How can I change the naming convention of the stock camera/gallery app?

I just switched from a Droid1 to an HTC Evo 3d, and despite all the positives, one negative is sticking under my nail. On the Motorola Droid, the camera/gallery (I am not sure who is responsible for the naming of the image) had a naming convention that included a time/date stamp (i.e. 20110930122900). Unfortunately, the Evo does not use this naming convention (although all of the information is stored in the EXIF data). Having the time/date in the file name is very convenient when posting the images on my site (Squarespace editor doesn't simultaneously display EXIF) and captioning them. - **Short of rooting the device**, is there a way to change the naming convention on the Evo 3d to include this information? - Is there a camera app that is as fully featured as the Evo 3d stock app (although it's not amazing, I'm looking for it to have multiple filters and be compatible with the 2d/3d camera capture/display modes) that already has this naming convention or has one that can be configured?

What does "Locked Messages" mean?
When I try to delete a message, I get prompted to select whether to "Delete locked messages". There doesn't appear to be any difference if I check this option or leave it unchecked. Does anyone know what that means?

My HTC Evo 3D sometimes doesn't react when i press certain areas of the screen. I noticed it happens mostly on the part where the letter 'e' is, when i'm holding the phone in landscape mode. So, i did a factory reset, wiped out SD card as well during the factory reset, and the problem still persists. It sometimes happens for a certain period of time, and it starts to work after a while. I did a line drawing test, and on some places it doesn't draw the line correctly (it is continuos but it's drawn with sharp angles, i don't know how to explain it better). I read somewhere it is most probably a hardware problem, with a digitizer. Is there any way to be sure, or is it best to take it to a repair shop?

I read the other questions I could find. This is completely different. My question is **NOT about finding the file**. **The file is on my phone**. It is the correct size. It shows as an mp4 with the right icon on windows. It has an mp4 suffix. It's 22+MB so it's there. It will not play in MS Media Player or with VLC player. It doesn't show up on the phone itself in the gallery, but it's there when I connect the phone to my laptop. I was recording the video, my battery died, the phone shut off while I was recording. There are many programs on the internet that claim to fix video files, but I'm afraid to download any of them because I do not want to get a virus. My phone is an HTC EVO 3D. My carrier is Sprint. My laptop is a Samsung running Windows 7. I recorded it regular mode not in 3D mode. How do I **play** this file? How do I **fix it**? What should I do? If there's a piece of software I should download to my laptop to fix it, what is a good reputable site where I won't get malware/virus?

this is my first question on android, so I hope I will not miss anything. I bought my phone from friend probably 5 years ago, so there is no warranty. I used to login to wifi networks with no problems, but probably yesterday I clicked on "save network" (my wireless home network). For some reason, it stored my network with weird ip address(169.254.169.59), that I can not delete from phone. My router automatically asignes 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, ... I tried renaming my wifi SSID and connected to it. Again, ip address in my mobile phone is 169.254.169.59. I tried connecting to two different wifi routers, my mobile still has this weird ip address. I also tried connecting to that saved network manually with ip address I set (192.168.0.15). After connecting, my phone claims it has ip address 169.254.169.59. How do I get rid of this saved ip address? I tried reseting my phone. I do not see any other usefull settings in my phone. I can not delete saved network (I did not see any options for deletion). - Android version - 4.0.3 - HTC sense 3.6 - Software number = 3.28.401.1 - kernel = 3.0.16-ge733186 How do I fix this? Is it possible without factory defaults reset? My phone has never had a jail break.

I have had such a nightmare with sprint. I'm not going into all the details but I ordered a battery for my htc 3d phone. I just want to get it up and running. I lost 10 days worth of texts and voicemails. I took both my old and new batteries to Sprint and they told me they were bad, or that they weren't sure if they were bad. I then took them to a battery place that told me they were good. All they did was hook a voltmeter up to them and they all tested between 3.7 and 4.2 volts. But that doesn't tell me if they're good or not. I told the battery guy that it needs to be load tested. I'm not interested if a voltage is present and I had already done that at home. I needed to know if there was current present. He said it would take 24 hours to load test a cell phone batter but my motorcycle battery would take 5 minutes to load test. It all sounded like a racket to me at both places who just wanted me to buy stuff. Does anybody know how I can load test my battery at home to see if there's any current flowing through the battery? Thanks.

Lately i'm having some problems with my HTC EVO 3D. It freezes all of a sudden, sometimes the screen doesn't respond well to touch etc, and i have to do a hard reset. Since i believe it is due to a lot of apps i've installed etc, i decided to reset everything, and do a factory reset. I don't care about the data of my apps or the data on my SD card (video and pics). One thing i would like to backup is SMS and contacts. So, i'm guessing all my messages and contacts would be deleted when i do a factory reset. But, can you recommend a way to backup my messages and contacts, so i can restore them after the factory reset.

I am having a funky issue connecting my HTC EVO 3D (Running 4.0.3) to my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.1). I have connected this phone using adb and Android Studio for development, using the same cord, same phone, and operating system on a different computer. The EVO is in debug mode, tried swapping out cables, swapping ports, restarting computer multiple times, restarting phone etc. The phone will mount as a disk, but can not be discovered by adb in any connection mode. This leaves me to believe that either my USB ports on my MacBook are messed up, which I have followed instructions to reseting my SMC and PRAM , which lead to nothing. So then I thought it was possibly a corrupt ADB, so I went ahead and reinstalled the Android SDK This lead to a few hours wasted, but was feeling confident this would solve my problems. Unfortunately it did not, does anyone have any suggestions? **Edit:** To add to the confusion, I can get the EVO to mount as a storage device, and upload an apk for development, but this is not very helpful if I have to transfer the file manually every time I want to test.

I have an HTC Evo 3D from Virgin Mobile, about six months old. Until yesterday, the GPS worked great, tracking my exercise in RunKeeper very accurately. Since yesterday, RunKeeper shows my walking route as a random zig zag line, jumping left and right of my actual location, and reports my 4 mile walk as 10 miles. This has happened three times, on trails that have always been reported accurately in the past. In Google maps, my location also jumps around. GPS Test showed that I could see 10/10 satelites, but the accuracy was only about 30 feet. Any ideas what may be causing this? The phone has never been dropped or got wet.

I am having an issue trying to assess why I am texting transcripts to myself of the voice mails people leave me. The Problem: I have an HTC EVO 3D on Sprint, and whenever someone leaves a message I get a notification in my gmail inbox of the transcript via Google Voice (ding #1). Shortly thereafter, I then get a notification (ding #2), and then 2-3 text messages (dings #4-5) on the HTC Sense texting app widget, from myself via my carrier's phone number (that is, the non-Google number). As you can imagine, it is incredibly irritating. Background: Looking into the Voicemail settings on the phone, and the Visual Voicemail settings, I don't have anything enabled to cause this behavior (I am not signed up for the latter service, and the trial hasn't even been configured). Google Voice isn't to blame for these text messages; they are set up to only push to gmail. The texting app itself is of no use in terms of finding out where it is getting these notifications from; it says it's from my carrier's number, but nothing else. Please let me know any suggestions you have to: - diagnose the source of the 2-3 text messages; they are the truly aggravating "feature" of this problem. I am not sure if this is caused at the carrier, hardware, or software level. - turn off the notification (sound) for the 2-3 text messages, or to disable the texts from myself entirely. As you might expect, I still want to receive notifications for other text messages, so muting the app wholesale is not an option. I am okay with ditching the HTC app, so if there is one (hopefully with a workspace display) that can selectively mute users (e.g. myself) that might be an option

Android 4.0 just came out for my phone today (a Sprint-version HTC Evo 3D). I didn't get the update yet, but I guess Sprint is doing it in phases. Anyway, I'm wondering whether I need to unroot my phone before installing the update. I used HTC's method to root it. Another thing I should mention is that I currently do not have the ability to install "Firmware updates" from the "System Updates" settings menu. There is a pending update now (not the ICS update), but when I try to install it, the phone restarts, then shows an error (what seems to be a green robot with a triangular warning sign above). Does this mean I need to unroot before installing any firmware updates? If so, how can I unroot it, when it still has HTC's bootloader? I am aware that there are ICS ROMs I can download and install, but these all have problems, and I'd rather stick with the update from HTC. What do you guys think I can do?

For about the past month or so, whenever I pull my HTC Evo 3d off the charger (wall primarily, haven't tested against USB yet) the phone is unresponsive for anywhere between 15-60 seconds, and it's getting worse. If I pull the phone off with the display turned on, it will stay turned on in a frozen state; it does the same if I pull it off with the display off, just frozen with the display turned off. The battery is frequently incredibly warm but not quite hot. The unit is running stock Android (after a couple of updates; 2.3.4 Gingerbread, Sense 3.0). - What could be causing this? To me it sounds like some kind of power regulation problem, perhaps from it switching from AC to battery power. - How can I diagnose what is going on that is causing the overheat (is overheating a regularly reported defect of the Evo 3D)? - I am becoming more worried about long-term damage not only from the freezing, but from just charging my phone. So, most importantly, what steps should I take to fix it?
