I'm trying to add TWRP support for a Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. This is proving very difficult, as I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around the numerous Android abstraction layers.
I know I need to load 4 services to get encryption working:
> android.hardware.gatekeeper-service-qti.rc\
> android.hardware.secure_element-service.qti.rc\
> android.hardware.security.keymint-service-qti.rc\
> qseecomd.rc
Now, this works. I can boot TWRP and see decrypted files. However the touch screen doesn't work. I'm missing a driver. OK, I load 'xiaomi_touch.ko' and also 'nt36532_touch.ko', found in partitions on my device. Well, the touch still doesn't work, I guess there is a service to load?
Now my question: What is the relationship between the
/odm
and /vendor
and /vendor_dlkm
partitions and TWRP. There already are /system
and /vendor
provided by TWRP, at some point are the partitions mounted and then the services (etc/init/*.rc) loaded from the mounted partitions, or is this never done, and the TWRP expects all the files to be copied into the ramdisk folders /odm /vendor /system
without touching the partitions.
When I "adb shell" into the device, these partitions are not mounted, should they be?
Complicating matters, some drivers do '**dlopen()**'s so they can't be reorganized around between different partitions.
Any tips on this?

I have a custom ROM on my S3, but that shouldn't really be the issue here. I am on JB 4.2.2.
With my custom ROM I am able to set up different colors of the LED notification for each app that I want. However, this works for every single app I get notifications for except for Instagram. I still get the notifications for Instagram, the LED just doesn't light up when I receive them or they are still sitting in my tray. For Twitter I had to change the settings in the app itself to allow the LED to work, but for every other app, it has been default once I added the settings in my custom ROM. Instagram seems to be handling notifications a little bit differently from the other applications, because it doesn't wake up my phone when I get a notification either.
But, I have a desktop application that shows me a pop-up on my computer when I receive notifications on my phone, and it notifies me for every notification, even Instagram.
I want to know if there is anything that I can do within Instagram or maybe somewhere in the phones settings to enable the LED to light up when I receive a new notification from Instagram.

My Nexus 6P started bootlooping and since it was out of warranty neither Google or Huawei could help me. I researched online and found the following solution: https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p-bootloop-fix/
I followed the instructions and was able to get it all installed but when it came to reboot I got stuck on the Google logo for over an hour.
I then did a factory reset from recovery mode and now the device gets to the animated loading screen but always fails. It says "Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt..." Even after multiple clearing of the caches and data I can't load the phone.
I can no longer see the device under adb or fastboot and I am sure it is because USB Debugging is no longer set. I can't set this again because I can't get into the device. The Bootloader is still unlocked.
What options do I have?
EDIT: The recovery mode states "Supported API: 3"

I am on a Fairphone 3 and run /e/os 1.9.
# Background #
I recently started to run out of disk space each time one of my apps (Signal messenger) started to create a new backup, as my free space was not large enough to accommodate a new backup file. Yesterday I turned off the phone when I saw that the "little storage left" notification came up and the backup was running, and put a brand new micro SD card in the phone that I had meant to set up since a while.
After powering up the phone again, the notification for low storage was (non-surprisingly) still showing, alongside with one for the new SD card. When I opened the SD card I saw that a lot of empty folders had been creating, mirroring the ones in my internal storage. The phone also started to vibrate repeatedly and showed "No log (file) could be created" in a small popup on the bottom of the screen. I decided to ignore that and try to move some files from the internal storage to the SD card to free up some space. After a short while, the phone crashed and rebooted into recovery.
# Problem #
When I power up the phone, it boots into recovery, showing this screen:
Recovery
Version 1.9 ()
Active slot: a
Can't load Android system. Your data
may be corrupt. If you continue to get
this message, you may need to perform
a factory data reset and erase all
user data stored on this device.
> Try again
Factory data reset
I can also navigate back into a recovery menu.
When I select *try again*, the phone starts up as normal. I get then to unlock my SIM. However, as soon as try to unlock the normal lock screen for the first time, the phone will crash.
If I just try to unlock the screen, an empty home screen will show for a moment, before my normal home screen loads (I use lawnchair as a launcher, which is not /e/os default). Then, sometimes a popup comes saying *??? launcher crashes all the time*, partially obscured by an other popup saying *Power off*. The phone will then reboot into the recovery.
If I try to directly go to the settings page by swiping down and clicking the settings shortcut, that page is shown for a second or two before the phone also powers off and reboots into recovery.
If I click on the "Out of storage" notification, the same thing happens.
**I would really like to prevent losing my data.**
# What I have tried so far #
It appears like I can't do anything after unlocking my phone, as it will reboot directly.
I have gone through the recovery and fastboot menus, trying to find anything that could be of help. I was able to activate ADB and browse around in the file system using
shell
, but none of my personal files where accessible and there was apparently a lot of space available on that partition. I was also able to *mount system* from an option in the recovery. Even this partition showed only 73% disk usage. It was also read-only, so I was not able to remove any files. The sdcard folder in both /
and /mnt/system/
was empty.
The recovery also gives me the option to install an update, e.g. via adb sideload. I have not tried that, since I don't know how to do so and if it will give me access to my personal data.
# What to do now? #
If this would be a computer, I would use a live linux system to run
and similar tools to identify and repair the corrupted data and to free up some disk space. Is it possible to do something similar with my phone, for example using adb?
Is there any way to access/recover and possibly back up my personal data?

I enabled the wallet on my Samsung Watch 5. It wanted to put a PIN on it, so I did. But the problem is that watch is now a dumb watch. Anything else requires a re-entry of the PIN, on a tiny screen with fat fingers. This applies to SMS arriving, or name of person calling you. It even applies to health information.
I am fine with having a PIN to unlock the wallet on the watch. Is there a way I can remove everything else from the PIN control.

Rotate Always On Display 90° On WearOS?

I've been playing with some ADB
settings put
commands on one of my WearOS watches (Galaxy Watch 7, WearOS 5, OneUI 6), to customize things a bit beyond what the settings app usually allows, and I've come across an odd issue:
I wear my watches on the inside of my wrist and prefer them oriented vertically (90° from stock setting, WearOS's "landscape" orientation internally).
I have been able to use ADB to rotate the whole system to this 90° angle, and it's great. However, when the ambient mode for Always On Display kicks in, while the rotation is preserved for a moment when the screen first dims, after about two seconds the AOD ambient screen returns to stock 0° ("portrait") orientation.
As soon as I tap the screen to wake the device from ambient mode, the rotation returns to 90°, and gestures (swipe up for app tray, down for QS, etc.) are all oriented to that 90° rotation even when the screen is in ambient mode.
I know it is not the watch face itself, because I have tried multiple and they all do this, but the issue is not present when using the stock 180° rotation mode (it will not flip back to 0° when ambient).
While reading about the issue I found some people discussing performing a similar trick on WearOS 3 and they stated the AOD/ambient mode *stayed* rotated at 90°...
I am not sure if this is something specific to Samsung OneUI versions of WearOS so I did a little digging with adb shell pm list packages
and it seems like Samsung's implementation of AOD/ambient is named com.samsung.android.watch.watchface.perpetual
.
Is anyone aware of what might be causing this glitch, or does anyone by chance know of a way (ADB or otherwise) to force an individual specific app to a particular orientation so I can try resolving this?
If native methods won't work, does anyone have any thoughts about the potential to mod this apk to change it's default orientation in it's properties?

I recently got a Samsung S25. Since then I regularly notice its failing to show text when I try to type something in the address of my chrome browser.
Today I actually managed to get a screenshot as you can see that the address bar is empty while the type suggestions are showing. The problem is not happening all the time, perhaps a few times per day. I did not notice it in other apps, but I also don't use any other browsers, if that matters.
This eliminates any concerns about whether the keyboard actually picks up the letters, but I am not sure about how to go forward.
I found a recommendation to do a full reboot, that did not have any effect.

Does any body know how to fix this error or how to disable the checksum in the .backup file? (this works if i recovered on the same tablet that i have made a backup in)

My Samsung Galaxy A32 restarted itself and now is stuck at this 'Phone is starting...'.
I googled ways to resolve this but none work, The last option\resort is to factory wipe, but I have images on here that I have not yet copied to the SD card or cloud stuff setup (yes, I know I should).
I tried to see if I could see the data via the ADB debugging option but it's all 'empty', I suppose it's not allowing me to view it until it 'loads'?
I tried the wipe cache partition, restarting multiple times, turning off and waiting then powering back on, and rebooting in safe mode, somewhere mentioned to turn battery saver mode off but it was already off + the toggle didn't work but I managed to get to it via the Settings menu (the only thing I can access) and thought I'll turn it on then off... now it won't turn off, entering the 'download mode', then exit and reboot.
Anything else I can try, all these applications to download to repair the phone seem dodgy or not what I need. I thought about downloading Odin and the firmware from somewhere to reinstall, but that would wipe all my data right? What about rooting it would that give me any functionality to access the data? Can I even root it if I can't install apps?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 stuck on Android 5.0.2. I wanted to upgrade the software to LineageOS. There is a lot of information out there, but nothing that can help me.
A few things first that I need to share. I'm using a Mac. I once unlocked my device and Knox is now void, so it must be unlocked. I can't tell if the bootloader is unlocked. I tried to check using an app, but came back with an error of "Sorry! root access is not properly installed on this device". The tablet is in developer mode, there is no OEM mode or anything like that, and USB debugging is turned on.
I have tried several things using Terminal but they didn't work with homebrew and ADB services. These are installed on my Mac. I got as far as trying to add fastboot devices, and it was denied on the terminal, but that probably makes sense if the bootloader is locked.
Most instructions imply that you know what to do and don't explain much. Can anyone please assist with step-by-step instructions so I can complete the process of installing LineageOS?

My old smartphone model is GT-S6102, a Samsung Galaxy Duos, running Android 2.3.6.
I have enabled "Install from unknown sources" and "USB debugging". I have let Lookout scan it before installing.
When trying to install that APK using the file manager, I get this message:

I am also unable to install it from Google Play Store. From Google Play, it says "Package file is invalid".

Is there a way (app, setting etc) to make it so that specific apps run on specific resolutions or at least, a screen resolution/density changer that lets you choose apps on which to ignore that setting?
My goal is to be able to have a specific resolution set for certain apps and have others display in the original resolution my phone has in its factory setting.
I'm hoping that's possible as I remember running custom ROMs on previous Android phones I've had that had different resolutions for some applications.
