Though it: * either crashes/gets out of memory, I don't know, on certain pages of a 3MB HTML file (3MB is not that much, actually, for a 50MB free memory). * or doesn't support links to files lying in the same directory/zip file (in a form: ``) Are there any other options around?

I use Ebook Reader . I attempted to use the download option on the MyBook list (the three dots). The file that came was incompatible with my ebook reader. It was: Warriors_2_Fire_and_Ice-epub.acsm I tried renaming the book in various ways such as: - Warriors_2_Fire_and_Ice-epub - Warriors_2_Fire_and_Ice.epub However, I couldn't import either of those files into my ebook reader. The extension .acsm might be the offline extension for ebooks. I thought I had seen it as an epub before. So if that is the case, can someone advise me on how to convert the downloaded book to a way that I can import it into my ebook reader library?

When I use Aldiko to a book in *epub* format on a mobile device with a small screen, I can read it without problems. The text is adjustable to the size, the application has no issues. The opposite is true when I'm reading *pdf* file. It's always a fight. The text is small and unadjustable and the application freezes. Is there a way to adjust the size of the text in my PDF files so that they are more easily readable? I don't intend to read scanned pdfs (this would be even bigger fight). I would like to be able to adjust text size, do scaling and not have the application freeze. I'm open to trying other readers if Aldiko cannot handle this. EDIT: The title was changed, but note that it's not only the change in the size of text. The text should be flexible to various sizes of devices. This is called floating text (or layout) in HTML terminology. A lot of PDF readers can change the text size without the text fitting the device screen.

I have purchased a digital book on Google Play. To read a book, the Google Play Books application downloads a copy to my Android device. This all works as expected. The problem is that I read this book only intermittently, and when I return to the Google Play Books application, sometimes the application needs to redownload the book. This is a problem in situations where data is unavailable (on transit, for example). I guess some kind of periodic cache purging is taking place. Are there settings that will prevent the book from being removed from the Android device? I have plenty (~5GB) of storage space available, and I would prefer that the book simply be saved until I manually remove it.

However, it doesn't seem to do this. Is there way to also sync all my books to my phone as well as my Kindle automatically?

My Android 4.0.4 tablet (Onyx Boox i86) mounts the internal and external SD cards as real read/write drives (not MTP) on my computer. In order to do this it goes into "USB mode" where the tablet's OS no longer has access to the storage while the computer is accessing it. Before unplugging the tablet, I usually do "Eject" in the desktop OS X/GNU/Windows file manager, and then click "Turn off USB storage" on the display of the tablet. Is it alright to: 1. Just eject the drives on the desktop, and then physically plug out the cable? 2. Just click "Turn off USB Storage" on the tablet display and then plug out the cable?

Every time I open a epub from File Commander, I am asked which app to choose to open the epub. I also have Moon Reader, so that's in the list as well as Google Book and an option to Install UB Reader. When I go into settings for the Aldiko app, there is no button to Set Defaults. So how can I not be prompted to choose the app each time I open and epub. Android 5.0.2, Sony Compact Z1.

I am a long-time, experienced Linux user, but I am a newbie android user. I am struggling with android: it seems the OS has been dumbed down so much for regular users, that even the simplest operations are difficult or impossible to achieve. I have an un-rooted xperia tipo. The inbuilt 2GB memory card is almost full of applications. I have purchased and added a 32GB sdcard. Apparently with the xperia tipo, it is impossible to use the added sdcard to install more applications. I thought I would at least use the 32GB sdcard as a data store, for videos and misc. files. The problem is that none of the applications have "open file..." nor "save file as..." dialogs. The TED talks application allows to download videos, but saves it in the inbuilt, 2GB card, and not on the extra card. There is no option to say where to save the files to. I checked all the mobile phones settings and none seem to apply or to have any effect. To make this question more concrete, here is a related problem I have with the google ebook reader. I can connect the phone on my kubuntu computer, mount the extra sdcard (but not the inbuilt one!), and from my computer's command line, create directories and copy some ebooks from my computer to the cell phone. The problem is that the ebook reader does not see them. There is no "Open file..." dialog. Is there any, better ebook reader application that I could use to open ebooks that I have transferred to my big sdcard? Is there any way to have a "open file.." dialog? Is there a way to get google ebook reader to discover the ebooks I transferred on my card? And, if you can answer this, is there a sane way to go beyond the dumbed-down limits of the "smart"phone? Would rooting the phone help in this respect? Is it the only way? Or should I put this to the dumbed-down application themselves?

Preferably the notes would be attached to the document (may be like Skim does), but as a workaround I can also imagine to copy a relevant piece of text into a separate note taking application. Preferably the reader should handle PDFs directly, but if there is no PDF solution I might also start converting the documents (maybe with Calibre ) for an epub reader. I tried Adobe Reader, ThinkFree Office and Aldiko, all of which have acceptable performance loading the PDFs, but aside from cumbersome zooming they also lack the ability to copy or adding notes.

I'm seeking a method to re-format epubs to be more readable on an Android phone (specifically the SGS5). Epubs are awesome, however there are some issues I've come across with a huge majority of them: they weren't meant to be read on a phone. This leads to, for instance, the contents of a single page being compressed into a single, massive paragraph with annotations at the end of the paragraph. A single one of these paragraphs takes up about 2.5 "pages" in the reader I use. As you can imagine, this makes it difficult to read. I would like a method to ameliorate this issue. I have seen a few methods for reformatting epubs, but they all require ready access to a PC, which I do not have, or manually editing the config files themselves, which is a more time-consuming endeavor than I care to undertake. So I need a quick method of reformatting epubs for readability on the Galaxy S5. I am also open to suggestions for an epub reader that might fix them for me.
