On my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running AOKP 4.2 JellyBean, WiFi has worked without issue before on this exact same hotspot, and it is currently working for other devices, so I'm assuming the error is in the phone. After trying another hotspot, I could see that the WiFi is definitely dead. But after enabling encryption on my device, it gets stuck in a loop. It detects the actual network, but it goes like this:
Saved with X authentication > Authenticating> Obtaining IP address > (Repeat)
I also tried deleting the network and adding it again without success, thinking it had something to do with the cached WPA key.
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot before I just wipe and reinstall? Is this some kind of known issue?

Today I flashed *AOKP Marshmallow ROM* in my Moto E. After that I flashed *Nano GAPPS* from *OpenGapps*. Since then this message keeps popping up for about 2-3 minutes after I launch any Google Play related app.
I have tried every conventional solution. I wiped cache and data of Google Play Store, Google Play Services and Google Play Framework, but to no avail. Just now I flashed another GAPP (pico). But still the problem is there.
So what can I do to make it stop?

Ringtones incompatible with custom rom. How to improve compatibility?

I have been using Samsung Galaxy s4 stock firmware up until now. Yesterday I switched to AOKP 4.4.4 (18/10/2014 build) and I've noticed that none of my old ringtones work (12 unrelated ringtones). I tried converting some of them to ogg, mp3 and wav formats with audacity. Whatever i do, they do not appear in ringtone list when moved to system/media/audio/ringtones. They cannot be selected with ES explorer - I get "Wrong file type, please select again" message. If I select them with root explorer the ringtone is set to "None".
Some mp3 files in my music library work, but not the ringtones.
I assume it has something to do with ringtone format, however, I have got no idea where to start looking.
Is there any setting I could change or an app I could change / install to add the compatibility?
Is there any particular app responsible for sound playback in android?
EDIT: I am running AOKP on Samsung Galaxy S4.
EDIT2: I recently installed latest official firmware. During instalation I tried resetting to phone default firmware and ringtones worked. Now that I am on new official firmware, old ringtones do not work again. Also, On the new FW I used official ringtone selection tool (that creates a ringtone file). The ringtone created works in ringtone selector list, but cannot be added to list if removed from the list or if moved.
This leads me to believe problem is with some update all newer firmwares (including AOKP) have.
No real answer to this question, I am forced to use a 3rd party app to use my old ringtones.

Instead I added the following lines to my

Based on MCC and MNC data from Wikipedia and the information available online in general. I also enabled Data Roaming and International Roaming. I have rebooted my phone. I am on a Samsung Galaxy S3 running the latest AOKP nightly.
However, I still get an R in my signal tray and cannot connect to the internet. Please advise - any help would be appreciated even if it a nudge in a new direction.
Cheers,

I have an LG G3 (d855) phone on which I had Cyanogenmod 14 and which I wanted to upgrade to LineageOS.
I booted to recovery, wiped everything and tried using adb sideload to load the image, but it failed at 47% with
cannot verify whole file signature
and cannot load volume /misc
errors.
I verified the md5sum of the image, tried the other images available and also an AOKP image, and the symptoms are always the same.
I don't seem to have access to another way of loading an image on the phone, I was not able to enter download mode (I only get either a black screen or a battery picture), and the recovery mode seems to accept adb connections so I cannot push an image on it (I get a adb: error: connect failed: device unauthorized. This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
error). And of course having wiped the system, I cannot do anything from here.
**Edit** : I've been able to start the phone in download mode by using a different USB cable. However, I cannot find a tool on Linux to upload an image to it. Some sites say that heimdall should support it but it seems they are misleading as heimdall itself only claims to support Samsung devices.

In older versions I could add new home screens on both sides, so I could have the default home screen be in the middle for easy access. But I can't figure out how to set the default now. How can I resolve this issue?

Rebooting doesn't always help, some times it goes away only to return a day or 2 later. Has anyone else encountered this issue with AOKP or other CyanogenMod based roms, and if so how you did addressed this? how should I fix this or disable this?

Yesterday my noble Galaxy Nexus (maguro) sacrificed itself to save me when I fell from my mountain bike.
I would like to copy the data to my computer. What is good: the screen and the sim card is broken, but the rest of the phone seems to be still working.
When I plug in the phone on my Linux (Debian) computer, it is detected as multimedia device. However, I cannot access the data, as I would need to unlock the screen (which is broken).
Alternatively, I tried to access the phone using the adb-tools. However, the device is not listed:
$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
$
I can see my phone in lsusb:
$ lsusb
...
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 04e8:685c Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9250 Phone [Galaxy Nexus]
...
I tried some different stuff, like generating a
/etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules
file, but this didn't help.
I also tried to boot the phone to the bootloader, but I didn't succeed - maybe the connection to the volume buttons is broken.
Some additional information that may help: my Galaxy Nexus runs AOKP and Clockworkmod is installed.

The screen of my Galaxy Nexus is broken (also see https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/80767/cannot-access-galaxy-nexus-via-adb) .
It seems like USB-debugging was deactivated, so my only way to recover the data is to flash a rom on the phone that has USB-debugging activated per default. I think this should work using fastboot.
At the moment the device has AOKP installed. If I reflash AOKP on the phone, will USB-debugging be activated?
In other words: Does AOKP have USB-debugging activated per default?

I am Running AOKP on my HTC Desire S and it has a weird issue with sound - If I reboot the device with headphones plugged in, the sound (specifically the bass) is OK but if I remove the headphones and if any kind of sound is played through the Phone's speaker (a touch, a keystroke, a song, a notification anything) and then try to plug in the headphones again, the bass cracks. Of course, I have reported the issue to original developer who has ported the build, but for now if I could just restart the sound engine, I may be able to solve it temporarily. Is there any such service that runs or is there any way to do so?
AOKP 4.1 milestone 1
**EDIT**: This is not an answer to my original question (so not putting as an answer) but this kind of solved my problem. Well when you lose bass, just plug the headphones in, call a number (I always call my customer care which is toll free and not human :P) wait for the ring, cut the call and Whoila! The bass is back! :D I know it sounds crazy, but it works!

First and forehand, I am running JB 4.2.2 AOKP on my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3. I have the latest gapps package installed after every time I flash an update to my ROM.
For some reason though, whenever I try to update either Gmail or Play Music, I get the error "Package file was not signed correctly. Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again."
I can't uninstall the apps because they are used as system apps, and the best I can do is disable them, but that still didn't let me update them. I'm sure it has something to do with the gapps package that I flashed, but why does it not give me the same error when I update Play Movies and Play Magazines?
I do not use Titanium Backup to back up any of my apps, so I saw that that was a problem for some other people. If however, there is another question that relates more to mine, I will be glad to go and check it out, but after my looking I did not find a solution to my specific problem. Thanks in advance!
**EDIT:** Here's the link to the [gapps package](http://www.task650.jocoje.com/Gapps/gapps-4.2.2-jb-6.12.2013-signed.zip) that I installed as well as the [exact ROM](http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766684) I am using.

I am running Paranoid Android and love it, but it is hard on battery life. So I am looking at flashing back to AOKP.
In looking around, I've seen some vague references to a "Permission Management" ([such as mentioned here](http://aokp.co/blog/milestone-2-has-finally-arrived)) in the latest AOKP... but after googling for a couple days, can find no real details on it.
Is this something that is in the current stable builds of AOKP, or is just referring to the built-in one from Android 4.3 in the latest AOKP nightlies?
If anyone can point me to an article with a some good information on this feature and its current build status, I'd be very grateful. Been missing this functionality since LBE Privacy Guard died with Jelly Bean.
Mind you, I am aware of other options such as LBE, PDroid, XPrivacy.
I'm looking specifically for more information about AOKP's permission management.
Thanks!

I have a rooted HTC Desire with the AOKP VJ 4.2.2 Jelly Bean v2.1 ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863780
I have successfully installed the ROM but am confused as to what solution to use for Apps2SD/A2SD. I'm a real beginner on that stuff!
I have tried 40ad2sdx-a2 installed as in recovery from a zip file, and also installed through adb push, but the phone won't boot. Have formatted the SD card with 2 primary partitions (FAT32 14gb and then EXT4 2gb).
Basically, I just want a Jelly Bean ROM with plenty of space for apps..! Can anyone give me a recommendation of an A2SD method that works and step-by-step instructions how to install?

Initially I thought this was a problem with Google Play / Apollo, but I realize now that when I plug in my phone via USB, I can't see any of the many, many folders and files present on
/sdcard
that I could see previously.
If I copy a "new" mp3 onto my Galaxy Nexus, it's recognized just fine by both Google Play and Apollo. However, none of my old mp3s are recognized. They were placed in /sdcard/Music
, a folder that I cannot see when I plug in my phone, only from the file manager running on the phone. The issue persists if I move an "old" mp3 from my music folder out into the sdcard root, it's still not recognized. This makes me think this might be permission related, but the file manager says that all files are readable and writable.
I've tried running "fix permissions" in both ROM manager and the CWM recovery, but it makes no difference. Any idea what has happened, and how to fix it so that I can use all my old files again? :)
__edit__ If it's any help, I just ran ls -al
in a terminal emulator and I can't see any difference at all between folders I can and cannot see. Example: I can see /sdcard/media
just fine, because I created that folder from Explorer in Windows. Music in that directory works. I _cannot_ see /sdcard/music
. Here's the permissions:
drwxrwxr-x root sdcard_rw 2012-09-18 media
drwxrwxr-x root sdcard_rw 2012-09-16 music
This is a bit confusing.
__edit2__ When I try pulling and pushing a file with adb like so:
adb pull file.tar
adb push file.tar file2.tar
I get
failed to copy 'file.tar' to 'file2.tar': Read-only file system
**As bk201doesntexist on the XDA forums pointed out, this is because you have to use an absolute path.** However, when I do adb push file.tar /sdcard/file.tar
the file gets transferred, shows up when i run ls
, but it's invisible in the "Galaxy Nexus" unit in My Computer in Windows.
tl;dr When I push files with adb push
they get transferred but don't show up in the "Galaxy Nexus" unit in My Computer. "Old" files from before ROM-switching do not show up. New files that I put in now work fine.

My phone is rooted with aokp build 38 on it. It is a Verizon Galaxy Nexus (toro)
There is a folder
/sdcard/data
that I can't make any changes to. Some of my apps are trying to use this folder but are not able to because any changes to this folder fail.
I tried deleting it but was unable to. I even used adb shell
with root access and tried to rmdir
, but it says "Permission Denied"
I also tried to chmod 777
to give full access to the folder, but I still was unable to make any changes to it.
I'm at a loss as of what to do to make this directory writeable again.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Edit: I forgot to add that I have done this very recently. So there has not been a period where it worked normally. This occurred as soon as I flashed the ROM.
