I'm having issue where my Bluetooth will occasionally turn off. This is an issue because I have a smartwatch that connects with Bluetooth.
My SO also has a smartwatch, but doesn't have this issue. I noticed in my battery usage that Bluetooth shows up as an entry in my phone, but does not on my SO.
When I tap on Bluetooth, there is an option for '**Adjust Power Use'**. It's apparently set to 'Turn off Bluetooth when not in use.' I can tap on this option, but all it does it take my to the Bluetooth pairing screen, which doesn't seem to have any way to change the option. I also do not have battery saver mode on. There's a variety of things that are battery optimized, but my list of apps matches my SO's phone as well, so I don't think that's an issue either.
Clearly I don't want my Bluetooth to turn off, otherwise it makes my watch kind of useless. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issue?

I recently bought a second-hand Nexus 6 running Lineage OS 18.1. Everything working great with one exception: WhatsApp reproducibly fails to establish audio calls with the error:
> Couldn't place a call. Make sure your phone has an Internet connection and try again.
I tried it from two WiFi networks, where other phones work without issues, so it cannot be a network-related problem. Also, the Nexus 6 does have an internet connection, even WhatsApp itself can send and receive text messages without problems.
Since Lineage OS is not officially supported, I installed a factory image (Android 7.1.1, the latest available one), installed WhatsApp there as the only app, and gave it all possible permissions, and still the problem occurs.
Interestingly, other messengers like Telegram have no issues placing audio calls, just WhatsApp does (unable to place or receive calls).
I tried to contact WhatsApp support, but:
- Through the WhatsApp chat, I only got some machine-generated replies which didn't solve the issue, then the chat has been closed.
- Through the contact form on their website, I got an email reply, but I couldn't answer the email as the email I sent didn't go through. I received an automated email with
> 554 5.7.1 POL-P6 Message refused https://www.facebook.com/postmaster/response_codes?ip=209.85.160.45#POL-P6
- I answered via the contact form again, but at some point, the "submit" stopped working. When clicking it, just nothing happens anymore.
So now I'm still here with this problem and don't know what to do next.

I can see why it is important to have a way to force-reboot your when it gets stuck, even though I haven't had this type of issue yet.
Is there are way I can change the force-reboot behaviour?
Perhaps increase the time in which power button must be pushed or change it to a combination of buttons (i.e. volume up + power button for 10 seconds) ...anythign that makes it less likely to be triggered by my pocket.

Restoring build.prop file after it got wiped
I have a stock + rooted Nexus 6 on Android 6.0.1. The editor I was using bugged out and wiped my `build.prop` file. I haven't rebooted yet, so the phone is still fine able to do things. There is no backup of the file. What are my options here? Is there an easy way to fix this?

The screen is just plain black, and as far as I can tell is also not registering any touches (no tactile feedback, etc). The phone is now in the "waiting to boot" mode where it ticks every second to remind me to enter my PIN.
I've already ordered a new phone, but I'd like to wipe this one before I recycle it. Has anyone had any luck with alternative methods of entering data into the phone? All I really need to do is get the PIN entered so it can boot up. Then (hopefully) it'll find service or WiFi, at which point I can send a remote wipe command. It's just that I can't do anything over USB while it's still partly booted the way it is.

I have a Nexus 6 with Android 5.1, kernel version 3.10.40-geec2459, build number LMY47D.
When I first started using the Nexus 6, Smart Lock worked.
After a while it stopped working.
If I open the *Smart Lock* setting under *Security*, all options (like *Trusted devices* and *Trusted places*) are *Disabled by administrator*
Possible suspects: I use gmail with exchange, I use *Android Device Manager* and I use Outlook for Android.
Is anyone of those apps supposed to stop Smart Lock?
On the Office Blog it states
> Further, a device level PIN means we can take advantage of features like native device encryption, TouchID on iOS and Smart Lock on Android
I am not sure of how to interpret this. Does it mean that they "take advantage" of "Smart Lock" by disabling it?
I tested disabing *Android Device Manager* and *Outlook Device Policy* under the *Device administrators* and then rebooted the phone. That did not help.
I would really like to use both Outlook and Smart lock. Is it possible?
Would it help to root the phone?

I installed CM 14.1 on a Nexus 6 and the first update booted into TWRP automatically to install but failed.
I manually installed the zip from the cmupdater folder and rebooted.
Now every time I try to reboot my phone or power it on from powered off it goes straight into TWRP.
Currently I have to boot into the bootloader and choose the
Start
option to get into my system.
Tried clearing dalvik/cache & internal storage in case something was cached somewhere. No dice.

I've tried to catch the latest updates, upgrades, and security patches, then I realized, unless I doing something "big" like changing rom, or whatever it is called, which I definitely do not want, I stucked with 7.1.1 and its latest security update Oct.5th 17.
My question is it safe to use?
Nothing special sensitive there, but I would like to log in to Google Play with my account to download and by some apps

Auto-sync is turning itself on randomly

Prevent screen from turning on/off automatically due to interaction with the internal magnetic on Nexus 6
I have a rooted Nexus 6 running on Lineage OS 15.1 (Android 8.1). The internal magnet that is supposed to turn the screen on and off when a magnetic case flap is shut is making it really difficult to use my magnetic car mount. Is there any way to turn off this feature?

This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was **previously** synced on this device.
Does anyone know how I might fix this problem? It's an important test phone for me.
Again it’s the same wifi as previously.
I looked https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/127739/bypass-verify-your-google-account-after-resetting/127745#127745?newreg=c7c12212f32d450fa251efb2a53453b3 but Nexus 6 does not have such a home button.

I've had a Motorola Nexus 6 for some time now, and I tend to be a bit static with it -- I'd uploaded the majority of my music library at the time and then didn't change much for a long time.
Now I recently purchased a number of new songs and wanted to upload them to my phone, but when I plug it into a computer (any computer I've tried so far, two linux systems and one windows 10) they recognize the Nexus 6, but when I try to open it in a file manager they only show an empty folder. Rebooting either the computer or the phone had no effect.
When I attempt the same thing on my Samsung Galaxy tablet, the tablet prompts me to enable sharing and after I confirm that I can browse the filesystem on my tablet, but the Nexus 6 phone never shows me that dialog.
It's entirely possible that I accidentally enabled a security feature and forgot about it; can anyone offer suggestions where I should start looking?

Suddenly my phone is failing to recognise any wifi networks.
It just keeps on searching and searching but nothing appears in the list.
The only thing I have done recently was I had it in airline more on Friday (intentionally) but switched it back.
TBH, I am not sure if the wifi worked after that or not.
The phone is a Nexus 6 with android version 7.1.1.
Obviously, I wish to avoid a factory reset if I can!
I can manage with the mobile network as I have an effectively unlimited plan but that will not help when I travel abroad.
Edit:
It seems that I can't use my phone as a hotpoint either. None of my devices recognise it.
Must have broken something when I dropped it a couple of days ago. :(
I guess factory reset is the next thing to try.

My Nexus 6 screen shattered, and the USB port on the phone might be damaged. I managed to get it to charge eventually, but my PC can't recognize my phone.
"The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
I have an OTG Cable, so in theory I can click things on the phone, but (even though I don't have to enter a passcode to unlock the phone) I can't access it via PC after it is unlocked.
In a clever attempt, I put a USB 4 port extension on the OTG Cable and connected a USB to HDMI cable (so I would have a display) and a nano receiver for a mouse and keyboard (so I would have control), but I'm not able to see anything on the monitor.
Even if I connect the USB to HDMI cord directly to the OTG Cable, then I'm still not seeing anything on the monitor.
I know the phone works (as my old alarms went off this morning), but I can't speak to if debugging or WIFI is working (as I moved and its different WAPs).
I did happen to get another of the same phone, and (as that screen isn't made anymore,) I could switch the screen from the new phone to the old phone, but then I'd have to switch it back.
I would appreciate it if someone could offer an alternative to get files off of that phone.
