Rest of the error message: "Please try again later. If the problems persists(sic) please visit the Netflix website."
I successfully used Netflix streaming video for over a week on my new Xyboard 8.2. Suddenly, in the middle of a show, it started giving this error (and stopped streaming).
I tried other shows and different connections (WiFi and 3G). I uninstalled and re-installed the updates to the factory version several times. Rebooted several times. Called Netflix, who said I should contact Motorola and re-install from scratch. Rooted the Xyboard instead and installed from scratch. No change.
Netflix doesn't even think Xyboard is a supported device, although Motorola advertises it for the Xyboard. The tech said they haven't gotten a rash of calls about this error.
All but the "1009" in the error messages seems to have occurred many a time on other devices with lots of weird resolutions that don't seem applicable and the few I've tried.
Any additional suggestions?
This was the coolest feature I found on the xyboard.

I use headphone always - I need to - but that just worsens the problem...
These big companies and their lack of config options are quite annoying...

Like or dislike makes no difference either, doesnt help (each of) us, wont hide, not even mark/highlight, the item either...
Do you know any tricks?

I am wondering why when I start Netflix's app it fails to playback any video (even downloaded ones).
Youtube works just fine, it's only an app running on Desktop looking environment.
So is it the DRM that could forbid that without an app knowing, I am not trying to ask an app specific thing, but globally for any app if DRM framework is the cause. Like for instance when a banking app blurs out, it's not the app causing it, but the category of the app.
The full setup looks like this:
- 1 Samsung S10
- A smart tv (MHL compatible)
- 1 cheap usb-C to HDMI adapter
- A long HDMI cable
(which doesn't matter at this point, since we have a connection to the tv)
- A Samsung Dex running
- Target app is in maximized window
(Please don't flag the question if it's poorly written, I really think this is a problem that some people will find it useful if solved, especially if they want to watch videos using some evil DRM based apps)

Is it possible to remove Netflix from the app-list and as an installed application without rooting the phone? I have the option to *Force Stop* and *Disable*, but neither of them give me the ability to uninstall,
[I see Netflix and OnePlus announced a partnership in 2019.](https://media.netflix.com/en/press-releases/netflix-partners-with-oneplus) Does that mean we're locked into having Netflix stuff installed on OxygenOS?

My intention is to reactivate root once Netflix and the rest of the system is happily running. Something is wrong in there. Any idea what it is and how I can clean it up? It's been a long business with multiple reloads restarts and fiddling about and I don't want to repeat it all unnecessarily...

For some reason, I am suddenly getting a 5.2 error when I try to play videos. I found [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/6mkz8h/help_netflix_error_52_since_the_latest_update/) on Reddit, but no one found a soltuion. Rooted devices can fix it, so here is my question:
Is there any way to solve the error on **unrooted** Samsung devices?
Checked the Netflix help center, but the 5.2 error isn't listed.
As usual, removing the app, clearing data, restarting device, tried over 4G, restarting netflix app, tried online and offline, previously viewed and unviewed, series and movies and every other suggested solution to different errors.
Nothing works. Any ideas if this is fixable, or if it is a Netflix issue?
---
Checking reviews on Google PLay reviews of the Netflix app and Reddit (see link above) there are a lot of people affected by this (5.2 error). It looks like it is Samsung only, as I can't reproduce it with my tablet (non-samsung)

I am Primarily looking for Play vs Pause controls actually.. The rest sort of works, but pause is very conspicuously lacking. Is this actually expected or is there a way to get my play/pause button on my remote to work with the app?
To be clear I want a way for it to work with my remote control. Not for a way to use my phone as a remote control for netflix.

Googling suggests people have had some issues with this app on Marshmallow in the past, but they were definitely running it.
Did they sideload it? Or have it installed before upgrading and keep it that way? Or could it be something else? I'm in Ireland in case that matters. Is Netflix available to anyone else with the same device?

Controlling HDMI output scaling

Android does not have great deal of control over the hdmi scaling. What I'd like to do is do "centered, fit width" scaling. So in other words, on 1920x1200 tablet top and bottom has 60 pixels cut which results in 1080p output with no scaling.
Or as an another example, ipad resolution tablet would be scaled to 1920p width with some 500 pixels dropped.
Either way, full TV screen is used. How android does it is by scaling image **smaller** until it will fit the target resolution. With the ipad resolution that adds up to quite big black borders. And with netflix it's even worse as you get more black borders on top of it which you'd see on the tablet screen. Not pretty.
Now my Chinese tablet has Intel chipset which has some hdmi scaling options but sadly nothing that'd result in what I'd like to see. I also have an old nexus 10 which is used for netflix / HBO nordic duty. Nexus has no hdmi settings at all.
So is there any utility or system setting to control the hdmi scaling? I have root so editing system files is no problem.
My current solution is using second screen which can scale the tablet display to a different resolution, 1920x1080 in this case. It even does automated profile switching on hdmi connect. Sadly however it does not play nice with some apps, most notably swiftkey. Nova launcher is not fond of resolution changes on the fly either. Most annoyingly top menus are difficult to reach as the "swipe from top" function is confused by the inactive screen area.
So it works but it could be better.

1. Installed netflix, got 15001 error
2. Ran system update, I am now completely up-to-date, error no longer occurs
3. attempted to sign in, got the following error message:

4. cleared cache, deleted local data, got the same error message
5. uninstalled app, reinstalled, got the same error message
6. uninstalled app, restart tablet, installed app. Got the same error message
I only get this error message when using the correct username/password, using a bad one gives an appropriate error. So it's not a connection issue, just an authentication one. I have no idea what else to try.
