails from the GMail application, and wiped the tablet clean, prior to seeing these fake messages.
The tablet isn't intended to send or receive text messages, though it received a few in the past prior to me wiping it.
How can I stop these fake messages appearing?

I have an HTC One M8 and am using the stock launcher and am not rooted.
I keep getting the error *Unfortunately, Mail has stopped.* when I try opening the stock HTC mail app.
I have gone into the App Info for the mail app and tried to "Clear cache" but it doesn't look like it's doing anything.
I have also gone to **Settings>Accounts & Sync>Exchange ActiveSync** and unchecked Mail in the account that is using it.
I have also tried rebooting my phone.
Any other tips or advice aside from basically wiping the phone?
