Awesome people! I need help! My wife's old Xperia z1 has a broken digitizer, the phone is pattern locked without showing the path. Of course, no one can remember the pattern, USB debugging is not enabled, no root and no google account shows that it is paired with this device. I care about photos so is there any way to take a memory dump to an SD card or to clone the phone content without debugging mode? If I wipe the data in the boot menu, will I be able to recover the photos using e.g. Recuve? Can I run some script from SD card without permissions in the system? Or any other way to bypass pattern lock without debugging and root?

Hi I have the following problem. I get whatsapp notification on the top of my screen when receiving new whatsapp message but I dont want any sound with it. I tried to look in whatsapp settings - notification tone - but it just lets me select different sounds for the pop up. No option to have no sound at all? This is super frustrating as I get so many whatsapp messages and it keeps beeping every time unless I turn down the phone sound alltohether (which then also turns down the volume of incoming calls). If anyone know how to solve this I would be greatful to hear... Thank you

Disable calls and SMS and use only mobile data with active SIM card
I have a Sony Xperia Z1 packed with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. I'm interested if it's possible to setup my phone to not receive any phone calls or SMS. I would like to use my Internet connection only, and I don't mean WiFi - my mobile ISP connection from the SIM card. Is this possible? If so, how?

Now there are few more .ftf's for _14.4.A.0.108_ firmware so which one should I select? What is the difference between generic and branded firmware? What are the differences between the different generic .ftf's and the different branded .ftf's?

My Xperia Z1 compact runs CM12. Unfortunately it has fallen on its bottom left corner and the touch screen is completely unresponsive. The cost of a replacement screen is more than a new phone with similar specs so I bought a new phone. Now I am trying to get access to some files that are on the internal SD card (loads of contacts that I don't want to re-type, but also the latest photos). The phone has Cyanogen recovery on it so I booted into that, and on my computer ran adb: # adb version Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31 but then # adb devices List of devices attached CB5A24NPRD offline which I cannot seem to change. Because I cannot use the touch screen, the only way to control the phone is in recovery mode with the volume and on/off keys. Is the best thing to do just to dismantle it and get the internal SD card? If it is a physical card then that may be the best way to go?

On my Sony Xperia Z1 Compact running CyanogenMod, I had the Google Play Services installed as an APK. At the time I must have thought that this was better than installing GApps - for being able to pick packages myself. Since a recent update (of either Google play services or CyanogenMod) I get the error "unfortunately Google play services have stopped working". Google play store also requires these services because it relies on these services. In the end I removed both the Services and the Store. I have tried installing the a number of versions of the Services (from 7.3.xx to 8.3.xx) but they also report the same error message after a while. Does the app need some sort of reset before it will work again? Each time an APK is uninstalled then its cache etc must be removed? Or should I install a very specific version of the APK? my build is cm_amami_userdebug 5.1.1 LMY49J d8f66af955 EDIT: For flashing GApps, I would choose Open GApps _pico_ for Android 5.1 on ARM(32) , does that sound right? EDIT 2: Flashing the GApps above worked. I would still like to know the answer to the first question - whether an APK could have solved it (and which)

I need someone who knows about flashing, bootloader unlocking and related topics for this problem: My Xperia Z1 doesn't take photos when the app tries to focus. With no focus enabled it goes perfectly. *Details:* * I've read that unlocking bootloader in this phone model could make the camera useless, but when I try to see the unlocking status I get this: Rooting Status: Unknown. So I don't know if it's been unlocked or not (I bought it used at eBay). * I've tried disabling stamina mode and flashing firmware again (5.0.2 and then autoupdated to 5.1.1) but stills the same. **Questions:** * Does somebody know the exact solution to my problem? * If not, could it be related to camera software (I mean, the hardware's internal software, not the app)? * Could it be related to Android version? Maybe downgrading would solve it? * At least, how could I know which is my bootloader status? * Any other help you think that could help

On my Xperia Z1 compact and cm 12 I used the Dark Material theme. Then after a recent update it was disabled 'after too many app crashes'. I tried to set it again but now every time I go to settings->themes it exits with the error 'unfortunately, settings has stopped'. Some posts on the web suggest that in settings->apps, clearing the data for the Theme Chooser app (under All Apps) will solve it. But there is no Theme Chooser app in my app list. Is it possible to (re)install Theme Chooser somehow? Or another way to be able to switch Themes in cm 12? phone: Sony Xperia Z1 compact (amami) OS: cm 12.1 update 20160110 android: 5.1.1 EDIT I tried (re)installing the Themes APK generously provided by the author of this post, but when I open the APK it first says "Do you want to install an update to this built-in application? Your existing data will not be lost. The updated application will get access to New|All", and when I choose either of those it exits with "App not installed." That means that Theme Chooser is still on the phone. But why does it then not appear in the "All Apps" list (which would allow me to Clear Data)? EDIT II I dirty flashed the latest image (15/1) from the cyanogedmod website. Still no theme chooser that works.

A month ago, i used Kingroot to root my Sony Xperia Z1 running lollipop . Today, my dad called me on the phone and i picked up. 5 minutes later, the phone will not boot up. I thought that the battery is dead and tried to charge the phone using the original wall plug. The phone will not charge or boot up. It will show red blinking on my phone. I highly doubt that my phone has no battery at all because it is 40% when i last used it to call my dad. Also i have tried to power on the phone by pressing the on and power down/up button but it does not work. I have tried to reset the phone by pressing the small red button at the micro sim slot but is also does not work. I have also tried to use the Sony PC Companion but it does not detect my phone after i have download the installation for the update. I have also tried using Emma but it did not detect my phone at all. Now what i know is that my warranty is void because i rooted my phone and they are going to charge me to fix it. And before i send it down to repair, i would like to know what else can i do to boot up my phone. Thank You Jun Run

Recently I've upgraded to Android 5.1, and this option has disappeared. I have in stalled CyanogenMod (CM) 12.1 on my Sony Xperia Z1 compact -- according to the CM website the name for that device is amami. The OS (Cyanogenmod version) that it runs, very much to my satisfaction, is 12.1-20150424-UNOFFICIAL-amami. However, updates for amami that are downloaded, for installation in recovery mode, are refused because the ZIP installer (in recovery mode) says that my device needs a yuga update not an amami. While the name yuga is reserved for Sony Xperia Z phones, which may be a generic class into which the Z1 compact also falls, I had expected that the amami updates, which are specifically for my device, would be a better fit. Does anyone know how I can make the amami updates work on my amami phone with an amami ROM on it, instead of asking for yuga?

I updated my **Sony Xperia Z1**'s Android to **Lollipop** (official update from Sony) a few days ago, and just noticed that the applications having their notifications **blocked** reset back when my phone is restarted. The **Priority** and **Sensitive** options are saved but the **Block** option appears to be not. For your information, the app I'm blocking is **Psiphon** – but testing this with other apps revealed it affects almost all of them, with a few exceptions only. What could be the problem? Possible bug of Android? Thanks

Just last night I was moving apps to my SD card and the phone (Sony Xperia Z1) randomly restarted. When it came back up, all the apps on my SD card no longer worked. Their icons became generic with a tiny SD card in the bottom corner. When I tap an app, I get the message "Application not found". I've tried un-mounting and removing the SD card, restarting, clearing cache, but nothing works. When I go to the App Store, the apps show up as if they need to be installed but when I look at the SD card via my PC, all the files are there still. The pictures and videos are still accessible from the phone however. Before that, I had problems moving a game to the SD card. I kept getting a "Not enough memory" error, even though all the other movable apps moved and I deleted apps to make space. I tried options I found on the forums and other websites but to no avail, and the only thing I haven't done yet is to root my phone, which I am trying to avoid.
