Galaxy S8 can't connect to cellular network when connected to car bluetooth

I have a new Galaxy S8 but unfortunately when I pair it with my car (Porsche Macan 2 years old) it can never find the cellular network, status in the car is "Searching for network" and no phone calls or internet access. The reception in the car is fine if I unpair the phone. My wife has a Galaxy S7 and it has no problems with reception when paired and phone calls work fine. If I unpair the phone and pair again it will work, but then when the phone is back in the car later it won't connect to the network.
I do get a message on the phone "remote SIM activated" but I'm not sure if this is the cause and I can't find any relevant settings (or help about this feature) to force Android to use the phone SIM.
Any ideas? I'm new to Android so possibly I'm missing something basic. Thx.

Since picking up a few NFC tags I've been experimenting with automation apps to run tasks for certain contexts (e.g. Car dock).
The apps I've tried (e.g. [Trigger](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jwsoft.nfcactionlauncher)) are great at running tasks when the tag appears but I've yet to find one to trigger events when the tag is removed.
The car dock scenario would involve:
- Tag entry
- Wifi off
- Brightness auto
- Lock screen off
- Tag exit
- Reverse above changes
Setting the phone up for the drive is great but very annoying that I can't jump out my car and chuck my phone in a pocket without toggling settings off.
I'm aware that some of the apps have a 'toggle' mode where tapping the same tag twice can run another set of tasks. This is not ideal.

When placed in Dock with my car, the following happens
- Whenever a call is incoming, the phone would read me the calling number, even if he's found in my contacts.
- Whenever a message is incoming, the phone will **sometimes** read me their phone number, even if they're found in my contacts.
What can cause this? I've checked the configuration and found nothing helpful, Google wasn't much of a help either.

My car is a Chevrolet, and uses the Mylink radio system. It basically comes with some shortcuts (fixed) to run certain (limited) apps on an Android phone and show the phone's screen on the stereo car screen.
I want to run any app of the phone in the car screen.
So, my question is:
Is it possible to change the executable or shortcut on the phone to run another app?
For instance, my car can call an app called Bringgo. Can I change on the phone the shortcut or executable name to run Google maps instead Bringgo? So, If I tap the Bringgo icon on the phone, Google maps should run.
I think should be something like a symlink in Linux.
I have a rooted s3 mini, with CM 11.

Some toggle the screen, others activate the wireless charging dock. I suppose there is a position for activating car mode (never putting screen to sleep). I'd like to put a magnet (or several if necessary) into my car dock, so I can trigger car mode, whenever I put the tablet in there.
Unfortunatelly, I couldn't find a page, that will describe the various positions of the reed relays inside the device.

I know this question isn't about Android per-se, but about an Android device no less.
I recently got a new Google Nexus 7 tablet.
Now, I'd like to use it as car sat nav, but I couldn't find a decent holder for my car. I'm using a car power strip that also has two USB sockets acting as power outlets for USB devices. Powering the Nexus is no problem, so I don't need a holder/cradle, that supplies power to the tablet.
I was considering building it myself out of a dock or something, but even that I couldn't find. So, how should I put it in my car then? Should I just build myself a car-dock for it?

My guess is that it thinks it is docked in a car dock, since I had trouble with the phone randomly going into car mode earlier (I switched off car mode to avoid that). The dock state changes twice in this log, once to 0 and once to 2. A value of 2 means it's in a car dock, and a value of 0 means it's undocked.
What is the cause of this problem? Is this something I can fix (or get fixed cheaply), or is it time to start looking for a new phone?
UPDATE: I am not connected to wifi, mobile data, bluetooth or anything.

Incoming call notification that supports landscape mode
With my HTC One V in the car dock in landscape mode, incoming call notifications still appear in portrait mode. Is there a way I can configure or replace this with something that will display properly in landscape mode?

Whenever I connect my Nexus One to the official car dock, my phone heats up rapidly, and eventually restarts. Obviously, the phone is restarting to prevent it from damaging itself. So the question becomes why is it over-heating (the phone can draw too much current for its own good?) and how can I prevent it from happening. As a side note, I have never observed this happen while I had the phone charging in the official desk dock, although most of that time I was asleep, and it has happened infrequently while I was charging it and still using it.
Thanks in advance.

My question is: If I plug my phone into the audio-in jack with a cable to the headphones port, can I use the phone "handsfree" effectively while operating the vehicle? That is, will the incoming sound come over the speakers, and not echo hopelessly into the input on the phone itself? Or do I basically have to spring for the Bluetooth, either at purchase time or aftermarket?

Strange/troubling behavior when putting phone in car dock

I have a Galaxy Nexus (rooted, running stock Jellybean). When I place it in the car dock, my screen gets flooded with notifications for "shell granted superuser access," and after a few minutes something attempts to send an email, which I know because it raises the "Select an application to continue" dialog box with choices between Gmail and Email; if I allow it to continue, it simply provides me with a bug reporting email message with no pre-filled recipient, a screen shot of my lock screen, and a 4.7MB(!) textfile.
When I check the superuser log, all of the last 200 events are for "shell," all within a second of each other, which tells me that the actual count of superuser accesses is far higher than that. Consulting the log indicates that the
su
process is being used to run a bunch of different diagnostics (one for lsof
, one per running process, one per sqlite database, and so on). So this tells me that it's actually the bug reporting process that is causing the "shell granted superuser access" messages to pop up. Also, the su
instance being used is not the third-party root one but /system/xbin/su
- and this process is terminating with exit code 127.
I have never seen this behavior occur anywhere else - it is only when I dock the phone to the car dock when plugged into my car (plugging it into a USB AC adapter doesn't cause this behavior, which is especially strange). I have written a small application that uses UiModeManager to artificially enter car mode, but doing that does not cause the issue to occur; aLogcat doesn't show anything interesting while the issue is actually happening.
I am running Apex Launcher instead of the default, but these notifications occur regardless of what's in the foreground (the first time it happened, Maps was running in navigation mode), and whether I have a Car Home-specific shell installed or not.

I noticed that when using navigation plus GPS my phone (Galaxy S2) still discharges a bit even so its connected to a car charger.
While googeling, I found out that regular USB chargers only charge with .1 amp but since a car battery isn't drained so easily, there are also car chargers that charge with .5 amp.
Is there a way see on the phone how much its beinbg charged with ? My phone only displays "USB" or "AC".
I'd like to find out if buying a "fast charger" would make any difference or if I already have a charger that supplies .5 amp.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S I-9000 (the international version) and I have a car dock manufactured by Samsung for this phone (given to me by the Samsung representative who works with my cellphone provider, so I have good reason to believe it's the real thing).
I know that most car docks have a magnet that the phone uses to detect that it's been docked. Mine seems to have one because when the phone is docked, the magnetic compass always points north, and when it's not docked, the compass points in the right direction (I checked this using Car Dashboard , which uses the internal compass when the phone isn't moving).
The problem is, my phone does not seem to detect that the phone is docked. I have some triggers in AutomateIt for when the car is docked, as well as in Car Dashboard , and they don't seem to work.
The question is, should me phone detect the car dock? How can I check this? If it should, but doesn't, how can I troubleshoot it?

What I want to know is if there is any way I can simulate pressing the power button, but through one of the wired interfaces such as the USB connection? Or would my only option be to open up whatever tablet use up and solder extension leads to the power button contacts, and then figure out some way to simulate a power button press when my car starts?

I see two possible directions, but there could be others
1. Use some third-party lockscreen app that supports pin/password/pattern while containing shortcuts to a few apps. I've seen lockscreens that have shortcuts to certain apps, but they don't provide a pin lock.
2. Have a Car Home app that automatically launches when I plug in the headphones. Car Widget launches on headphone plugin, but it provides access to other screens as well, which I don't want. It has to be headphones though, I don't have a car dock or bluetooth or even a car power cable.

There is also an option to make the setting stick. I want Tasker to be notified, but the built-in app to launch. Which should I choose?
edit: I get the same prompt when removing the phone from the dock.

I'm running CM 6.2.1 on my original Motorola Droid. I don't want to uninstall the Car Home app, but I don't want it to open automatically when I put my phone in my car dock either. Aside from ripping apart my dock and pulling out the magnet, is there any way I can accomplish this?
