From time to time on my Android phone (currently a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra) I use speech recognition in English and then translate the transcription into a different language, and finally use that translation in some input field in some application. For example I might use Telegram or Line, and need to send a message in Korean or German, but I want to use speech recognition in English as this is the language I commonly speak. What's the fastest way to do so? Currently I use the Google Translate app to transcribe and translate. However this requires me to copy paste the resulting translation into the target application. Is there a more efficient way to do so?

I am using blocking apps to try and put as many barriers in place as possible to prevent me accessing gambling websites/Apps. I have a Samsung galaxy S23 Ultra running Android 13. I haven't been able to find an app without a workaround. "AppBlock" is the best - until I discovered yesterday it can simply be uninstalled by entering safe mode. Is there a non-root way of disabling safe mode or making the app a system app so it can't be disabled/uninstalled in safe mode? With "strict mode" activated AppBlock is great - I couldn't circumvent it. But booting into safe mode allows the changing of permissions subsequently allowing me to uninstall the app . I tried a downloadable play store app to turn it into a system app but that didn't work. Edit: at this point if it's possible to achieve this by rooting my device I will happily do so. Thank you in advance!

I have installed tools to help me limit the time I spend on certain activities on my smartphone and on my laptop, but now I'm looking for a tool to do this with Instagram reels in particular. Is there a way to block Instagram reels completely on the Instagram app on my Android phone?

With a productivity lock in place with an access code that is set by someone else, the phone user cannot directly open the "stock browser" unless Android asks: > Sign into public wifi network if I happen to connect to such a network that requires signing in. That is as intended, At the same time I am trying to disable the user access to the "stock browser" from any other app such as Slack. To be clear: Slack has a button that disables opening links with the "stock browser", but that does not prevent the user access to the "stock browser" as the user can go to settings>advanced settings>flip that button that prevents access. Therefore I have the following **question**: *How can one prevent certain apps from opening the "stock browser" in LineageOS 14.1?* Currently my options consist of: 1. Modifying all apps to such an extend that that function is not possible to re-enable once it has been disabled. 2. Finding a setting that allows only specific apps to open the stock browser. 3. Finding an app that enforces such control settings. Neither of the 3 approaches have yet led to successful blocking of "stock browser"-access.

Let me apologize in advance for the bad title, but I didn't quite know how to describe it. What I want is a way for my phone to only show me the notifications from time to time instead of showing them to me as soon as they pop up. So instead of showing me the notifications from every app as soon as they appear (which is the default) I want a way for Android to keep them hidden and just show, for example, all the notifications for the last hour at once. Then an hour from then it would show me all the notification from that hour, and so on. I have looked at ways to do this using Android settings itself and I've looked for apps that do that, but no luck. Is there a way to do such a thing? Thank you.

Lock yourself out of your phone for a certain amount of time
I check my phone (Android) more than I study. Is there any program or way to lock yourself out of your phone for a certain amount of time until you complete a goal? At the same time it should allow phone calls to come through.

I'm transitioning to *one* folder with many (txt-)files, adapting (letters instead of symbols, lowercase only, no spaces) Merlin Manns txt-setup . With cat, grep, head and other Unix-utilities , it's better than a folder structure. I use this on Ubuntu, storing the files in my Dropbox-folder. I'd like to have the same functionality on Android, but have come up empty handed. They don't have to be the same tools, and if I can only cover *part* of the functionality, that's a great start. How can I get this (or similar) functionality?

I used to be an email-on-the-phone junkie. Then, I read 4 Hour Work Week, which convinced me to un-sync my email (gmail) from my phone (Samsung S3). I started checking my email once per day on my laptop... then once per week. My productivity skyrocketed, and my stress levels went down. Some weeks, I spend less than 1 hour per week reading and returning email. After 6 months of not having email on my phone, things are pretty good. But, there are 3 contacts (my wife; my PhD advisor; and a key customer) whose email is actually worth reading in real-time. I'd like to sync email from ONLY these 3 people with my phone. Here's what I've tried so far: ---- **First idea** 1. Configure Android phone gmail to use me@gmail.com 2. In me@gmail.com, create a label called "Send to phone" 3. In me@gmail.com, create a rule to tag wife@gmail and advisor@gmail as "Send to phone." 4. In me@gmail.com, create a rule to forward all "Send to phone"-labeled messages to me.phone@gmail.com 5. In the Android gmail app, under Settings > me@gmail.com > Manage labels, I was able to unsync all labels (including Primary, Social, Forums...) except for "Send to phone." **But, it didn't work:** emails to my Primary inbox (from people other than wife/advisor/customer) are still syncing to my phone. WTF?! ---- **Second idea** 1. Create a new account called me.phone@gmail.com. 2. In me@gmail.com, set up a rule that forwards email from wife@gmail.com and advisor@gmail.com to me.phone@gmail.com 3. Use me.phone@gmail.com on my Android phone **But, it didn't work:** I like having the me@gmail.com calendar on my phone. I haven't found a clean way to use the me@gmail calendar but me.phone@gmail email account. ---- Has anyone done this before? What else should I try?

It often happens that I want to take a quick note to self when I have my phone, so I won't forget something, but I want to do it as quickly as possible because I'm in the middle of something else. Later, when I'm doing tasks, I'll have time to dedicate to do it, or make a proper task for it in my task management software. The shitty way ============== What I currently do is open up Gmail and write an email to myself. That's takes about 3 times longer than necessary, because I need to: - Unlock the phone - Open the GMail app - Wait for it to load - Press compose - Tap the first two letters of my email address - Wait for the autocomplete box to appear, which can take a long time if there's internet connectivity problems - Click my email address - Tap in the Subject field - Type the memo (in very concise words of course) - Sometimes the typing goes wrong (I swipe) and I have to correct it - Close the GMail app and lock the phone There are 11 items in this list. I'm looking for something much shorter. Here's how I'm imagining it: The good way ============== - Unlock the phone - Tap the record button that's on a widget on my desktop - Say the message - Let go of the button - Lock the phone The crucial part is that the message will be sent as an audio file to my email, so I'll notice it. (I don't want to have to check the app for it, I want it in my email.) Is there an app that does that?

I would even be willing to perform this operation on my windows laptop, so this isn't specifically an Android question, though I'd prefer to do this on my phone. I'm a graphic artist and I have thousands of inconsistently named images in various places, and I'd really like to avoid doing this manually, one by one, as it would take months!

Can Google Docs for Android work Offline?
I am intending to get probably the Asus Eee Pad Transformer soon. I am looking at the apps I need. I am thinking of getting just the non 3G version and wonder if the lack of 3G/Internet connectivity will affect my use of applications like Google Docs. Perhaps I need to look at a non-cloud based app?
