The answer to this question is not valid, because embedding the album art inside the media files does not always work, as I outlined in this question . So basically, I want the hundreds of album art images to stop showing up in my gallery. I can't use .nomedia because that would invalidate any music in the same directory. Are there any other options?

Hi and thanks in advance Samsung Galaxy S 3 Mini, gt-i8190n, android 4.1.2 **My problem:** there are preinstaled/default/built in images for sound files that appear in Music Player (they're ugly for me) That's what I write about. **My question:** where can I find them, what is the path to the folder with them, can they be accessed without rooting, can they be switched? I don't need to nor I want to change album artwork with any app, I don't need to have album artwork matched with every sound file, I'd just like to switch up those random built in images to some that don't hurt my eyes with their ugliness :P And I'd really, really like to know where they are and what is path to them, even if I won't be able to change them, but at least to satisfy my curiosity, and I'd appreciate an answer with those informations the most. Please and thank You :)

I have copied my mp3 files to my new Google Nexus 7 (Android 4.2.1) via USB into the Music folder. It can be played with *Google Play Music (version 4.5.910l.560208)*, but it is always showing one and the same cover for any track. This problem also shows up with other music players such as Rocket player. In VLC and iTunes on my PC the mp3 covers are just displayed fine! Do I have to change something on my mp3's in order to display the covers correctly on that device or is there some kind of bug in the mp3-decoder? I couldn't find such a problem report in the web, so my assumption would be that there might be something wrong with my mp3 files. Thanks in advance ...

Then, some weeks later, on my computer, I updated the album art in the ID3 tag of some of the MP3s, reconnected the phone and overwrote the MP3 files on the SD card. However, the Music app on the phone (which came preinstalled and I believe is a Sony app) is still showing the old album art. Presumably the app has its own database of album art, which needs to be refreshed from the MP3 files' ID3 tags. How can I force it to do this?

One of my albums has a completely unrelated album art associated with it. I cannot find the album details and hope to get the album art that way because it's an independent album. The album art I'm trying to use is actually a scan of the album itself. I have tried: - Renaming the album and album folder, deleting the previous folder from my phone, and ending my music player's process. - Deleting the album's folder from the phone, and moving the folder somewhere else. - Changed the album art to different images that are slightly different images with Windows Media Player, then uploading AlbumArt.jpg, Folder.jpg, etc. into the album's directory. I've probably tried a few more, but I can't remember at the moment. It's very annoying having to look at this low-quality, unrelated album art whenever I start playing my music.

I really liked this feature and after hours of searching I can't figure out how to get it back. I am willing to root to get it back, but I'm not sure if I can download the bootloader to get back to kitkat. Is there a way to restore this functionality in lollipop or will I need to find a way to go back to kitkat (or get another phone on it?)

I checked the files under \Android\data\com.android.providers.media\albumthumbs\ and they are in the correct aspect ratio. I tried erasing the App data. But I just can't make the Album Arts look right. Any ideas?

Occassionally I'll be listening to or reading media on my phone and the screen will lock. When this happens, the lock-screen background is the media "cover". For white or very light media covers, there is very little contrast between the lock screen numbers and the background, rendering the numbers virtually invisible. In my last android version, I could swipe down from the clock to bring up a lock-screen with a plain black background. This is not working with Lollipop. Is there some trick I'm missing, short of forcing a restart on my phone? (Samsung S4 16GB)

One of my albums has a corrupt album art and I can do nothing to fix it. The cover is stored as a file named folder.jpg in the audio files' folder. The picture looks fine when I open it with any picture viewer on my computer. But on my Android device it looks like a plain gray box with only a small part of the upper-left corner showing the actual picture. I've deleted this picture and replaced it with a higher res one I found on the Internet (totally different source). The album art is still corrupt. I've deleted the album (audio + jpg files), rebooted the device, and copied it back. The album art is still corrupt. I've deleted any embedded album art in the MP3 files' tags using foobar2000 and MP3Tag. The album art is still corrupt. I've cleared the data of the "Media storage" app and rebooted the device. The album art is still corrupt. I don't know what I still can do. The audio playing apps I've been using include Winamp, Songbird, Google Play Music and Shuttle Music Player. Each of them showed the corrupt album art the same way. I'm using Android ICS on an HTC One V.

My brain is wired to text. Album art conveys no useful information and I would like to just display the artist name and song title in large letters. Is there a way to disable or drastically reduce the size of album art in *any* music player app? I've bought most of the popular ones and tried the stock player and many OEM players. They all want to display the album art and just put in a blank square if it's missing. Even apps with skinning functionality seem to always have the album art present.

My music library master is stored in my PC, and I sync to my phone on a regular basis. Most of my album covers are stored in separate image files inside the related album folder, whereas very few of them are embedded in songs metadata. Now, I noticed the stock ROM player in my phone is not able to handle the covers in separate image files; only covers embedded in metadata are shown. So I googled around and I understand now there is no guarantee a certain player can handle separate albumart pictures and there is no fixed filename and format. So I'd like to know if there is a way to determine if a player can handle separate albumart pictures and the filename and format it uses (e.g. AlbumArt.jpg).

The MediaStore provider on Android is really screwed up. On Android it isn't possible to define different cover art for songs in the same Album. Especially for compilations and "Various Artists" Albums. This is annoying! PlayerPro was able to use ID3 Cover-Art instead of the MediaStore cover art, but this doesn't work since it has been updated. Same goes for most music players for android, as they always use the MediaStore Class on Android to get the cover, and not their own implementation to get the ID3 embedded cover art. To work around this issue, I can tag the Album-Artist tag on all files with the same Album tag: Artist Title Album AlbumArtist CoverTag Displayed Cover Daft Punk Get lucky Singles Daft Punk get lucky get lucky Deftones Bored Singles Deftones bored get lucky Avicii Levels Singles Avicii levels levels Avicii Wake me up Singles Avicii wake me up wake me up This work around will correctly display different covers for each of those songs, all in the "Singles" album, BUT not for the two different songs by Avicii. It's because the Mediastore Class will allow different covers for different "AlbumArtists" on a single Album. Since the AlbumArtist tag for both Avicii songs are the same, it will only use one of the covers for all Avicii songs in the same album "Singles". Solutions not preferred: - Weird tag changes - separate folders on the phone **Any solution for PlayerPro, on Android itself, or my system of tagging? Or is there a different player which can handle embedded cover art correctly?**
