I had an Android (Samsung Galaxy) smartphone with AT&T providing the carrier service. Because AT&T owns DIRECTV, they allow unlimited streaming on their DIRECTV app using AT&T's cellular network data that does not affect your normal internet or hotspot data limits like it would for, say, Netflix. That allowed me to stream DIRECTV with no data limits or surcharges to my phone over the cellular network while traveling in my RV. I would then use the "Smart View" (Miracast) feature on the phone with my Amazon Firestick/TV to connect the two devices over a direct-WiFi connection (the Firestick has a wireless transmitter/receiver built in to facilitate this connection). The direct-WiFi connection ability that "Smart View" used was important because the connection used this feature instead of demanding a WiFi connection to the internet over AT&T's network, eating up my data limit, negating the advantage of the unlimited streaming if I was required to access the internet using AT&T's cellular network or hotspot capability. I recently upgraded to a new Galaxy A14 5G phone running Android 13 to get the benefits of 5G. Samsung/Galaxy, in their infinite wisdom, deleted the "Smart View" functionality, "replacing" it with "SmartThings", which not only requires a WiFi connection to the internet or a special SmartThings hub/router to function, and in addition, it does not support Amazon Firestick or many other devices "Smart View" used to support. Any help or constructive guidance on how to get "Smart View" or a similar app that only required a direct-WiFi to implement the screen mirroring capability would be appreciated. I have been hunting for such an app for weeks now.

I'm using anycast dongle on my LED monitor/ not TV, and the projection screen is always in horizontal mode even I'm not rotate the phone, I use Poco/ Xiaomi phone, any solution so the orientation on the led screen according to the orientation of the phone screen

LineageOS 20, which is based on Android 13, has settings for some screen cast technology, even without having GApps installed. They settings can be found at **Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Cast**. The UI simply refers to it as Cast, without giving any details on the technology involved or how to set it up. As per my research, there are two technologies that Android has supported over the years: * Miracast, an open standard, introduced with Android 4.2–4.4 and gradually phased out starting with Android 6, ending with Android 9, * Google Cast, a proprietary protocol, which requires GApps on the device. The UI simply tells me no nearby devices were found. I don’t see any controls to search for supported devices (in fact I don’t have any, because I don’t even know which technology they would need to support). Does LineageOS 20 without GApps come with a complete stack for any screen cast technology? If so, which? If not, can this functionality be added? What would I need to install? If so, is there a way to achieve this without installing any proprietary add-ons?

Two days ago, my dad brought a projector that has a weird miracast system that works when something connects to **it's** wifi network and mirrors the screen using an app called EzCast. The thing is, I want to use it to stream videos on my phone while mirroring my screen. The projector does not connect to normal wifi networks, but instead, it hosts its own network where the device to be mirrored/ cast from is to be connected to. So If I have to watch something on the projector, I lost my internet connection. - Is it possible to connect to two wifi networks at the same time? Or - Is there any other way to get the desired result?. (stream videos online to the projector). Thanks. Please pardon the messy wording. I'm typing this on my phone and am an ESL speaker.

I have a Huawei Mate 20 Lite that uses Miracast for screen mirroring. So far I've been successfully able to share Zoom video calls to my TV, but the audio stubbornly refuses to share to the TV. I've also shared Facebook Live calls and casting Facebook Live will send both audio and video successfully. Any idea on Android settings to check for?

I am trying to cast my android screen to Windows 10 Connect App, but its not working. I have a Lenovo K8 Note running android 7.1.1(not rooted and its near stock OS). I have an another device with Lineage OS 14.1 (7.1.2) where the Display -> Cast option works properly. But its not working with the Lenovo K8. I guess google removed the cast support in Nougat for Miracast so users would be forced to use their Chromecast device. Is there a way to make the cast option to work with Lenovo K8.

I want to cast my mobile screen to an LED monitor which has an HDMI port using Miracast . The device is not purchased, But the testing is done by an Android TV now. Nexus 9 currently runs Android 6.0.1 (MMB29S) with ElementalX kernel 4.05 and Chainfire's SuperSU 2.66 (if that matters); on the TV side, - it is Panasonic Viera TX-42CSR610 and it has screen mirroring function. WiFi direct finds the device, I am also able to send videos with sound from Nexus to it (as well as from a Windows 10 pc). However if I start the "Cast screen" from Nexus, it says "No devices available"; also when I invoke screen mirroring app on the TV, WiFi direct loses it. I've tried about dozen playstore apps with no avail, including Chromecast, Mirror beta, Wifi display, Wireless display (Miracast) and others, all of them failed in different ways. Presumably it will work with additional hardware like Chromecast, what I want to know is whether it is supposed to work as is, and if yes, why does not it work. I found some similar questions here, they are about some different hardware/software combinations. Is there a known common problem?

When I go to *Settings -> Display -> Cast*, check "Enable wireless display" (no idea why I have to do that) and connect to a display, will it use Chromecast protocol (over Wifi) or will it use Miracast protocol (separate direct Wifi connection)? Or does it support both and chooses depending on the receiver? Then let's assume the receiver is a Chromecast.

Some apps block Screen Mirroring. This means that application developers can choose themselves if they want to block Screen Mirroring. An example is "JioTV" app. Many Modders are able to **allow** screen mirroring in its mod versions. Such apps **does not allow screen recording** also. When casting or screen recording, they display black screen and block audio in the recording. I want to **mod** "**MS Teams**" **apk** so I can screen record the class in my android phone without creating a public notification. Any idea where to look for the "screen cast/record" code line!, That I can edit so I can finally screen record the app? I use Apk-Editor to edit apps. Till now I have to use screen record in my pc to achieve this because Ms Teams android app blocks it.🙁 But I want to record in phone because it is more easily portable.

Is it possible to view content of Android screen from PC running Linux over LAN? VNC should works here, but I'm looking for something more real-time, so that video content can be viewed smoothly from linux PC. I found an miracast protocol which can possibly fits into my scenaro, but it requires wireless connection from both ends, where in my deployment, android device (TV box) is connected via LAN. Any suggestion?

How do I cast only an application and not whole screen when connected to miracast?

Situation: * I have an app on my phone that says it supports "Chromecast" (mechanism not specified). * I have an TV (Sharp) that supports MiraCast (protocol). Is there any way to provide the "Chromecast" API (whatever it's actually called) endpoint to a local app and use MiraCast to send to the TV? I am *not* asking: * how to turn on screen mirroring [I can, but it works poorly] * how to obtain or use a Chromecast device [I know Google wants to sell them] * the difference between the two? [I have read around a bit] I have read through a number of questions about MiraCast and Chromecast, but most seem to be "what's the difference?" and the few asking for "how to...?" seem to be "how do I re-enable screen-mirroring support in Android?" which isn't the issue, since there *are* multiple apps that use MiraCast protocol to connect to TVs and play video. I need to know, specifically, whether there is a pre-existing app that can provide a "Chromecast"-like interface at the client side, and use the "MiraCast" protocol to connect to the TV. If not, is it possible for me to write one, or is there something about the 'cast services that's restricted so it can't be provided by a non-Google-sourced app? **Not asking *how* to write one, I'm hoping I don't need to try.** As per @MorrisonChang's comment, we actually have three devices we'd like to be able to use for this, all Huawei: an HONOR 20 Lite, a P Smart (not the 2019 update), and an older P9 Lite which has a dying battery but works fine plugged in. Android version is Pie on the HONOR; I believe the P Smart shipped with Oreo but has since had a Pie update available (not my device, so not sure if it has been updated or not).

I have an Amazon Fire TV stick, and I'd like to mirror my Samsung Galaxy S5's display to it. **It works fine with my old Galaxy S4** (just tried it right now), but I cannot get it to work with my Galaxy S5: The "Screen Mirroring" option just does not seem to be available anywhere on the phone. It's a non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S5 with the latest OTA update (Marshmallow) installed. --- **What I've tried:** I already googled for s5 marshmallow screen mirroring missing and tried the following recommendations: * Pull down the notification shade, click Edit and activate the Screen Mirroring option. On my device, *there is no such option*. * Click "Quick Connect" on the notification shade and register the TV stick as a TV device. Tried that, but the only option I have is to *"Share content"*. It does not offer to share my screen. Here are two a screen shots as proof. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious...

Booting Chromecast requires working Internet with unhindered connection to a Google server with a non-fake TLS certificate. So using Chromecast seems to be not an option in my use case. What else can be used to cast screen / audio from Pixel 3 to some HDMI-outputting device? Are there alternative hardware devices that are compatible with Pixel 3? Can [rooted] Pixel 3 running Android 9 use Miracast instead with some third-party software? Or maybe there are some other methods to make a "virtual Google" to allow Chromecast 3 to activate?
